  • Purpose: This study conducted quantitative sensory test and nociceptive flexion reflex(NFR) measurement to examine degree of pain depending on polarity of high voltage pulsed current(HVPC) of hyperalgesia site in hyperalgesia rat by local thermal injury. mechanical pain threshold, thermal pain threshold and root mean square of NFR were measured. Methods: This study was conducted with control group I of hyperalgesia rat at hind paw by thermal injury and experimental groups divided into cathodal HVPC group II, anodal HVPC group III and alternate HVPC group IV. It measured pain threshold and root mean square(RMS) of NFR and obtained the following results. Results: Mechanical pain threshold of hyperalgeisa site was significantly increased at groups II, III and IV applying HVPC group compared to control group, but there was no difference among HVPC groups. Thermal pain threshold of hyperalgesia site showed a significant increase in group II. Group III showed significant difference after 4 days of hyperalgesia. RMS of NFR at hyperalgeisa site was significantly reduced in group II after 2 days of hyperalgesia. Group III showed significant decrease after 5 and 6 days of hyperalgesia. Conclusion: Consequently it was found that application of HVPC of hyperalgesia site increased pain threshold at hyperalgesia site by mechanical stimuli and thermal stimuli. NFR by electrical stimuli was similar to pain threshold by mechanical stimuli. Effects by polarity of HVPC showed the greatest reduction of hyperalgesia when cathodal electrode was used.

  • In this study, some considerations have been suggested in developing on-site techniques to evaluate the sensitization of stainless steels. Electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (EPR) technique is known to be a candidate tool for field applications since it enables quantitative assessment in reasonable test time, compared to oxalic etching (ditch) technique. The on-site application of the test method imposes additional restrictions on the selection of the test method (for example, minimum surface preparation requirement, insensitivity to testing temperature, etc.). The EPR and etching techniques have been compared in order to sensitization of stainless steel structures. It has been widely reported that the maximum sensitivity in the welded structure of stainless steel is shown at heat-affected zone (HAZ) than weldments with cast structure. In this work, sectioned weldments and external surfaces were investigated to reveal the degree of sensitization by the etching and the results were compared with those of EPR test. The EPR test showed little sensitivity to surface roughness and test temperature.

  • Slab formwork consists of sheathing, stringer, hanger and shore. There are several types of adjustable individual shores. In constructions site, pipe supports are usually used as shores. The strength of a pipe support is decreasing as it is frequently being used at the construction site. In this study, 2857 pipe supports were bought to fine out the strength change of used pipe support and unused pipe supports according to aging. Among these pipe supports, 2337 pipe supports were lent to the construction companies free of charge. Compressive strength was measured by knife edge test and plate test at each 3 month. Test results show that the strength of unused pipe supports almost equaled to the strength of new pipe supports until 191 days, but the strength of used pipe supports at 191 days was lower than the strength of new pipe supports. So, the strength of used pipe supports at 191 days was not satisfied the specification of KS F 8001. According to these results, it shows that attention has to be paid to formwork design using used pipe supports. Therefore, the paresent study results will be able to provide a firm base to design slab formwork and test the performance of used temporary structure and prevent formwork collapses.

  • Scaffolding works are demolished after this structure is completed, and safety accidents often occur because they are installed differently from legal standards or frequently change during work. Therefore, in order to strengthen the safety of scaffolding, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport required a need for design standards for temporary facilities that can systematically prevent and solve large-scale safety accidents that are repeatedly increasing during temporary construction. It has been enacted, and some contents have been revised for the past three years. However, construction site personnel do not know or know the revised matters, but often install scaffolding by the installer's experience rather than complying with relevant laws and regulations. It is the situation that the ground strength test of the foundation ground for the load applied to the floor of the column is omitted in most sites. Therefore, this study grasped the actual situation on the degree of recognition of the revised laws and regulations of the construction site and the foundation-based treatment of the floor working load of the scaffolding column, and derived problems. In addition, we intend to provide reference materials for the endurance test according to the ground conditions to small-scale small sites where it is difficult to conduct the test by carrying out the endurance test of the scaffolding ground according to the revised standards.

