핵연료집합체 기계적특성 시험시설 구축과 기능시험 (Construction and Functional Tests of Fuel Assembly Mechanical Characterization Test Facility)

  • Fuel assembly's mechanical characterization test facility (FAMeCT) in KAERI was constructed with upgraded functional features such as increased loading capacity, underwater vibration testing and severe earthquake simulation for extended fuel design guideline. This facility is designed and developed to provide out-pile fuel data for accident analysis model and fuel licensing. Functional tests of FAMeCT were performed to confirm functionality, structural integrity, and validity of newly-built fuel assembly mechanical test facility. Test program includes signal check of data acquisition system, load delivering capacity using real-sized fuel assemblies and a standard loading cylindrical rigid specimen. Fuel assembly's lateral bending test was carried out up to 30 mm of pull-out displacement. Limit case axial compression loading test up to 33 kN was performed to check structural integrity of UCPS (Upper Core Plate Simulator) support frame. Test results show that all test equipment and measurement system have acceptable range of alignment, signal to noise ratio, load carrying capacity limit without loss of integrity. This paper introduces newly constructed fuel assembly's mechanical test facility and summarizes results of functional test for the mechanical test equipment and data acquisition system.

  • This article is focusing on the improvement of weapon system test & evaluation, aimed at the weapon system in the research development stage. This article suggests improvement directions in three aspects(organization and system, skilled manpower and technology, test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation) as follows. 1) Weapon system test & evaluation organization and system a. Establishment of comprehensive test & evaluation system b. Making regulation for comprehensive test infrastructure management. c. Standardization of test & evaluation process, which can be used in special subject to army, navy and air force. 2) Skilled manpower and technology of weapon system test & evaluation a. Training & education, management of test & evaluation experts. b. Establishment of skill management system of test & evaluation. 3) Test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation a. Establishment of comprehensive improvement direction of test & evaluation installation and equipment. b. Consideration of counter measures to prevent overlapping investment, and to use the test & evaluation resources efficiently. c. Establishment of organic network for the effective use of test & evaluation installation and equipment. d. Establishment of detailed cooperation plan for the commonage of test & evaluation facility and equipment.

  • KARI is achieving the KSLV program according to National Space Technology Development Program. In this paper, the authors are intended to introduce the Integrated Power Plant (abb. IPP) test facility which will be constructed for the variety of tests on KSLV program. IPP test facility refers to comprehensive testing equipment for liquid rocket launch vehicle. Using this facility, KARl can verify the adaptiveness of parts and subsystems for launch vehicle and finally can qualify the system characteristics of launch vehicle doing kinds of test including hot firing test. Using this facility, KARI can simulate the vehicle launching circumstances and it make to predict the performance of launch vehicle when its flight test.

  • 항공우주연구원에서는 KSLV용 추진기관 종합시험설비를 구축, 운영함으로써 발사체 추진기관의 각 구성품의 조립성 및 시스템 적합성을 검증하고, 연소시험을 포함한 각종 시험을 통해 구성품의 성능 확인 및 추진기관 시스템에 대한 종합적 인증(Qualification)을 하고자 한다. 아울러 발사 환경을 모사할 수 있어, 추진기관 구성품 및 시스템의 최종 환경시험이 가능할 뿐 아니라 발사시 추진기관의 성능을 예측할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 상기 목적을 위해 구축되는 추진기관 종합시험 설비(Integrated Power Plant Test Facility)의 개념설계(Conceptual Design Analysis)과정을 통해 도출된 설계 개념을 정리하여 기술하고자 한다.

  • This paper was conducted to study the conditions for the manufacture and operation of artificial snow removal and ice-making test facilities so that the test equipment can be tested in a low-temperature environment using the polar environment performance test facility. The polar environment performance test Facility is designed to artificially simulate extreme environments up to -65 ℃, and is a mid-to-large low-temperature environment test facility that can perform performance tests on offshore plant equipment, ships, leisure, and offshore structures. To verify the safety of deck work of ships operating in polar environments, artificial snow removal and artificial ice making devices were manufactured, and we conducted research on various operating environments using these facilities. For the efficient operation of artificial snow and ice making facilities, it is important to continuously supply dry air, and it has been found that installing an additional heater at the tip of the nozzle is effective in preventing freezing.

  • 선박 ICT융합 장비를 개발하여 선박에 탑재하기 위해서는 형식승인이 필수적으로 이루어져야 하며, 이를 위해서는 환경시험과 기능시험이 요구된다. 환경시험은 대상 장비가 선박 및 해상환경에서 동작하기 위해 요구되는 내구성을 만족하는지 시험하는 것을 의미하며, 기능시험은 대상 장비가 국제표준을 준수하여 고유 기능을 정확하게 수행하는지 시험하는 것을 의미한다. 국내 선박 ICT융합 장비에 대한 환경시험 가능 기관은 227여 곳에 달하는 반면, 기능시험 가능 기관은 전무한 실정이다. 이러한 이유로 현재 선박 ICT융합 장비 기능시험 시설을 구축 중에 있으며, 본 논문에서는 우선적으로 추진 중인 선박 디지털 인터페이스 및 항해통신장비의 기능시험 체계의 개발에 관한 내용을 다룬다. 주요 내용은 대상 장비의 기능시험을 단일 테스트 및 통합 테스트의 두 단계로 수행함으로써 시험 결과의 신뢰성을 향상시키는 것으로, 단일 테스트는 대상 장비의 고유 기능이 정상적으로 동작하는지를 확인하는 것이고, 통합 테스트는 정상적으로 다른 항해통신장비와 조화롭게 동작하는지를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 단일 테스트에 요구되는 부가 연동 장비 등의 필수 기능 요소와 통합 테스트에 요구되는 연계 및 확장 요소를 분석한다.

