  • The purposes of this study were to estimate the work measurement by the work sampling methodology. The results of the study were summarized as follows; The percentage of labor activities based on the analysis of work sampling were as follows; 1) In the A welfare facilities for the elderly, direct work function, indirect work function and delay were 68.28%, 8.73%, 22.99%, respectively. 2) In the B welfare facilities for the elderly, direct work function, indirect work function and delay were 70.04%, 9.42%, 20.54%, respectively.

치과종사자들의 노인에 대한 지식과 태도 연구 - 대전·충남지역을 중심으로 - (A study on knowledge and attitude toward the elderly in dental personnels - in Daejeon & Chungnam area -)

  • This study was surveyed the knowledge and attitude toward the elderly in dental personnels, who play an important role in oral health of the elderly in the aging society, In order to arrange the basic data that is conducive to development in the mouth care of the elderly, the research was conducted from January 7 to February 14, 2008, targeting 270 dental personnels in Daejeon & Chungnam area, who are in charge of oral duties in the current clinic. As a result of analyzing so that questionnaire can be prepared with the self-administered questionnaire, the following results were obtained 1. The knowledge level on the elderly in dental hygienist was 13.47 marks out of 25-mark perfection. There was no difference in knowledge depending on job category and volunteer-work activity experience, And, there was no difference even depending on physical & physiological sphere, psychological sphere, and family & social sphere. 2. The attitude level toward the elderly in dental hygienist was 91.63 marks out of 150-mark perfection. Dental hygienist showed positive attitude in personality characteristic, emotional characteristic, and self-management ability by sphere, and showed statistically significant difference (p=0.011). 3. In case of having volunteer-work activity experience, the attitude level toward the elderly was 92.57 marks out of 150-mark perfection, A case of having volunteer-work activity experience showed positive tendency in emotional characteristic, self-management ability, and judgement-ability characteristic by sphere, And, the attitude toward family relation was indicated to be negative tendency, thus there was statistical significance(p=0.022). 4. As for the correlation between knowledge and attitude toward the elderly, dental hygienist was indicated to have high interest in the volunteer-work experience, the elderly education experience, and the elderly problem(r=0. 444). The knowledge and attitude toward the elderly had slightly positive correlation(r=0.155). Dental hygienists are being required gradually as the primary staff for the elderly people's dental care in the aging society. A continuous education is needed so that dental hygienists can have positive sight in understanding, knowledge, and attitude. And, the development in a mouth care program for the elderly in line with it is considered to be necessary.

Elderly Welfare System and Role of Dental Hygienists in Korea and Japan

  • In accordance with the aged society, oral health care for the elderly is considered important to maintain general health. Although the role of dental hygienists is essential for proper health management of the oral cavity, research on the care system for the elderly people's oral health and on the role of dental hygienists in the field of elderly welfare is still insufficient. Hence, the aim of this study is to investigate the status of Korean elderly welfare system and dental hygienists by comparing them with those in Japan, a precedent of aged society. First, we compared and investigated the Japanese long-term insurance system, which provides an institutional basis for a long-term care system for the elderly in Korea. Second, the elderly welfare law and care system, focusing on oral care, were examined. Lastly, in elderly care, we analyzed the distinctions between Korea and Japan regarding dental hygienists' role and scope of work. Taken together, as a precedent of aged society, Japan has shown well-specialized and systematic welfare for the elderly compared with Korea. With the development of the welfare system for the elderly in Japan, the role and the work scope of dental hygienists have been expanded to improve quality of life of elderly people, as a key professional for elderly oral care. Therefore, we should perceive the need for improvement of long-term care insurance and the expansion of dental hygienists' work in Korea. In conclusion, these results could be used as basic data for improving the elderly welfare system and developing dental hygienists in Korea.