  • LTV(Light Tactical Vehicle) operating in our military requires higher levels of performance and durability to withstand harsher conditions than general vehicles, as they must travel on both rough-train and off-road as well as on public roads. Recently, LTV development is demanded a variety of test evaluations in order to satisfy ROC (Required Operational Capability) by the military requirement. However, there is no informations of driving test course for satisfying the durability performance of Korean tactical vehicle. Therefore, this study aims to provide basic data to establish reliable drive test conditions by analyzing the main maneuvering test site at the domestic and foreign country in order to select the representative drive course. These studies will provide a more scientific and systematic evaluation solution for the development of tactical vehicles, and can be effectively used to establish a certified system for military vehicle test evaluation in the future

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the potential toxicity of a recently developed and clinically used No-Pain pharmacopuncture (NPP) solution. We also assessed the lethal dose of the NPP agent following a single intramuscular injection in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods: Animals were divided into two groups: the NPP test material group and the normal saline control group. A single intramuscular injection of the NPP agent (1.0 mL/animal) was administered to rats of the NPP test material group. The control group rats received the same volume of normal saline. Both female and male rats were included in each group. All rats were monitored for clinical signs and body weight changes for 14 days after administration of the test substance or saline. At the end of the observation period, a gross necropsy was conducted and localized tolerance at the injection site was analyzed. Results: No mortality was observed in the NPP test material and control groups. Moreover, no test substance-related effects were observed on clinical signs, body weight, necropsy findings, and localized tolerance at the injection site. Conclusion: The approximate lethal dose of the NPP agent is greater than 1.0 mL/animal under the conditions used in this study. Additional toxicity evaluations and clinical studies are needed to confirm the safety of NPP use in clinical practice.

  • In the companion papers (I, II), site-specific response analyses were performed at more than 300 domestic sites and a new site classification system and design response spectra (DRS) were proposed using the results of the site-specific response analyses. In this paper, the proposed site classification system and the design response spectra are compared with those in other seismic codes and verified by different methods. Firstly, the design response spectra are compared with the design response spectra in Eurocode 8, KBC 2016 and MOCT 1997 to estimate quantitative differences and general trends. Secondly, site-specific response analyses are carried out using $V_S$-profiles obtained using field seismic tests and the results are compared with the proposed DRS in order to reduce the uncertainty in using the SPT-N value in site-specific response analyses in the companion paper (I). In addition, site coefficients from real earthquake records measured in Korean peninsula are used to compare with the proposed site coefficients. Finally, dynamic centrifuge tests are also performed to simulate the representative Korean site conditions, such as shallow depth to bedrock and short-period amplification characteristics. The overall results showed that the proposed site classification system and design response spectra reasonably represented the site amplification characteristic of shallow bedrock condition in Korea.

  • This study aimed to develop accurate status site index curves for C. japonica in Gyeongsang-do that reflect the regional characteristics. The development of high-growth models in Chapman-Richards, Schumacher, and Gompertz for 552 C. japonica growing in Gyeongsang-do. The Gompertz growth function is the most suitable for developing site index curves. The comparative test was analyzed using the F test at a significance level of 5% and the graph. As a result, compared with the national site index curves and site index curves under base age in Jeolla-do, the p-value was 0.05 or higher, and there was no statistically significant difference. The p-value was 0.05 or lower compared with site index curves over stand age in Jeolla-do, indicating a statistically significant difference. Therefore, it was determined that site index curves for C. japonica in Gyeongsang-do can be applied to the national site index curves and site index curves under base age in Jeolla-do, but not to site index curves over base age in Jeolla-do. Hence, based on the results of the study, it is possible to provide basic data on the forest management system for C. japonica in Gyeongsang-do and systematic and reasonable management through high field application reflecting regional characteristics.
