  • To investigate the change of internal stress and mobile dislocation density in the creep, stress relaxation test was examined from each strain range. Mobile dislocation density increased until it reached minimum creep rate but after that, it decreased. Internal stress did not change until it reached minimum creep rate but after that, it decreased. The stress relaxation rate is fast and approached zero later 1.5 seconds, which were begun in the stress relaxation. When the applied stress is large, the internal stress is large. It is cleared that dislocations glide viscously which N passes by cutting Cr atom rather than typical viscosity movement by the evaluation of mobility of dislocation in STS310J1TB.

  • 25Cr-20Ni series strainless steels have an excellent high temperature strength high oxidation and high corrosion resistance. However, further improvement can be expected of creep strength by work hardening prior creep. In the present study, the effect of prestraining at room temperature on the creep behavior of a Class M(STS310S) and a Class A(STS310J1TB) alloy containing precipitates have been examined. Prestaining was carried out at room temperature and range of prestrain was 0.5-2.5 % at STS310J1TB and 2.0-7.0% at STS310S. Creep behavior and creep rate of pre-strained specimens were compared with that of virgin specimens. Room temperature prestraining produced the creep life that is longer than that of a virgin specimen both for STS310J1TB and STS310S when creep test was carried out at the temperature lower than recrystallization temperature. The reason for this improvement of creep life was ascribable to the interaction between dislocations and precipitates in addition to the dislocation-dislocation interaction in STS310J1TB and the dislocation-dislocation interaction in STS310S. The beneficial effect of prestraining in STS310J1TB was larger than that of STS310S.

  • The effect of temperature and strain rate on the deformation behavior of $\alpha$-uranium was investigated in the temperature ranged 300$^{\circ}$ to 55$0^{\circ}C$ by strain, rate change test. Strain rate sensitivity, activation volume, strain rate sensitivity exponent and dislocation velocity exponent were determined. The strain rate sensitivity exponent and dislocation velocity exponent were determined. The strain rate sensitivity exponent increases with strain below 40$0^{\circ}C$, while the exponent decreases with strain above 50$0^{\circ}C$. It is believed that the increase of strain rate sensitivity exponent with strain below 40$0^{\circ}C$ can be attributed to an increase in internal stress as a result of work hardening while decrease of the exponent with strain above 50$0^{\circ}C$ is due to predominance of thermal softening over work hardening because more slip, system are active in deformation above about 50$0^{\circ}C$.

  • Numerical modeling was conducted to estimate the amount of dislocation that may occur across a frictionless fracture during an earthquake using commercial code FLAC3D (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in 3 Dimensions). The applied motion was calculated to represent a Richter 6.0 magnitude earthquake at distances of 2 km from the fracture. The velocity-time history was generated from Svensk $K{\ddot{a}}arnbr{\ddot{a}}anslehantering$ AB report. In the report, The velocity field resulting from an earthquake on a fault located in the near-field (2 km distance) was modelled using a finite difference program, WAVE. The stress-time history was substituted for velocity-time history to perform dynamic analysis using FLAC3D. During the earthquake, the maximum dislocation and change of shear stress were about 1 cm and 2MPa, respectively. Because the fracture is frictionless in this study, all dislocations relax to zero after the earthquake motions have ceased.

  • A work on the brittle to ductile transition (BDT) in single crystal alumina has been performed to understand and assess the dynamics of dislocation mobility around crack tip of brittle material. The critical stress intensity factor and yield strengths were obtained from bending test using precracked specimens at elevated temperatures. It was found that the BDT temperature was dependent on strain rate and orientation of specimen : for (1120) fracture surface, $1034^{\circ}C$, $1150^{\circ}C$ for $4.2 \times 10^{-6}$, $4.2 \times 10^{-7}s^{-1}$ respectively. Under a 4 point bending test, the moving distance of dislocation generated near crack front in ductile range is determined by an etch pits method. The velocity of dislocation in sapphire obtained from the double etching method was applied to modelling study.

  • A uniform velocity field of crust can be obtained by cumulative multi-year GPS data. Then the shortening and sliding of drape zones between Chinese Continent Blocks can be researched through the velocity field and dynamics meaning is also analyzed. A model of movement and strain is created to extract displacing and rotating information of blocks in this paper. On the basis of it, the shortening vectors and sliding states of drape zones between blocks can be obtained by the model of level center of gravity moving velocity vectors between neighboring blocks. Some result show as follows. India plate jostles greatly toward north, so a complicated movement situation is formed for 14 sub-blocks. And self-deformations of inner tectosomes can be greatly reflected according to the characteristics of drape zones between tectosomes. The extrusion deformation exists between Himalaya and Qiangtang blocks. Its contraction ratio is about 20.1 $mm.a^{-1}$. However, it only is $mm.a^{-1}$ between Tarim and Zhungar. The deformation characteristics and contraction ratio of other drape zones are obviously different with the former. The movement characteristics of contraction, shear, dislocation, etc. are showed in these zones. The average contraction ratio is about 5.0 $mm.a^{-1}$. The whole trend in the west continent has a big movement toward north, and in the east continent has a small movement toward south or southeast. The strain of west continent is far bigger than that of east, and the strain of southwest is bigger than that of the southeast. It is whole showed that India plate jostles toward north-east and the south-north zone has cutting and absorbing phenomena. The total characteristics and present-day trends of deformation of inland drape zones are basically described by the sinistrorse dislocation in south-north zone and Arjin fracture, the sinistrorse shear between south china and north china, etc.

  • Ultrasonic nonlinearity is very sensitive to changes in material properties. This paper describes the study of the correlation between heat treatment and ultrasonic nonlinearity by taking nonlinear factors into consideration. A modified formula was proposed for ultrasonic velocity. This formula indicated that the changes occurring in nonlinearity during heat treatments cause changes in the ultrasonic velocity. The experimental results show that the relative nonlinearity parameters calculated from the modified ultrasonic velocities and the ratio of amplitudes of the second harmonic and fundamental wave are in good agreement. The experimental results prove that heat treatment can result in changes in material nonlinearity. Moreover, the relative nonlinearity parameter calculated from the modified velocity formula is has a large value. Since this parameter has high sensitivity to changes in nonlinearity, it can be used to represent the relative nonlinearity change calculated in this study by using the modified formula for ultrasonic velocity.

  • Growth form and surface morphology of NYAB single crystal grown by TSSG technique using a K2O/3MoOS/0.5B203 flux was investigated. In the crystal grown from <100> or <120> seed, prismatic and (101) faces were well developed with different size each other. (001) face was also developed in the crystal grown from <001> seed. While growth hillocks were observed on the prismatic face of the crystal grown from <100> seed, surface striations parallel to neighbor (101) faces were formed on that face of the crystal grown from <001> seed. The (101) faces were grown by two dimensional nucleation growth. (001) face which was developed at slow growth velocity of [001] direction was grown by screw dislocation Anisotropy of growth velocity as to seed orientation affected on crystal morphology and surface morphology.