일자리 참여가 노인의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effects of Work Participation on the Self-esteem of the Elderly)

  • 본 연구는 노인의 심리적 복지의 하위개념인 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 요인을 노년기 일자리 참여요인과 인구사회학적 특성, 경제특성, 건강특성을 포함한 노인의 일반적 특성요인을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 자료 수집은 구조화된 설문지를 이용 일대일 면접을 통해 이루어졌으며, 노인일자리사업 참여노인 145명과 비참여노인 150명을 분석대상으로 선정하였다. 분석방법으로는 t-test, ANOVA, 다중회귀분석을 사용하였다. 연구결과, 노년기 일자리 참여집단(38.93점) 노인들이 비참여집단(33.19점) 노인들에 비해 자아존중감 수준이 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 높게 나타났다. 일자리 참여특성별로 살펴보면, 자아존중감은 '참여기간'과 '경제적 도움정도'에 의해 유의한 차이가 있었다. 또한, 일반적 특성요인들과 일자리 참여여부 요인을 중심으로 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과 자아존중감에 대한 설명력은 29.8%이며, '일자리 참여여부'와 '주수입원', '주관적 건강상태'가 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 일자리 참여여부가 자아존중감에 가장 큰 영향력을 가진 변인으로 나타나 노년기 심리적 복지에 기여하는 중요한 요인임을 시사하고 있다.

수도권 거주 중년층의 노후의 일.여가 의식과 자립형 노인커뮤니티 입주의사와의 관계 (Attitudes Toward Work and Leisure in Later Life and Intention to Move to Senior Community Available to Work Among 50's in Seoul, Incheon and Kyunggido)

  • The purpose of this research was to find out relation between the attitudes toward work and leisure in later life and intention to move to senior community available to work among 50's in Seoul, Incheon, and Kyunggido. The same research questions would be revealed as the previous one done by Cho & Cho(2006). The data were the part of the survey collected from 556 respondents with questionnaire during November, 2002 by the Hong's research team(2004). The results of this study showed that most respondents were somewhat actively preparing toward work in later life and the level of preparation differed by the individual characteristics such as age, health and occupation. They preferred various work items specially managing facility center, raising animals and plants, and managing educating center, which were different from what current elderly workers were mainly involved in. Similarly to the work, most respondents cared for the kind of leisure activities to continue and saved money for the leisure expenses in later life. The better the economic conditions, the more actively prepared for leisure in later life. They were strongly expected to participate in public leisure facilities and programs for the elderly as a user, volunteer, and/or activist. Over two thirds of the respondents preferred to work and live together in later life and over two out of five had intention to move to the senior community available to work. The more active in work and/or leisure in later life, the higher intention to work together and/or to move to the community. Those results generally supported the previous research showed that the needs of work and leisure in later life would be increased and varied, therefor housing for the elderly should considered work space and program as well as leisure. The further study was suggested to focus on the potential and current residents in the sample case of the comprehensive welfare town for the elderly by local administration.

노년기의 성공적 노화와 취로 활동 : 일본의 오가와노쇼 오야키무라 사례를 중심으로 (Successful Aging and Work Activities during Elderly Period: Focused on the Case of Ogawanosho Oyakimura in Japan)

  • 본 논문은 고령자의 사회참여의 일 형식으로서 경제활동에 대한 대안적 인식의 필요성과 이에 따른 고령자 교육의 과제를 제기하기 위하여 추진되었다. 이를 위하여 일본의 '보람 취로'의 개념과 실천사례를 고찰하였다. 문헌연구를 통하여 일본의 국가 및 지자체의 고령자정책사업을 개관하는 가운데 그 특징을 살피어 보았다. 그리고 고령자들이 자주적인 회사설립을 통하여 추진한 사례, 오가와노쇼 오야키무라의 실천을 현지방문과 인터뷰조사를 통하여 고찰하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 고령자의 경제활동은 성공적 노화의 관점에서 전개되어야 할 필요가 있고 이러한 경제활동은, 일본의 '보람취로'에서와 같이 다음과 같은 특징을 가진다. 첫째, 고령자상에 대한 변화된 인식이 필요하다. 고령자는 사회적 활용의 가치가 있는 경험자원을 가진 존재이다. 둘째, 고령자가 가진 경험자원을 사회적 가치로 창조하여 내는 교육과 기관경영이 필요하다. 셋째, 노년기에 부합한 일에 대한 유연한 인식이 필요하다. 즉 노년기의 심리적 고독경향, 사회적 단절 특성을 반영하고 이외에도 의미있는 존재가 되고 싶은 노년기의 요구를 반영한 일의 고안이 필요하다. 그러므로 향후 고령자 교육은 보람취로의 관점에서 일 교육에 대한 방침과 실천을 고안할 필요가 있다.

