Hyper-Text Compression Method Based on LZW Dictionary Entry Management (개선된 LZW 사전 관리 기법에 기반한 효과적인 Hyper-Text 문서 압축 방안)

  • LZW is a popular variant of LZ78 to compress text documents. LZW yields a high compression rate and is widely used by many commercial programs. Its core idea is to assign most probably used character group an entry in a dictionary. If a group of character which is already positioned in a dictionary appears in the streaming data, then an index of a dictionary is replaced in the position of character group. In this paper, we propose a new efficient method to find least used entries in a dictionary using counter. We also achieve higher compression rate by preassigning widely used tags in hyper-text documents. Experimental results show that the proposed method is more effective than V.42bis and Unix compression method. It gives 3∼8% better in the standard Calgary Corpus and 23∼24% better in HTML documents.

gABC: A Text Entry Framework using Gamepad (gABC: 게임패드를 이용한 문자 입력 방법)

  • As the performance of game consoles is so highly progressed that services such as internet browsing become available on the consoles, the need for text input schemes on game consoles is rapidly raised. In this paper, we present a text input method of alphabet characters and several symbols using a gamepad, which is a widely used input device for most game consoles. Just like other text input methods using gamepad, our method allows users to enter texts by manipulating the gamepad with a user interface displayed on the screen of the console. A key idea of this paper is to present the user interface that is similar to the $4{\times}3$ keypad on mobile phones. The motivation of this idea is a principle that the experience of using a text input tool can be transferred to another tool that has similar interface. Another motivation is that the keyboard-based interface is too complex to be easily manipulated by simple input from a keypad, which is four orthogonal directions and several fire signals. Since most of keys on keypad of $4{\times}3$ keys are represented by a combination of two orthogonal directions, users feel easier in entering texts using keypad-based interface. We prove this argument in this paper by a user test of ten subjects. After about two experiment sessions, subjects reach 13 WPM in average, which proves that the proposed text input method enables much faster text input than the existing keyboard-based text input methods.

  • Initial entry section has vulnerability which exposes plain text parameter in Mobile WIMAX environment which is the 4th generation technology. Each node message need to be encrypted to prevent the third party attack or message leakage. In this paper, we propose Mobile WIMAX initial entry section encryption using Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem. We have compared proposed model with existing model using OPNET simulator tool. He delay rate has increased little bit in initial entry section than before after the comparison, but it has shown more effective in average delay and throughput than encryption applied other existing model.

A Study on the Finding of Promising Export Items in Defense industry for Export Market Expansion-Focusing on Text Mining Analysis-

  • This paper aims to find promising export items for market expansion of defense export items. Germany, the UK, and France were selected as export target countries to obtain unstructured forecast data on weapons system acquisition plans for the next ten years by each country. Using the TF-IDF in text mining analysis, keywords that appeared frequently in data from three countries were derived. As a result of this paper, keywords for each country's major acquisition projects drawing. However, most of the derived keywords were related to mainstay weapon systems produced by domestic defense companies in each country. To discover promising export items from text mining, we proposed that the drawn keywords are distinguished as similar weapon systems. In addition, we assort the weapon systems that the three countries will get a plan to acquire commonly. As a result of this paper, it can be seen that the current promising export item is a weapon system related to the information system. Prioritizing overseas demands using key words can set clear market entry goals. In the case of domestic companies based on needs, it is possible to establish a specific entry strategy. Relevant organizations also can provide customized marketing support.

One-key Keyboard: A Very Small QWERTY Keyboard Supporting Text Entry for Wearable Computing (원키 키보드: 웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에서 문자입력을 지원하는 초소형 QWERTY 키보드)

