In Korea, over 97% of local energy demand is imported from other countries. And we have to lift the energy independence level up to 5% with replacement energy(renewable energy) such as solar, wind..etc. by 2011 according to the energy agreement made in Kyoto Protocol. So, we proposed some opinions such as the better improvement of solar thermal industry the people' view, cooperation among industry/university/research institutes, remote control/maintenance and government's legislature and supporting system etc.

Becoming effective on Kyoto protocol, reduction of greenhouse gas is an urgent concern of our world. Transportation, depending on fossil fuel, is required to transfer higher effiency and green tech. oriented one. Electric Vehicle-EV-is take attention with its ability not only to reduce CO2 emission in transportation, but also to support load levelizing, spinning reserve, increase power quality on microgrid. This paper presents the recent policy for EV diffusion and the effects on power system demand and local system power quality.

On our return to India from Germany, we have worked on the development of parabolic solar concentrators with input and collaboration of German and Austrian inventors. We have gradually improved the solar technologies to include food processing based on inputs and feedback from users to fulfill their specific requirements. We will discuss the acceptability and commercialisation of various systems that we have successfully developed, their implications and their benefit. These success stories can work as multipliers. These concentrators can have various other applications. The Global Treaty Kyoto Protocol's CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) can result in a win-win situation for both developing and developed nations and the world environment at large - whereby developed nations get carbon credits by supporting renewable energy projects in developing nations. North-South dialogue and South-South dialogue can effectively foster global co-operation meaningfully to benefit People and environments ensuring sustainable development and protection of Our planet Earth, our only HOME!!!

WASP which is used to plan generation expansion has disadvantages that can't manage environmental factors and regional supply-demand planning. But with the effectuation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol, it is expected that reducing greenhouse gases affects power system in its long-term generation expansion planning. Therefore national countermeasures is needed. This paper formulates a mathematical model considering CO2 emission constraints and Emission Trading that will be enforced. This model is based on the ORIRES which was made by ESI, Russia and manages generation expansion planning. And this mathematical model is verified by studying a case system.

Many countries have been interested in sustainable development of buildings for environmental preservation. Thus it is significant to assess building envelopes in terms of $CO_2$ emissions owing to Kyoto Protocol. In this paper, a Double Skin Facade(DSF) installed in a general office building was assessed by $CO_2$ emissions(one of the performance-based assessment). To predict $CO_2$ emissions caused by the building energy consumption, the dynamic simulation program(Energy Plus) and $CO_2$ emission factor was used. Because DSF has various airflow regimes, pre-simulation runs were conducted to decide proximate optimal airflow regimes depending on seasonal variation. It is shown that the DSF can achieve 17.1-36.5% of annual energy savings.

Most countries have been focused on the CDM(Clean Development Mechanism). According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, CDM is an arrangement under the Kyoto Protocol allowing industrialized countries with a greenhouse gas reduction commitment to invest in projects that reduce emissions in developing countries as an alternative to more expensive emission reductions in their own countries. There are many environmental problems which resulted from development of IT field. The main objective of this paper is to find an effective methodology as an initial stage for applications of green IT in a real life. Therefore this paper addresses worldwide reviews on green IT products.

Nowadays the concern about development and diffusion strategics of new & renewable energy and its technologies is getting higher globally as Kyoto Protocol has taken effect this year and oil has been rising in price tremendously. Developed countries have already commenced the study and research for this problem and are looking for various solutions. In this paper, environment of new & renewable energy in Korea is analyzed and estimated using diffusion model as a pre-study for proposing appropriate strategies and feasible methods.

지구환경문제 중 지구온난화는 에너지 사용과 상관 관계가 있기 때문에 국가간에 이해 관계가 완전히 해결되지 못한 상태이나, 1997년 쿄토 의정서가 체결됨으로써 우리나라에도 구체적 시행시기 및 감축의무에 대한 압력이 가중되고 있다. 지구 온난화에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 $CO_2$에 대한 규제는 이미 유럽에서 자동차 규제, 탄소세 도입, 화력발전소 건설 규제 등의 형태로 나타나고 있다. 우리나라 전체 이산화탄소 배출량 중 에너지분야에서 배출되는 이산화탄소는 약 25% 정도인 것으로 알려져 있다. (중략)
