  • We developed an algorithm to simulate the generation of virtual nanowebs using the Monte Carlo method. To evaluate the pore size of the simulated multi-layered nanoweb, an estimation algorithm was developed using a ghost particle having zero volume and mass. The penetration time of the ghost particle through the virtual nanoweb was dependent on the pore size. By using iterative ghost particle penetrations, we obtained reliable data for the evaluation of the pore size and distribution of the virtual nanowebs. The penetration time increased with increasing number of layers and area ratio, whereas it decreased with increasing fiber diameter. Dimensional analysis showed that the penetration time can be expressed as a function of the fiber diameter, area ratio and number of layers.

  • The under-evaluation structure includes a functionally graded porous (FGP) core which is confined by two piezoelectric carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (CNTRC) layers. The whole structure rests on the Pasternak foundation. Using quasi-3D hyperbolic shear deformation theory, governing equations of a sandwich plate are driven. Moreover, face sheets are subjected to the electric field and the whole model is under thermal loading. The properties of all layers alter continuously along with thickness direction due to the CNTs and pores distributions. By conducting the current study, the results emerged in detail to assess the effects of different parameters on buckling of structure. As instance, it is revealed that highest and lowest critical buckling load and consequently stiffness, is due to the V-A and A-V CNTs dispersion type, respectively. Furthermore, it is revealed that by porosity coefficient enhancement, critical buckling load and consequently, stiffness reduces dramatically. Current paper results can be used in various high-tech industries as aerospace factories.

  • In conventional heating, the heat source causes the molecules to react from the surface toward the center so that successive layers of molecules heat in turn. In the microwave heating, which is produced a volume heating effect, all molecules are set in action at the same time. And, It also evens temperature gradients without the concern of material thickness. (omitted)

  • Protective clothing for firefighters typically consists of a flame resistant outer shell and inner layers. The inner layers are generally composed of a moisture barrier and a thermal barrier. On performing the task in fire place the heat and perspiration generated from the body become trapped inside the protective clothing. Those heat and moisture result into heat-stress and physical fatigue of fire fighter, which hinder the work. Therefore, the system of clothing designs and material layers must be chosen carefully to balance protection and comfort. 3 kinds of protective clothing of 3 layer structure were used in the experiment of physiological comfort. From the comparison of wear trials with the 3 kinds of layers in firefighters clothing, it indicates that the moisture dissipation of A+B2+C was highest, following A+BI+C andA+B3+C. And the heat dissipation of A+BI+C and A+B2+C were better than A+B3+C. In the protective clothing with A+B3+C, heat and perspiration generated through exercise remained in clothing system long and caused discomfort.

  • Garment manufacture represents the final stage of processing a finished fabric. The main task of the garment manufacturer is to produce shell structures out of flat fabrics to match the shape of the human body, and the most acceptable means of joining textile materials for apparel use is by sewing. On the sewing process, the bottom layer is pushed forward by the feed-dog, but the presser foot tends to retard the passage of the top layer. Since the friction between the layers is low, is possible that the components will move out of phase and pucker. (omitted)

  • Conventional heating the heat source cause the molecules to react from the surface toward the center so that successive layers of molecules heat in turn. The product surfaces may be in danger of over heating by the time heat penetrates the material. Microwave, however, produce a volume heating effect. All molecules are set in action at the same time. It also evens temperature gradients and offers other important benefits such as selective heating. (omitted)

  • Unit cell analyses were peformed to study the engineering properties of satin weave textile composites. Two 5-harness satin weave layers with fiber tow shifts were modeled by unit cells and repeating boundary conditions were applied at the outer surface of the unit cells. Multi-field macroelements were employed to consider the microstructure details and to effectively reduce computer memory requirements. Preliminary results indicated that the engineering properties of 5-harness satin weave textile composites can vary significantly according to the manner how the adjacent fiber tows were arranged in stacking.
