  • Software testing is an activity to find defects included in software through creating test cases from the software system specification. In order to perform software testing effectively, it is required to prepare the full test plan, to create well-defined test cases, and to execute test monitoring activities systematically. Most existing researches for the test approaches focus on automating the activities from the test cases generation to the test execution. Contrary to those approaches, we study automatic approaches for test monitoring activities. For this, we identify the research issues that should be solved to automate test monitoring activities. Next, with those solutions, we suggest the construction method for an automatic framework for test monitoring.

  • In this study, the Bayesian probabilistic framework is investigated for modal identification and modal identifiability based on the field measurements provided in the structural health monitoring benchmark problem of an instrumented cable-stayed bridge named Ting Kau Bridge (TKB). The comprehensive structural health monitoring system on the cable-stayed TKB has been operated for more than ten years and it is recognized as one of the best test-beds with readily available field measurements. The benchmark problem of the cable-stayed bridge is established to stimulate investigations on modal identifiability and the present paper addresses this benchmark problem from the Bayesian prospective. In contrast to deterministic approaches, an appealing feature of the Bayesian approach is that not only the optimal values of the modal parameters can be obtained but also the associated estimation uncertainty can be quantified in the form of probability distribution. The uncertainty quantification provides necessary information to evaluate the reliability of parametric identification results as well as modal identifiability. Herein, the Bayesian spectral density approach is conducted for output-only modal identification and the Bayesian model class selection approach is used to evaluate the significance of different modes in modal identification. Detailed analysis on the modal identification and modal identifiability based on the measurements of the bridge will be presented. Moreover, the advantages and potentials of Bayesian probabilistic framework on structural health monitoring will be discussed.

  • Recently, due to many industrial accidents at construction sites, a variety of researches for structural health monitoring (SHM) of buildings are progressing. For real site application of SHM, one of the advanced technologies has blown as wireless sensor networks (WSN). In this paper, we proposed WIVA(WSN Monitoring framework based on 3D Visualization and Augmented Reality in Mobile Devices) system that applies 3D visualization and AR technology to mobile devices with camera based on WSN in order to expand the extent of information can observe. Moreover, we performed experiments to validate effectiveness in 3D and AR mode that utilize WSN data based on IEEE 802.15.4. In real implementation scenario, we demonstrated a fire occurrence test in 3-story building miniature.

  • We propose Sequential Patient Recruitment Monitoring (SPRM), a new monitoring procedure for patient recruitment in a clinical trial. Based on the sequential probability ratio test using improved stopping boundaries by Woodroofe, the method allows for continuous monitoring of the rate of enrollment. It gives an early warning when the recruitment is unlikely to achieve the target enrollment. The packet data approach combined with the Central Limit Theorem makes the method robust to the distribution of the recruitment entry pattern. A straightforward application of the counting process framework can be used to estimate the probability to achieve the target enrollment under the assumption that the current trend continues. The required extension of the recruitment period can also be derived for a given confidence level. SPRM is a new, continuous patient recruitment monitoring tool that provides an opportunity for corrective action in a timely manner. It is suitable for the modern, centralized data management environment and requires minimal effort to maintain. We illustrate this method using real data from two well-known, multicenter, phase III clinical trials.

  • Statistical trend analysis using the data from the National Groundwater Quality Monitoring Network (NGQMN) of Korea was conducted to establish a new groundwater quality management framework. Sen’s test, a non-parametric statistical method for trend analysis, was used to determine the linear trend of the groundwater quality data. The analysis was conducted at different confidence levels (i.e., at 70, 80, 90, 95, and 99% confidence levels) for three of groundwater quality parameters, i.e., nitrate-nitrogen, chloride, and pH, which have sufficient time series of the NGQMN data between 2007 and 2013. The results showed that different trends can be determined for different depths even for the same monitoring site and the numbers of wells having significant trends vary with different confidence levels. The wells with increasing or decreasing trends were far less than the wells with no trend. Chloride had more wells with increasing trend than other parameters. On the other hand, nitrate-nitrogen had the most wells with increasing trend and concentration exceeding 75% of the threshold values (TVs). Based on the methodology used for this study, we suggest including groundwater TVs and trend analysis to evaluate groundwater quality and to establish an advanced groundwater quality management framework.

  • Electrical safety monitoring System (ESMS) is a critical component in modern power systems, which is characterized by large-scale access points, massive users and versatile requirements. For convenience of the information integration and analysis, the software development, maintenance, and application in the system, the cloud platform based ESMS is established and assessed in this paper. Firstly the framework of the system is proposed, and then the assessment scheme with a set of evaluation indices are presented, by which the appropriate cloud product can be chosen to meet the requirements of a specific application. Moreover, to calculate the weights of the evaluation indices under uncertainty, an improved interval AHP method is adopted to take into consideration of the fuzziness of expert scoring, the qualitative consistency test, and the two normalizations in the process of eigenvectors. Case studies have been made to verify the feasibility of the assessment approach for ESMS.

  • This paper summarizes the experimental vibration-based structural health monitoring study on a historical monument in Jordan. In this work, and within the framework of the European Commission funded project "wide-Range Non-Intrusive Devices Toward Conservation of Historical Monuments in the Mediterranean Area", a seven and a half century old minaret located in Ajloun (73 km north of the capital Amman) is studied. Because of their cultural value, touristic importance and the desire to preserve them for the future, only non-destructive tests were allowed for the experimental investigation of such heritage structures. Therefore, after dimensional measurements and determination of the current state of damage in the selected monument, ambient vibration tests are conducted to measure the accelerations at strategic locations of the system. Output-only modal identification technique is applied to extract the modal parameters such as natural frequencies and mode shapes. A Non-linear version of SAP 2000 computer program is used to develop a three-dimensional finite element model of the minaret. The developed numerical model is then updated according to the modal parameters obtained experimentally by the ambient-vibration test-results and the measured characteristics of old stone and deteriorated mortar. Moreover, a parametric identification method using the N4Sid state space model is employed to model the dynamic behavior of the minaret and to build up a robust, immune and noise tolerant model.

  • Capacity of modem storage devices is becoming larger than yesterday and integration of disk is increasing. It refers that physical errors can damage a lot of digital information on storage devices. So we propose file system test framework in this paper to test integrity and robustness of file systems. We develop the tool for generating bad sectors on disks and the tool which creates all physical errors defined in storage devices. We also develop the tool for immediately monitoring the condition of read and write execution on storage devices. So, by integrating those tools, we develop FORT, test framework for confirming robustness of file system. We analyze robustness of ext3 file systems by FORT. Lastly, we present draft of intelligent system merging file system and device driver's layer architecture.
