  • In this paper, we discuss the force control of flexible manipulators. Since the force control of flexible manipulators with planar one or two links using the distributed-parameter modeling has been the subject of a considerable number of publications until now, real time computations of the force control schemes are possible. But, application of those control schemes to multi-link spatial manipulators is fairly complicated. In this paper, we apply a concise hybrid position/force control scheme for a flexible manipulators. We use a lumped-parameter modeling for the flexible manipulators. The Hamilton's principle is applied to derive the equations of motion for the system and then, state-space model is obtained by the Lagrange's method. Finally, comparison of simulation results with experimental results is given to show the performance of our method.

  • In hospitals, nurses are subjectively determining the urine status to check the kidneys and circulatory system of patients whose statuses are related to patients with kidney disease, critically ill patients, and nursing homes before and after surgery. To improve this problem, this paper proposes a urine spectrum analysis system which clusters urine test results based on a hybrid machine learning model consists of unsupervised learning and supervised learning. The proposed system clusters the spectral data using unsupervised learning in the first part, and classifies them using supervised learning in the second part. The results of the proposed urine spectrum analysis system using a mixed model are evaluated with the results of pure supervised learning. This paper is expected to provide better services than existing medical services to patients by solving the shortage of nurses, shortening of examination time, and subjective evaluation in hospitals.

  • We developed the hybrid model coupled with predictive model and business rule model for administration of injury by utilizing medical data of the National Health Insurance in Korea. We performed decision tree analysis using data mining methodology and used SAS Enterprise Miner 4.1. We also investigated under several business rule for benefits (expense paid by insurer) and claims of injury in National Health Insurance Corporation. We can see that the proposed hybrid model provides a quite efficient plausible results.

  • In this paper, we propose the robust features extraction method of human by using the skeleton model and hybrid silhouette model. The proposed feature extraction method is divided by hands, shoulder line and elbow region extraction. We use the peer's color information to find the position of hands and propose the circle detection method to extract the shoulder line and elbow. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • In order to optimize fuzzy model, we use the optimal algorithm with a hybrid type in the identification of premise parameters and standard least square method in the identification of consequence parameters of a fuzzy model. The hybrid optimal identification algorithm is carried out using a genetic algorithm and improved complex method. Also, the performance index with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between the insults of performance for the training and testing data. Several numerical examples are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.

  • This paper presents the first domestic model product of hybrid Insulation low-loss type pole transformer, with increased overload ability, increased life, reduced loss, focusing improved short-circuit characteristics. The capacity of this transformer is 100 KVZ, rates first voltage 13200 V and secondary voltage 230/115 type. The volume of model transformer that was produced in high temperature using hybrid insulation can be reduced to 10-20% in comparison with that of present transformer with the same capacity. In this paper, we did short-circuit test and tested general characteristics of model transformer. In addition, we suggested design application new concept and methods thorough this experiment.

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) research is recently actively underway. Especially, fuel cell battery hybrid systems are widely used to overcome the limitations of continuous operation. However, fuel cell systems must be operated in combination with a battery due to their low specific output characteristics. Therefore, a hybrid power system model for UAVs is developed. The rule-based strategy is applied to the model to properly distribute power to batteries and fuel cells. As a result, the designed rule-based power distribution control operates UAVs while maintaining battery state of charge(SOC) at an appropriate level.

  • The investigation on vehicle-bridge coupling system (VBCS) is crucial in bridge design, bridge condition evaluation, and vehicle overload control. A real-time hybrid testing (RTHT) method for VBCS (RTHT-VBCS) is proposed in this paper for accurately and economically disclosing the dynamic performance of VBCSs. In the proposed method, one of the carriages is chosen as the experimental substructure loaded by servo-hydraulic actuator loading system in the laboratory, and the remaining carriages as well as the bridge structure are chosen as the numerical substructure numerically simulated in one computer. The numerical substructure and the experimental substructure are synchronized at their coupling points in terms of force equilibrium and deformation compatibility. Compared to the traditional iteration experimental method and the numerical simulation method, the proposed RTHT-VBCS method could not only obtain the dynamic response of VBCS, but also economically analyze various working conditions. Firstly, the theory of RTHT-VBCS is proposed. Secondly, numerical models of VBCS for RTHT method are presented. Finally, the feasibility and accuracy of the RTHT-VBCS are preliminarily validated by real-time hybrid simulations (RTHSs). It is shown that, the proposed RTHT-VBCS is feasible and shows great advantages over the traditional methods, and the proposed models can effectively represent the VBCS for RTHT method in terms of the force equilibrium and deformation compatibility at the coupling point. It is shown that the results of the single-degree-of-freedom model and the train vehicle model are match well with the referenced results. The RTHS results preliminarily prove the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed RTHT-VBCS.

  • This paper presents a hybrid numerical approach, which combines a two-phase Navier-Stokes model (NS) and the fully nonlinear potential theory (FNPT), for modelling wave-structure interaction. The former governs the computational domain near the structure, where the viscous and turbulent effects are significant, and is solved by OpenFOAM/InterDyMFoam which utilising the finite volume method (FVM) with a Volume of Fluid (VOF) for the phase identification. The latter covers the rest of the domain, where the fluid may be considered as incompressible, inviscid and irrotational, and solved by using the Quasi Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian finite element method (QALE-FEM). These two models are weakly coupled using a zonal (spatially hierarchical) approach. Considering the inconsistence of the solutions at the boundaries between two different sub-domains governed by two fundamentally different models, a relaxation (transitional) zone is introduced, where the velocity, pressure and surface elevations are taken as the weighted summation of the solutions by two models. In order to tackle the challenges associated and maximise the computational efficiency, further developments of the QALE-FEM have been made. These include the derivation of an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian FNPT and application of a robust gradient calculation scheme for estimating the velocity. The present hybrid model is applied to the numerical simulation of a fixed horizontal cylinder subjected to a unidirectional wave with or without following current. The convergence property, the optimisation of the relaxation zone, the accuracy and the computational efficiency are discussed. Although the idea of the weakly coupling using the zonal approach is not new, the present hybrid model is the first one to couple the QALE-FEM with OpenFOAM solver and/or to be applied to numerical simulate the wave-structure interaction with presence of current.

  • The library could get infinite possibilities of the space, if people had recognized that the library was not only the space for the reading and collecting of the books but also a special space for accomplishment of the investigation, learning, communication, and culture. Also, it can be desirable way for implementing the hybrid library. It means that combine with the traditional library which is the most important thing is a real space and the digital library, in contrast, the which is that the most important thing is the cyberspace. The purpose of this study is to develop a practical model for hybrid library based on the concept of information commons which is cooperation of the space, information technology and information services. This study intends to figure out the core elements involved in operative aspect of hybrid library through comparative analysis of domestic and foreign cases applied Information commons concepts to the library.