Reliability Design Based on System Performance-Cost Trade-off for Manufacturing facility

  • The objective of this paper is to provide a model for effective implementation of costing RAM management in the design and procurement of production facility considering the system cost-performance trade-off. This research proposes a two-step approach of costing RAM design and test of system RAM for production facility. In Step 1, a static model is proposed to find an initial system configuration to meet the required performance based on system RAM and LCC and analyzes the trade-off relationships between various factors of RAM and LCC. In the second Step, we developed time and failure truncated models for system reliability test and analysis. For the computational purpose, we developed computer programs and have shown the sample results. By the sample test run, the proposed model has shown the possibilities to provide a good method to analyze system performance evaluation for both design and operational phase, This model can be applied to a wide variety of systems not only for costing RAM of the production facilities but also for the other kinds of equipment.

HOT CELL RENOVATION IN THE SPENT FUEL CONDITIONING PROCESS FACILITY AT THE KOREA ATOMIC ENERGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

  • Background: The advanced spent fuel conditioning process facility (ACPF) of the irradiated materials examination facility (IMEF) at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has been renovated to implement a lab scale electrolytic reduction process for pyroprocessing. The interior and exterior structures of the ACPF hot cell have been modified under the current renovation project for the experimentation of the electrolytic reduction process using spent nuclear fuel. The most important aspect of this renovation was the installation of the argon compartment within the hot cell. Method: For the design and system implementation of the argon compartment system, a full-scale mock-up test and a three-dimensional (3D) simulation test were conducted in advance. The remodeling and repairing of the process cell (M8a), the maintenance cell (M8b), the isolation room, and their utilities were also planned through this simulation to accommodate the designed argon compartment system. Results and conclusion: Based on the considered refurbishment workflow, previous equipment in the M8 cell, including vessels and pipes, were removed and disposed of successfully after a zoning smear survey and decontamination, and new equipment with advanced functions and specifications were installed in the hot cell. Finally, the operating area and isolation room were also refurbished to meet the requirements of the improved hot cell facility.

고공시험설비에서 로켓엔진의 지상시험 플룸 거동 해석 (An Analysis on Plume Behaviour of Rocket Engine with Ground Condition at High Altitude Engine Test Facility)

  • 고공엔진시험설비에서 지상 시험 조건의 시험 가능 여부와 설비 안전 문제를 점검하고자 로켓 엔진 유동을 해석하였다. 진공 챔버를 개방한 상태에서 냉각수를 초음속 디퓨저로 분사하면서 엔진이 작동하는 상황이며, 2차원 축대칭과 플룸, 공기, 냉각수의 3원 혼합물로 가정하였다. 해석 결과 냉각수 유량 200 kg/sec까지 지상 조건 시험이 가능하였다. 그러나 시동 초기 플룸의 역류로 인해 진공 챔버가 고온에 노출되고, 동시에 냉각수 역류로 인해 진공 챔버 내부가 오염되었다. 따라서 충분한 단열 대책과 오염 회피를 위한 작업이 선행되어야 한다.

드론용 동축 프로펠러 시험장치 개발 및 제자리비행 성능특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (Development of Coaxial Propeller Test Facility and Experimental Study on Hover Performance Characteristics for Drone)

  • 본 논문에서는 저 레이놀즈 동축 프로펠러의 제자리 비행 특성연구를 위한 시험장치 개발과정과 실험결과를 기술하였다. 상/하부 프로펠러간의 간격 변화에 따른 제자리 비행 성능측정이 가능하도록 시험장치를 설계하였다. 그리고 상/하부 프로펠러 각각의 추력, 토크, 회전수, 진동, 전류량을 측정할 수 있도록 장치를 구성하였다. 센서의 신호 수집을 위하여 자료획득시스템을 구축하고 LabVIEW 기반의 소프트웨어에서 모터의 제어와 신호 수집을 하였다. 단일 프로펠러의 지상회전 실험을 통한 성능 특성 데이터를 확보한 후, 동축 프로펠러 사이의 간격과 상/하부 직경의 차이에 따른 성능 특성과 효율향상을 위한 실험을 진행하였다. 성능 실험분석 결과 동축 프로펠러 사이 간격이 로터 직경의 20~30%일 때 효율이 높은 것으로 확인되었으며, 그 이상일 경우는 큰 차이가 없었다. 상부 프로펠러의 직경이 하부 프로펠러의 직경보다 작을 경우가 다른 직경 조합에 비해 가장 높은 효율을 보였다.
