  • Every 3000 hour an aircraft is stricken by a lightning. Also the lightning damage to the aircraft during flight are continually occurred due to extreme weather phenomena such as global warming. Under the airworthiness standards, the aircraft must be designed to protect lightning. To show compliance for lightning, the test should be conducted by the actual lightning current and voltage waveform for the actual aircraft or parts. After test, structure damage is detected via visual inspection or NDI. Structure substantiation for damage is to show retaining limit or near limit load capability. This is conducted by test or analysis based on test. Thus, the aircraft should retain structural strength to land safely, even though the damage of aircraft fuselage from Lightning strike are occurred.

  • In this paper the active vibration control system using a linear oscillatory actuator(LOA) is studied to suppress structural vibration. In the LOA, the AC-power-energized armature generates a shift field in an air gap, which produces a oscillating force to the mover in the magnetic field generated by high density permanent magnets. LOA has relatively simple structure with almost maintenance free, compared with a hydraulic actuator. Performance test of the active vibration control system using a LOA is carried out on a steel test structure under base excitation. From this test, it is confirmed that the acceleration level of the test structure is drastically reduced near the resonant region.

  • Occupant injuries are always possible in a rollover accident, one of the major accidents in a bus. Thus the structure of body frame should have sufficient strength to protect passengers under accidental loads,. ECE(Economic Commission for Europe) regulation No.66 prescribes that residual space shall be preserved in the passenger compartment during and after the structure has been subjected to the prescribed rollover test. Rollover test on a bus section was completed according to the regulation. The coordinates of body section before and after rollover were measured, and it was checked that the structure still complied with the requirements of residual space. Direct measurement on a bus is difficult because of its large size. Thus photogrammetry by photographing and 3 dimensional digital modeling was introduced, and the coordinates of each point were measured through this method.

  • Design considerations of I2L are discussed with particular emphasis on the upward current gain of the npn transistor, 6J Several test structures have been fabricated to measure the DC and AC characteristics of the I2L basic cell and the base current components of the npn transistor. A T flip-flop has also been designed and fabricated using the I2L technology. The upward current gain of 10 the speed -power product of the 2.6pJ/gate and the minimum propagation delay time of 36 nsec have been obtained from the test structure. The maxmum toggle frequency of the T flip -flop has been measured to be 3.5 MHz.

  • This paper is research results of investigating the elastic settlement behavior of the coastal caisson structure built on the sandy deposit by comparing results of centrifuge model experiments and those of existing methods of estimating elastic settlement. Basic soil property tests such as specific gravity test, grain size distribution test and organic content test with disturbed soil sampled from the site were carried out. The centrifuge experiment of model satisfying the required design criteria was performed under 50 of artificial accelerated gravitational force condition. The Centrifuge model experimental results were compared and analyzed with the current methods of estimating settlement based on the elastic modulus obtained from the results of odeometer tests and empirical methods from literature reviews.

  • The seismic excitation test results of an isolated test structure for artificial time history excitation are summarized for structural modeling of the isolated structure and isolation bearing. Based on the actual dynamic behaviors and the seismic responses of the test model, linear and bilinear models for isolators are suggested. Seismic analyses are performed and compared with those of the seismic tests. The developed bilinear model is well applicable only to large shear strain area of isolators.

  • In this paper active vibration control system using a linear oscillatory actuator (LOA) is studied to suppress structural vibration. Being compared with a hydraulic actuator, a LOA has simplified structure and requires a few elements, so it has lots of merits with respect to economics and maintenance. Performance test of active vibration control system using LOA is carried out on a steel test structure under base excitation. From this test it is confirmed that acceleration level of test structure is reduced near the resonance region. In the future research on the application to large to structures will be studied.

  • The Korea's automobile safety standards consist of standards for automobiles, automated vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles and auto parts, and there are 157 articles. In connection with the safety standards, the implementation rules stipulated for detailed test methods and procedures are composed of the main body, asterisks and annexes, and have a rather complicated structure. In addition, the test items in the asterisk are specified with the same or similar name as the test items in other asterisks. In this study, the structure of these implementation rules is simplified and the same test items are integrated. This is expected to increase the user's understanding of laws and regulations and efficiency.

  • In this paper, a covariate adjusted logrank test is considered for censored paired data under the Cox proportional hazard model. The proposed score test resembles the adjusted logrank test of Tsiatis, Rosner and Tritchler (1985), which is derived from the partial likelihood. The dependence structure for paired data is accommodated into the test statistic by using' sum of square type' variance estimators. Several weight functions are also considered, which produce a class of covariate adjusted weighted logrank tests. Asymptotic normality of the proposed test is established and simulation studies with moderate sample size show the proposed test works well, particularly when there are dependence structure between treatment and covariates.
