  • The objective of this paper is to compare the site-to-site variability of ISO 10844 pass by the noise test sites. In order to investigate the site-to-site variance of test surfaces, European commercial tires are tested at seven different test sites. Three Korea test sites and four Europe test sites are selected. The pass by noise test is done according to a 2001/43/EC regulation. Although the ISO surface has a very specific track composition, it does not reduce the variation of pass by noise measurements over the surface of test sites. This paper shows that the test results of pass by noise level are different depending on the test sites. The correlation obtained in this work is able to predict the pass by noise level for certain test site using the data measured from another test site. The prediction value is range with an error within 1dB(A).

  • A wind turbine power performance test is very important to wind turbine manufacturers because a wind farm developer or planner must want to define power performance characteristics and reliability of new wind turbines. Based on the IEC 61400-12-1, A wind turbine test site has to be nicely installed at flat terrain for testing. We are developing the wind power system which is IEC wind class IIa model with rated power of 3MW. KEPCO's Gochang power testing center was considered as candidates to build the test site without site calibration. This paper aims to verify the validity of the test site by using implement site assessment result that was based on IEC 61400-12-1.

  • In situ experimental studies were Performed at Yongjong Island Geotechnical Experimental Site to evaluate the ground densification on sand deposited. Standard penetration test, cone penetration test, and SASW test were performed and soil profiles and quality of ground improvements were evaluated. The feasibility of applying SASW method were verified by comparing test results. The evaluation technique of in-situ density using SASW and resonant column tests was proposed, and the reliability of proposed method was verified by performing case studies.

  • One of the most difficult and important problems associated with radiated electromagnetic emissions from digital devices are the determination of antenna factor and site acceptability of an open area test site. This paper presents the problems of the open area test site and EMC antennas far measuring electromagnetic interferences radiated from the equipements. It seems desirable that the antenna factor of EMC antennas be revised to the antenna factor with zero reflection presented in this paper for accurate measurements.

  • Two methods, the bin averaging method and least square method, are often used in calibrating wind turbine test sites. The objective of this work was to determine a better method to predict the wind speed at wind turbine installing point. The calibration was done at the test site on a complex terrain located in Daegwallyeong, Korea. It was performed for two different cases based on the IEC 61400-12 power performance measurement standard. The wind speeds averaged for 10 minutes ranged between 4 m/s and 16 m/s. The wind-direction bins of each meteorological mast were 10 degrees apart, and only the bins having data measured for more than 24 hours were employed for the test site calibration. For both cases, the two methods were found to yield almost same results which estimated real wind speed very closely.

  • In this study, on-site performance test of an air source heat pump which has a rated capacity of 10 RT is carried out. Since indoor and outdoor air conditions can not be controlled to satisfy the standard test conditions, experiments are done with the inlet air conditions as they exist. To estimate the performance of the heat pump for other conditions, the heat pump is modeled with a small number of characteristic parameters. The values of the parameters are determined from the few measurements measured on-site during steady operation. A simulation program is developed to calculate cooling capacity and power consumption at any other arbitrary operating conditions. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experiment. This study provides a method of an on-site performance diagnosis of an air source heat pump.

  • The performance of a fully anechoic chamber (FAC) for radiated emission (RE) measurements has been evaluated using the normalized site attenuation (NSA). To do this, the antenna factor (AF) of a set consisting of nearly identical antennas has been calibrated at an open area test site (OATS). Appropriate correlation factor (CF) between the chamber and the OATS has been calculated. Results show that the performance of the chamber is fairly good with respect to the ANSI-limit except 41~66 MHz far vertical polarization and near 900 MHz for horizontal polarization.

  • In this study, the evaluation for utilization of waste landfill was performed by field test to use waste landfill as construction site(Nangido in Seoul). The site where dynamic compaction test was carried out was divided by 4 yards. Yard 1, 2 were not eliminated widening of cover soil and Yard 3, 4 were eliminated it. Dynamic Compaction Pilot Test was carried out by the 15ton heavy tamper with drop height of 20m in Yard 1, 3 and with drop height of 15m in Yard 2, 4 We evaluated the compaction ability, optimum compaction number and noiseㆍvibration through field test, monitoring. To make use of waste landfill as a construction site, The dynamic compaction method is suitable for using in waste landfill as a construction site among the ground improvement methods.
