  • Objectives: For testing asbestos stabilizer products which are used for the maintenance and management of asbestos-containing materials, durability assessment should accompany the evaluation of basic properties and performance. Therefore, in this study we designed a testing method and constructed a database of durability performance, thereby providing basic data for reliability studies of asbestos stabilizer. Methods: Since the ceiling materials targeted in this study are interior materials, test conditions of 95% relative humidity and 60℃ temperature were designed in consideration of the effect of high relative humidity in summer and seasonal indoor temperatures. Plate-shaped specimens treated with asbestos stabilizers were maintained in a thermo-hygrostat for 5, 10, and 20 days, and then the asbestos scattering prevention rate was measured by air erosion testing. Results: The scattering concentration tended to increase with time under the single humidity condition, and exceeded the indoor air quality standard of 0.01 f/cc, during the 20 days of maintenance. On the other hand, there was little change according to the temperature condition. In the case of a complex condition with temperature and humidity, the results were similar to the humidity test, but the scattering concentration increased more sharply at 20 days. Conclusions: The main deterioration factor that affects the durability of asbestos stabilizer is humidity, and the deterioration is caused by a mechanism in which the stabilizer coated on the surface is re-dissolved by moisture and evaporates or the coating layer is peeled off, which is accelerated by high temperatures.

  • Two different types of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) techniques were employed to investigate the tensile behavior of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). Two NDE methods, ultrasonic testing (UT) and infrared (IR) thermography, were used to assess defects and/or damage evolution before and during mechanical testing. Prior to tensile testing, a UTC-scan and a xenon flash method were performed to obtain initial defect information in light of UT C-scans and thermal diffusivity maps, respectively. An IR camera was used for in-situ monitoring of progressive damages. The IR camera measured temperature changes during tensile testing. This paper has presented the feasibility of using NDE techniques to interpret structural performance of CMCs.

  • The conventional testing as IEC-60587 is widely used in surface aging measurement of outside insulator those testing can carry out very short time in Lab testing. Also IEC-60587 testing is able to offer the standard judgement of relative degradation level of out side HV machine. Therefore it is very useful method compare to previous conventional tracking testing method and effective Lab testing method, But surface discharges(SD) have very complex characteristics of discharge pattern so it is required estimation research to development of precise analysis method. In recent, the study of IRR Camera is carrying out discover of temperature of power equipment through condition diagnosis and system development of degradation diagnosis.

  • An accelerated life testing(ALT) for aluminum electrolytic capacitors is conducted and analyzed. A testing equipment, which consists of part fixtures, relay board, controller, video bridge and microcomputer, is made for the ALT. Load factors are temperature with four levels and voltage with three levels. Base on 'optimized 4:2:1 plan', 2,000 electrolytic capacitors are allocated at 12 experimental conditions(; 4 levels of temperature ${\times}3$ levels of voltage), and the ALT is conducted. From the experimental results, an acceleration model is derived and acceleration factors are estimated. A discussion on the experimental results is included.

  • Purpose: This study has developed the accelerated lifetime test method for smps for outdoor lighting LED through two factors of temperature and humidity. Methods: Acceleration condition was confirmed for each stress and model, and acceleration life test model was estimated according to acceleration condition. Results: As a result of confirming the accelerated life test model, in the case of humidity, acceleration was established only in the foreign products. Therefore, it is confirmed that the acceleration condition is insufficient. However, the estimated parameters for temperature are relatively constant. It is therefore suitable for power supply acceleration tests for outdoor lighting LEDs. Conclusion: The SMPS acceleration test for outdoor lighting LED can improve the availability of the product by developing an accelerated life test method that guarantees the reliability of the product.

  • This study presents an approach to predict insulation resistance failure of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) using non-linear modeling. A capacitance aging model created by non-linear modeling allowed for the prediction of insulation resistance failure. The MLCC data tested under temperature-humidity-bias testing conditions showed that a change in capacitance, when measured against a capacitance aging model, was able to provide a prediction of insulation resistance failure.

  • The Korean Nuclear-Hydrogen Technology Development (NHTD) Plan will be performing irradiation testing of coated particle fuel at HANARO to support the development of VHTR in Korea. This testing will be carried out to demonstrate and qualify TRISO-coated particle fuel for use in VHTR. The testing will be irradiated in an inert gas atmosphere without on-line temperature monitoring and control combined with on-line fission product monitoring of the sweep gas. The irradiation device contains two test rods, one has nine fuel compacts and the other five compacts and eight graphite specimens. Each compact contains about 260 TRISO-coated particles. The irradiation device is being loaded and irradiated into the OR5 hole of the in HANARO core from August 2013. The device will be operated for about 150 effective full-power days at a peak temperature of about $1030^{\circ}C$ in BOC (Beginning of Cycle) during irradiation testing. After a peak burn-up of about 4 atomic percentage and a peak fast neutron fluence of about $1.7{\times}10^{21}\;n/cm^2$, PIE (Post-Irradiation Examination) of the irradiated coated particle fuel will be performed at IMEF (Irradiated Material Examination Facility). This paper reviews the design of test rod and irradiation device for coated particle fuel, and discusses the technical results for irradiation testing at HANARO.

  • The measurements of the moderator temperature coefficient (MTC) are performed to demonstrate that the calculational model produces results that are consistent with the measurements. Since negative MTC is also a technical specification value that may limit the cycle length, it is important to measure it as accurately as possible. In this report, preferred choice of test method depending on the time in cycle, best power indication and temperature definition in MTC calculation were determined based on the MTC test results taken during initial startup testing and at 2/3 cycle burnup in the Yonggwang nuclear power plant. The results show that the ratio and rodded methods provided good agreement with the predictions during initial startup testing. However, near end-of-cycle the depletion method gives better results, and so is suggested to be used in the MTC measurements at 2/3 cycle burnup. The use of primary Delta T power as a power indicator in the MTC calculations is highly advisable since it responds with good consistent results very quickly to changes unlike secondary calorimetric power. For the appropriate temperature definitions used in the MTC calculations, it is considered that the arithmetic average temperature measured simply by inlet and outlet thermocouples is preferred. Although volumetric average temperature provides better results, the improvement is not sufficient to compensate for the simplicity of calculations by arithmetic average temperature.

  • Cu thin films of $6000{\AA}$ thickness were deposited by Electron Beam Evaporation(EBE) method on the glass. The resistivity properties and adhesion of Cu thin films were investigated by various annealing and substrate temperature. Cu thin films were annealed in the air and vacuum condition for 10 min after the deposition. The resistivity and adhesion(the force required to separate films from substrates) was measured by 4-point probe and scratch testing. The resistivity of non-annealing Cu thin films was distinguished more substrate temperature loot than substrate temperature R.T, $200^{\circ}C$. In the case of air condition annealing, as heating temperature was increased, the resistivity was decreased. In the case of vacuum condition annealing, the resistivity was increased at heating temperature $200^{\circ}C$. The best resistivity($1.72\;{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$) of Cu thin films was obtained by the air condition heating temperature $200^{\circ}C$ at the substrate heating temperature $100^{\circ}C$. As a result of scratch testing, adhesion was increased by annealing. And maximum adhesion had 600 gf.