  • 웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에서 사용 가능한 키보드는 부담 없이 착용할 수 있어야 하며 충분히 빠른 속도로 문자를 입력할 수 있어야 한다. 또한 일반적인 사용자도 특별한 훈련과정 없이 쉽게 사용할 수 있어야 한다. 상용화된 웨어러블 컴퓨팅용 입력장치는 주로 소형화 QWERTY 키보드인데 공통적으로 키 수를 줄이는 방식을 택하고 있다. 그러나 줄이는 키 수에 대응하여 문자 입력을 위한 키 입력 수(KSPC: Key Strokes per Character)가 증가하기 때문에 입력효율이 저하되고 학습을 위한 요구되는 노력이 또한 증가한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 Halfkeyboard, WristPC keyboard, FrogPad 등 상품화된 키보드는 충분히 작은 사이즈가 아니어서 일상적으로 부담 없이 수용하기에는 물의가 있다. 본 연구는 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 키 간격을 줄여 극적으로 키보드를 소형화할 수 있는 원키 키보드라는 개념을 제안하였다. 전통적인 키보드의 경우 하나의 키에 하나의 문자가 할당되는데 반해 원키 키보드는 하나의 키 판 위에 10*5 배열의 QWERTY 키보드 문자배열을 표시하게 하였다. 또한 표시된 문자판에서 어떤 것을 선택하여 눌렀는지 손가락의 위치를 센싱하여 해당 문자를 입력하도록 하였다. 70mm*35mm 크기의 원키 키보드에 대한 실험결과 착용성과 사회적 수용성이 우수하였으며 5 세션의 시도를 통해 평균 18.9WPM 의 입력속도와 교정되지 않은 순수 에러율 0.87%를 기록하였다.

ButtonKeyboard: A Button-shaped Keyboard Supporting Text entry for Wearable Devices (버튼 키보드: 웨어러블 기기에서 문자입력을 지원하는 단추형 키보드)

  • 웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에서 문자입력은 필수적인 태스크이나 적절한 유저 인터페이스를 지원하기란 쉽지 않다. 탁상용 QWERTY 키보드를 소형화하여 상용화한 제품도 있지만 일상에서 사용하기에는 상당히 부담스러운 크기이다. 본 연구는 단추와 유사한 크기로 부담 없이 의복에 부착할 수 있으며 적정 수준으로 문자입력 태스크를 지원할 수 있는 버튼 키보드를 제안한다. 버튼키보드는 기존 전화키패드의 $3{\times}3$ 키 배열을 단일 키 패드로 통합하였다. 이는 내구성 있고 간결한 폼팩터를 가능하게 하며 입력장치의 소형화와 문자입력효율의 향상을 가능하게 한다. 버튼키보드는 일반 키보드용 키에 터치센서와 LED 배열을 합성하여 구현하였다. 따라서 손가락의 위치에 따라 이격, 터치, 누름등의 상태를 구분할 수 있어 멀티탭핑방식에서 발생하는 입력분절문제를 해결하였으며 와이핑 모션에 의한 특수문자와 명령 입력을 가능하게 하였다. 프로토타입을 통해 문자입력수행도 테스트 결과 20세션 학습후 한손입력에 대해 평균 14.7WPM, 두손입력에 대해 평균 14.5WPM의 입력속도를 얻었다. 20세션 평균 에러율은 6%를 기록했으며 최고속도는 두손입력시 17WPM으로 나타났다. 실험결과를 통해 본 연구에서 제안한 버튼키보드가 기기를 극적으로 소형화하였음에도 불구하고 문자입력을 적정수준으로 수행할 수 있는 가능성을 가진 문자입력장치임을 확인할 수 있었다. 차후 프로토타입의 개선을 통하여 기기가 더욱 소형화될 수 있으며 문자입력수행도 또한 향상될 여지가 있다.

  • Smart phones provide variety of functions like world processing, chatting, web browsing, etc. for users. Therefore, efficiency of the keypad that are used in text entry are becoming more important. But, in traditional english mobile keypad, text entry speed is not efficient because simple placement of characters in accordance with the order of characters. In this paper, we propose the improved english keypad for smart phone using the frequency information of english characters and bigram. And, we verified that the proposed keypad is more efficient than other keypads through the experiment.

An Effective Hangul Modification System Using Jamo Modification Window (자모 수정 창을 활용한 효과적인 한글 수정 시스템)

  • There are many Hangul input systems to input Korean letter on computer or smart phone. However, the existing systems need to be required more efforts to modify the already inputted letters. This research suggests the Hangul letter modification method which can modify letter effectively based on reusing the alphabets previously inputted. The Hangul modification system using "Jamo Modification Window" follows the composition principle of Hangul, and utilize the already inputted alphabets. It can be applicable to the existing input system without any modification using only "Jamo Modification Window". Especially, this system is very useful on smart phone with small screen.
