부동화 금속의 미세 전해 가공 시 전극 전위의 선정 (Determination of Electrode Potential in Micro Electrochemical Machining of Passive Metals)

  • In micro electrochemical machining (ECM), electrodes should be prevented from unfavorable oxide and Passive layer formation on the machined surface or overall corrosion of the entire surface. Generally, metal electrodes corrode, passivate or dissolve in the electrochemical cell according to the electrode potential. Therefore, each electrode must maintain its stable potential. Tn this paper, the stable electrode potentials of tool and workpiece were determined using the potentiodynamic polarization test and verified experimentally considering machining stability and surface quality. Stable workpiece electrode potentials of two different passive materials of 304 stainless steel and nickel were determined in the 0.1 M sulfuric acid. Experimental results show good machined surface and fast machining rate using the determined electrode potentials.

Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 비정질 박판 용접부의 파괴에 대한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the fracture of Nd:YAG laser welded amorphous foils)

  • In this paper, the possibilities of the laser overlap spot welding were studied to utilize the advantageous properties of amorphous metal foils. In order to estimate the usage of amorphous metals foils as structural members, the tensile shear strength and the fracture features were investigated. Although the crystalline zone on the surface was formed, it was not the direct cause of the fracture of the weld. The fracture of the weld resulted from the geometry discontinuity between the workpiece and the protrusion zone, which was formed during the weld process. The vein pattern - the typical feature of the fracture of the amorphous metal - was formed on the fracture surface. The tensile shear stress was reached to 1200 N/㎟ (2-foils overlap welding) and 900 N/㎟ (10-foils overlap welding), whereas the tensile strength of the workpiece was 1500-2000 N/㎟.

이미지프로세싱을 이용한 가공면의 표면거칠기 측정에 관한 연구 (A study on the cutting surface roughness measurement by image processing)

  • Many of non-contact measuring systems are used to estimate surface characteristics owing to their advantages of high speed and undanaged test. In this paper, a new measuring system is proposed to acquire image from CCD camera through back light illumination. Lowpass filter is very useful in view of noise removal and optimum binary image can be made through histogram equalization which is one of the histogram technique to maximize brightness intensity between workpiece and background. Laplacian operator is used to detect workpiece edge from binary image. In case of image treatment applying Laplacian operator, surface roughness is calculated by introducing conversion coefficient for coordinate of pixel which edge is composed of. In summary, the work is concerned with the development of a new technique for roughness measurement by the image processing in turning.

  • 본 연구에서는 버형성중의 파단을 파단전의 소성변형의 과정이 파단에 영향을 미치는 연성파단(ductile fracture)으로 간주하여 McClintock의 연성파단에 관한 모델 을 이용하여 버형성중의 파단변형도를 얻었다. 이 파단변형도가 인장시험으로부터 얻 은 파단변형도와 커다란 오차가 없음을 확인하여 편의상 인장시험에서의 파단변형도를 버형성중의 파단발생 판정기준으로 사용하였다. 버형성이 시작된 이후에 공구인선부 에서의 피삭재의 변위의 발달에 관한 모델이 제시되었고 파단변형도와 최대변형량과의 비교로부터 파단위치와 각도가 결정된다.

온간 단조에서 윤활 분사 방법에 따른 마찰 상수값의 평가 (Evaluation of Friction Shear Factor By the Lubricating Methods in Warm Forging)

  • Quantitative evaluation of the tribological conditions at the tool-workpiece interface in metal forming is usually accomplished by the ring compression test. This paper describes an experimental investigation into friction factor under warm forming conditions according to the lubricants and the lubricating methods using the ring compression test. Four different lubricants, two water based graphite and two oil based graphite lubricants, and three different lubricating methods were applied in the experiments. Calibration curves with the friction shear factor were obtained using FEM analysis and verified by the experimental results. The influence of lubricant and lubricating methods on friction are discussed. In the ring compression test, the lower friction factor got to spray the oil based lubricant on die and billet in warm forging temperature.

반구상의 나선형 볼바측정을 통한 수직형 머시닝 센터의 오차 해석 및 보정 (Error Analysis and Compensation for the Volumetric Errors of a Vertical Machining Center Using Hemispherical Helix Ball Bar Test)

  • Machining accuracy is affected by quasi-static errors of machining center. Since machine errors have a direct influence upon both the surface finish and geometric shape of the finished workpiece, it is very important to measure the machine errors and to compensate these errors. The laser measurement method for identifying geometric errors of machine tool has the disadvantages such as high cost, long calibration time and usage of volumetric error synthesis model. Accordingly, this paper deals with analysis of the geometric errors of a machine tool using ball bar test without using complicated error synthesis model. Statistical analysis method was adopted in this paper for deriving geometric errors using hemispherical helix ball bar test. As a result of experiment, geometric errors of the vertical machining center are compensated by 88%.

  • Warm, forming technique which is one of the new forming technologies to improve formability of sheet metal is applied to the cylindrical cup drawing of stainless-aluminum. clad sheets. In experiments the temperature of die and blank holder is varied from room temperature to 18$0^{\circ}C$, while the punch is cooled by circulation of coolant to increase the fracture strength of workpiece on the punch corner area. Test materials chosen for experiments are STS304-A1050-STS304, STS304-A1050-STS430 clad sheets and A1050-0 aluminum sheet. Teflon film as a lubricant is used on both sides of a workpiece. The limit drawing ratio as well as quality of drawn cups(distribution of thickness and hardness)are investigated and validity of warm drawing process is also discussed.

Six different materials and five different lubricants were applied in the experiments. calibration curves with the friction coefficient were obtained using FEM analysis and verified by the verified by the experimental results. The influence of materials and lubricants level on friction are discussed. In the ring compression test the shear friction factor has a different from steels and aluminum water base graphite lubricants on cold working conditions and hot working conditions.

  • Due to rapid growth of die and mould industries, it is urgently required to maximize the productivity and the efficiency of machining. In recent years, owing to the development of new kinds of material, die and mould materials are much harder and it is more difficult to cut. In this study, the workpiece SKD11(HRC45) is cut with TiAlN coated tungsten-carbide cutting tools. To find the general characteristics of difficult-to-cut materials, orthogonal turning test is performed. Orthogonal cutting theory can be expanded to oblique cutting model. The oblique cutting process in the small cutting edge element has been analyzed as orthogonal cutting process in the plane containing the cutting velocity vector and chip-flow vector. Hence, with the orthogonal cutting data obtained from orthogonal turning test, the cutting forces can be analyzed through oblique cutting model. The simulation results have shown a fairy good agreement with the test results.

베어링강의 고온변형 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hot Deformation Behavior of Bearing Steels)

  • In this paper, the stress-strain curves of bearing steels at hot working conditions are obtained by hot compression test with a computer controlled servo-hydraulic Gleeble 3800 testing machine and elongations and reductions of area of the bearing steels are also obtained by hot tensile test with a Gleeble 1500 testing machine. Experiments are conducted under the various strain-rates and temperatures and their results are used to obtain the flow stress information. A rigid thermo-viscoplastic finite element method is applied to the multi-stage hot forging process in order to predict temperature distribution of workpiece. The experimental results and the analysis results are used to obtain an optimal hot forging condition.
