  • The purpose of the study is to develop an integrated viewer which can display both text and image files on the Internet environment. Up to now, most viewers for full-text databases can be displayed documents only by image or graphic viewers. The newly developed system can compress document files in commercial word processors (e.g, 한글TM, WordTM, ExceITM, PowerpointTM, HunminJungumTM, ArirangTM, CADTM), as well as conventional TIFF image file in smaller size, which were converted into DVI(DeVice Independent) file format, and display them on computer screen. IDoc Viewer was evaluated to test its performance by user group, consisting of 5 system developers, 5 librarians, and 10 end-users. IDoc Viewer has been proved to be good or excellent at 20 out of 26 check lists.

  • In recent years, main focus of research on image retrieval techniques is on content-based image retrieval. Text-based image retrieval schemes, on the other hand, provide semantic support and efficient retrieval of matching images. In this paper, based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), we propose a new image indexing and retrieval technique. The proposed scheme uses keywords and textual annotations and provides semantic support with fast retrieval of images. Retrieval efficiency in this scheme is independent of the number of images in the database and depends only on the number of attributes. This scheme provides dynamic support for addition of new images in the database and can be adopted to find images with any number of matching attributes.

  • Objectives : Overlapping contents between two recently discovered Han period bamboo slats, the so-called "Beidahanjian" and the "Liushibingfang" have been identified. This study aims to present new knowledge that could be inferred from the concordance of these two texts. Methods : The most recent original texts of the medical part of the Beidahanjian and medical texts excavated from the Laoguanshan in addition to the Liushibingfang were compared with each other to determine identical parts. The meaning of these concordances was explored. Results : Identical sentences in two verses in the Beidahanjian and the Laoguanshan were identified. Conclusions : The Beidahanjian is a credible Western Han period text, of which the medical bamboo slats are likely to comprise an independent text that is a combination of ancient folk prescriptions and those of doctors.

  • Preliminary results of using the LPC parameter for text-independent speaker identification problem are presented. The idetification process includes log likelihood ratio for distance measure and dynamic programming for time normalization. To generate the data base for experiments, ten times. Experimental results show 99.4% of identification accuracy, incorrect identification were made when the speaker uses a dialect.

  • In this paper, we propose a text-independent speaker identification system which has a classifier composed of two parts; to calculate the degree of likeness of each speech frame and to select the most probable speaker from the entire speech duration. The first part is realized using RBFN which is selforganized through learning and in the second part the speaker is determined using a con-tbination of MAXNET and delayed summings. And we use features from linear speech production model and features from fractal geometry. Closed-set speaker identification experiments on 13 male homogeneous speakers show that the proposed techniques can achieve the identification ratio of 100% as the number of delays increases.

  • In this paper, we propose speaker verification method using Support Vector Machine (SVM) kernel with Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM)-supervector based on the Mahalanobis distance. The proposed GMM-supervector SVM kernel method is combined GMM with SVM. The GMM-supervectors are generated by GMM parameters of speaker and other speaker utterances. A speaker verification threshold of GMM-supervectors is decided by SVM kernel based on Mahalanobis distance to improve speaker verification accuracy. The experimental results for text-independent speaker verification using 20 speakers demonstrates the performance of the proposed method compared to GMM, SVM, GMM-supervector SVM kernel based on Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence, and GMM-supervector SVM kernel based on Bhattacharyya distance.

  • In this paper, we study the enhancement of VQ (Vector Quantization) design for text independent speaker recognition. In a concrete way, we present a non-iterative method which makes a vector quantization codebook and this method performs non-iterative learning so that the computational complexity is epochally reduced The proposed Classified Space VQ (CSVQ) design method for text Independent speaker recognition is generalized from Semi-noniterative VQ design method for text dependent speaker recognition. CSVQ contrasts with the existing desiEn method which uses the iterative learninE algorithm for every traininE speaker. The characteristics of a CSVQ design is as follows. First, the proposed method performs the non-iterative learning by using a Classified Space Codebook. Second, a quantization region of each speaker is equivalent for the quantization region of a Classified Space Codebook. And the quantization point of each speaker is the optimal point for the statistical distribution of each speaker in a quantization region of a Classified Space Codebook. Third, Classified Space Codebook (CSC) is constructed through Sample Vector Formation Method (CSVQ1, 2) and Hyper-Lattice Formation Method (CSVQ 3). In the numerical experiment, we use the 12th met-cepstrum feature vectors of 10 speakers and compare it with the existing method, changing the codebook size from 16 to 128 for each Classified Space Codebook. The recognition rate of the proposed method is 100% for CSVQ1, 2. It is equal to the recognition rate of the existing method. Therefore the proposed CSVQ design method is, reducing computational complexity and maintaining the recognition rate, new alternative proposal and CSVQ with CSC can be applied to a general purpose recognition.

  • This paper presents the text-prompt method to overcome the weakness of text-dependent and text-independent speaker recognition. Enhanced dynamic time warping for speaker recognition algorithm is applied. For the real-time processing, we use a simple algorithm for end-point detection without increasing computational complexity. The test shows that the weighted-cepstrum is most proper for speaker recognition among various speech parameters. As the experimental results of the proposed algorithm for three prompt words, the speaker identification error rate is 0.02%, and when the threshold is set properly, false rejection rate is 1.89%, false acceptance rate is 0.77% and verification total error rate is 0.97% for speaker verification.