노인요양시설 종사자의 업무환경, 직무만족이 서비스 질에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Work Environment and Job Satisfaction on Service Quality among Staff in Elderly Facility)

  • Purpose: This study examined the effect of work environment and job satisfaction on service quality among staff caring for the elderly. Methods: A convenient sample was 192 staff members from 95 elderly facilities. Data collection occurred from June to July, 2011 using a self-administered questionnaire. Data was analyzed using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Among the subscales of Work Environment Scale, the self-realization score was the highest followed by workload, nervousness, and conflict. The mean score of job satisfaction was 71.43. Reliability was the highest followed by assurance, empathy, responsiveness, and tangibles. Predictive factors of service quality included self-realization work environment and job satisfaction. Conclusion: Exploration of strategies to improve the recognition of self-realization work environment and job satisfaction will be necessary in order to increase of service quality among staffs in elderly facility.

고령자의 비업무통행에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석: 수도권 사례를 중심으로 (A Study on the Factors Concerning Non-Work Trip of the Elderly People : A case of Seoul Metropolitan Area)

  • 본 연구에서는 2006년 수도권 가구통행실태조사 자료를 활용하여 비업무통행빈도에 대한 고령자의 통행특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과 비업무통행빈도에 대한 고령자의 통행특성은 타 연령층과 상이한 것으로 나타났으며, 분석모형은 특정 변수에 이분산성을 가정한 이분산 서열로짓모형의 설명력이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 모형추정 결과 고령자는 연령층이 낮을수록, 여성일수록, 운전면허를 가지고 있을수록, 직업 및 가구내 미취학 아동이 없을수록, 그리고 가구내 특정수준 이상의 월평균소득이 있을 경우 비업무통행빈도가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 분석결과에 대한 정책적 시사점으로 모든 고령자에 대하여 획일적인 교통정책을 수립하는 것 보다 고령자의 개인적 특성차이(연령대별 건강상태 등)를 고려한 교통정책이 수립되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

노부모와 동거하는 기혼여성자녀의 시장노동 참여 및 참여 시간 결정 요인 : 기혼여성자녀와 노부모와의 시간자원 이전을 중심으로 (Intergenerational Time Transfers between Married Women and their Co-residing Elderly Parents and their Impact on Married Women's Labor Force Participation)

  • This paper examines the intergenerational time transfers between married women and their co-residing elderly parents, and how they affect married women's labor force participation and work hour. The sample was drawn from the "2004 Time Use Survey" conducted by Korea National Statistical Office and the Heckman's 2-step model was estimated to examine these relationships. We find that women's caregiving time for their elderly parents reduces their likelihood of participating in the labor force. On the contrary, parental time transfers for married women increases the probability of their labor force participation. We find no evidence that the actual hours of paid work is related to the time transfers between married women and their elderly parents. In other words, after married women decide to participate in the labor force, their work hours are not affected by the time spent for parents and time gained from parents to them. Parental income is positively associated with the married women's labor force participation whereas husband's income is negatively related. The married women working in service occupation and earn salaries work longer hours than those employed as laborer and wage workers. Having older parents and owning the second home reduce working hours of married women.

치매노인과의 관계개선을 위한 중풍노인 이야기치료 집단상담 사례 연구 (A Qualitative Case Study of the Narrative therapy group work on the elderly with palsy to solve conflict with the elderly with dementia)

  • 본 연구는 주간보호센터의 중풍노인이 이야기치료 집단상담을 통해 치매노인과의 갈등을 해결하는 과정을 탐색하는 연구이다. 중풍노인에 대한 이야기치료 집단상담을 7회 동안 실시한 과정을 사례연구방법을 통해 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 중풍 노인들이 집단상담을 통해 치매노인을 '문제'가 아니라 '치매로 고통받는 사람'으로 보고, 치매노인을 비난하는 대신 도와줄 방법을 적극적으로 찾게 되었으며, 둘째, 자신들을 '치매노인의 피해자'가 아니라 '유능한 사람 으로 규정하게 되었고, 셋째, 중풍노인들끼리 협력적이고 친밀한 관계가 되었으며, 넷째, 중풍노인들이 주간보호센터 운영에 적극적으로 참여하게 된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 변화에 이야기치료의 문제와 사람을 분리시키기, 클라이언트를 자기 문제의 전문가로 존중하기, 독특한 결과 찾기 등이 도움이 된 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 장기요양보호대상자에게 보호를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 참여 기회를 확대하고, 이야기치료를 노인에게 적용할 것을 제안하였다.
