Human body model electrostatic discharge tester using metal oxide semiconductor-controlled thyristors

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing for human body model tests is an essential part of the reliability evaluation of electronic/electrical devices and components. However, global environmental concerns have called for the need to replace the mercury-wetted relay switches, which have been used in ESD testers. Therefore, herein, we propose an ESD tester using metal oxide semiconductor-controlled thyristor (MCT) devices with a significantly higher rising rate of anode current (di/dt) characteristics. These MCTs, which have a breakdown voltage beyond 3000 V, were developed through an in-house foundry. As a replacement for the existing mercury relays, the proposed ESD tester with the developed MCT satisfies all the requirements stipulated in the JS-001 standard for conditions at or below 2000 V. Moreover, unlike traditional relays, the proposed ESD tester does not generate resonance; therefore, no additional circuitry is required for resonant removal. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed ESD tester is the first study to meet the JS-001 specification by applying a new switch instead of an existing mercury-wetted relay.

  • 메모리 제품의 사용 환경은 점차적으로 High Speed/High Density화됨에 따라 현 Comp. Test 환경으로 Field 환경을 모두 수용하기가 어려워지고 있다. 따라서, Component Level에서 다양한 실장 System을 이용한 Screen 방법이 요구 되고 있다. 다양한 환경에서 Test를 실시하기 위해서 필수 불가결한 조건은 온도(Temperature)를 자동으로 제어(Control)할 수 있는 기능이 필요하게 되었다. 이에, 현재 사용하고 있는 방법은 Chamber나 히터를 이용하고 있으나 온도 제어가 보다 용이하고 정밀한 기능이 요구됨에 따라 열전반도체(Thermoelectric semiconductor)원리를 이용한 온도 제어 장치 도입을 위한 연구가 진행되었다. 본 논문에서는 그 개발 현황 및 평가 결과를 근거로 신규 Component실장 Tester에 효율적으로 도입 적용 가능함을 제시 하고자 한다. 또한, 향후 기타 Tester 및 산업용 설비 등에 까지 확대적용 가능함으로써 전자부품(메모리)의 품질 향상 및 설비투자 Cost절감 효과가 기대 된다.

  • Vertical drain used improvement soft clay is made of not only decreasing construction time but also increasing the ground strength during some decades. As, it is applied to improvement soft clay with vertical drain, it is designed by the result that is caused by oedemeter test ignored anisotropic of the ground related to consolidation conditions. When we are expected consolidation conditions, the most important factors is soil of compaction and water permeability. Above all, anisotropic of the ground permeability show the results which differ between vertical and radial drainage. Recently, We study for radial consolidation coefficient and permeability coefficient that utilized Rowe Cell Consolidation and permeability tester but, it dont use well because of not only a supply lack also difficulty of test. The paper experimented with searching anisotropic of the ground so there are Rowe Cell test, standard consolidation tester and modified standard consolidation test that have pohang's soft clay ground. Therefore, we find anisotropic of the ground and a tester of easy use more than before. We made a comparison test result between the devised tester and Rowe Cell tester, Also, we learned average degree of consolidation for partial penetrating vertical drains. We were found relations as effective stress-void and effective stress-permeability coefficient through those tests.

  • Acoustic noise from a transformer, recently, has drawing more and more attentions. One of the main source of the noise is thought to be magnetostriction of the electrical steel sheets which compose transformer core. This paper deals with the magnetostriction of a highly grain-oriented electrical steel sheet measured by using a vector single sheet tester and a three-axial strain gauge. The results show that direction and axis ratio as well as the magnitude of the applied magnetic flux density contribute much to magnetostriction.

  • In this paper, I design the control chip that controls inner test sequence of Logic Tester to test chip. Logic tester has the thirteen inner instructions to control test sequence in test. And these instructions are saved in memory with test pattern data. Control chip generates address and control signal such as read, write signal of memory. Before testing, necessary data such as start address, end address, etc. are written to inner register of control chip. When test started, control chip receives the instruction in start address and executes, and generates address and control signals to access tester' inner memory. So whole test sequence is controlled by making the address and control signal in tester's inner memory. Control chip designs instruction's execution blocks, respectively. So if inner instruction is added from now on, a revision is easy. The control chip will be made using FPGA of Xilinx Co. in future.

  • A numerical analysis has been performed in this study to predict thermal behaviors of combined weapon systems in a large environmental tester. Also, temperature distributions of the materials of the system have been measured for the experimental conditions. The calculated thermal flow characteristics and the measured temperature distributions of the materials for the weapon systems have been analyzed to prepare for field tests in the environmental tester. The boundary conditions of the analysis are composed of inlet and outlet conditions of the environmental tester with various pressures and the limit of low temperature of -25$^{\circ}$C. The soaking time of the system in the environmental tester has been obtained by developed programs in this study to carry out the experiment in the predicted conditions.

  • Generated Axial Force (GAF) due to internal friction at Constant Velocity (CV) joints is one of the causes generating vibration problems such as shudder in vehicle. In this study, the GAF measuring tester is developed to precisely measure GAF caused by internal friction in CV joints. As the developed tester can control temperature at joint, driving torque, angle of rotation and joint angles, actual driving conditions such as sudden acceleration can be applied to the machine. GAFs are measured and compared by using different types of grease in tripod housing. Also GAFs are measured for both new and used CV joints to be compared and analyzed. The test result shows the repeatability and consistency of the tester in terms of the different test conditions. By using the developed CV joint tester, friction performance of the joint can be evaluated by proposing the best CV joints as well as greases generating the lowest GAF.

  • Applying design methodology, new type friction tester has been developed. Functional analysis has been executed and functional structure were constructed during the conceptual design. Optimal solution has been selected and a proto model has been manufactured according to the conceptual design. Using the proto model, experiments have been carried out and the test results were proved to be satisfied and reliable.

  • An experimental research was conducted in order to study the treatment of waste reuse system using the membrane. Cell tester which supplied by Amicon was used to compare the fluxes of various membranes. Specially investigated items in the experiment were carried out by using 5 species of microfiltration membranes as to various MLSS concentrations. From the results, it is recognized from the cell test that 0.2 $\mu $m pore-sized membrane have the most effective performance at 2000mg/L of MLSS, and physical properties of membranes such as strength, deflection, elongation, structure of pore are more important than chemical properties in microfiltration membrane.
