We have analyzed wind and eddy covariance data collected within roughness sublayer over sloping terrain. The study site is located on non-flat terrain with slopes in both south-north and east-west directions. The surface elevation change is smaller than the height of roughness element such as building and tree. This study examines the directional wind shear for data collected at three levels in the lowest 10 m in the roughness sublayer. The wind direction shear is caused by drag of roughness element and terrain-induced motions at this site. Small directional shear occurs when wind speed at 10 m is strong and wind direction at 10 m is southerly which is the same direction as upslope flow near surface at this site during daytime. Correlation between vertical shear of lateral momentum and lateral momentum flux is smaller over steeply sloped surface compared to mildly sloped surface and lateral momentum flux is not down-gradient over steeply sloped surface. Quadrant analysis shows that the relative contribution of four quadrants to momentum flux depends on both surface slope and wind direction shear.

The fire effectiveness and the operationability of the ground weapon system (such as tank, armored vehicle, howitzer, MLRS, ${\cdots}$), whose operations are usually happened on the ground, are dependent not only on their performances but also on the terrain environments. Especially, the artillery weapons systems' effectiveness is largely varied, because their maneuverability (such as translation, occupation of their sites) and the fire effectiveness are very dependent on the terrain. In this paper, presented are the methods how to analyze the terrain using the digital terrain data. And a software (which are implemented on the IBM PC compatible personal computer) is developed for the analysis of the terrain using the various method of computer Aided Geometric Design and Modeling. The S/W is expected to be very useful for the evaluation of the artillery weapon systems and for the commanders' decision making.
A watershed terrain factor is known to the very important in studies of a stream and a watershed. We have obtained the terrain factor in map directly or we have generated it in a digitalized map. In this study, DTED(Digital Terrain Elevation Data) offering in DMA(Defense Mapping Agency) was used to create a stream and a watershed and to extract the terrain factor. As comparison of the factors gererated in digitalized map the terrain factors extracted in DTED, DTED could be used to extract a terrain factor for a watershed management.

In this thesis, we propose the 3D terrain modelling method for the better understanding of the geographic information. The process of 3D terrain medelling consists of three steps. The first step is to obtain real-world data from satellite images and stored in the form of DEM(Digital Elevation Model). The second one is to extract the meaningful data from DEM data based on LOD(Level Of Detail). And the third is to construct the 3D surface by TIN(Triangulated Irregular Network) with the extracted meaingful data. The proposed dynamic TIN reconstruction algorithm locally reconstruct the existed TIN model with the additional a new point. In this way, we can construct the TIN with the reduced time and can simulated 3D terrain model in real time.
This paper focuses on development of a testbed for analysis of robot-terrain interaction on rough terrain and also, through one wheel driving experiments using this testbed, prediction of maximum velocity and acceleration of UGV. Firstly, from the review regarding previous researches for terrain modeling, the main variables for measurement are determined. A testbed is developed to measure main variables related to robot-terrain interaction. Experiments are performed on three kinds of rough terrains (grass, gravel, and sand) and traction-slip curves are obtained using the data of the drawbar pull and slip ratio. Traction-slip curves are used to predict driving performance of UGV on rough terrain. Maximum velocity and acceleration of UGVs are predicted by the simple kinematics and dynamics model of two kinds of 4-wheel mobile robots. And also, driving efficiency of UGVs is predicted to reduce energy consumption while traversing rough terrains.
The geometric structure constructs terrain from height map and non-periodically tiling with Wang tile for the detail description. It will be able to express detail bump using parallax mapping to add decal data together with height data in tile. We solve the problem when the real-time rendering and propose improving of parallax mapping for the terrain.
The comparative performance of the WAsP in calculating the wind climate in complex terrain has been examined in order to test the predictability of the wind resource assessment computer code in our country. An analysis was carried out of predicted and experimental 10-min averaged wind data collected over 8 months at four monitoring sites in SongDang province, Jeju island, composed of sea, inland flat terrain, a high and a low slope craters. The comparisons show that the WAsP preditions give better agreement with experimental data by adjusting the roughness descriptions, the obstacle list.

Change detection, image differencing technique, is the most widely used in a variety of image environments. The digital terrain model and digital images have the same data structure. This study applied digital terrain model and change detection technique for inspecting the deflection of the structure. Authors make digital terrain model from triangular irregular network(TIN) by leveling data and suggest to possibility recognize modification part and volumes by digital terrain model and change detection technique. Authors can reduce testing materials and man power, and displayed his modification part.

Drone has been continuously studied in the field of geography and remote sensing. The basic researches have been actively carried out before the utilization in the field of photogrammetry. In Korea, it is necessary to study the actual way of research in accordance with the drone utilization environment. In particular, analysis on the characteristics of DSM (Digital Surface Model) generated through drone are needed. In this study, the characteristic of drone DSM as a data acquisition method was analyzed for coastal management. The coastal area was selected as the study area, and data was acquired by using drone. As a result of the study, the terrain model and the ortho image of coastal area were produced. The accuracy of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) results were very high about 10cm at check points. However, concavo-convex shapes appeared in very flat areas such as tidal flats and roads. To correct this terrain model distortion, a new terrain model was created through data processing and the results were evaluated. If additional studies are carried out and the construction and analysis of terrain model using drone image is done, drone data for coastal management will be available.
One of the major problems in GIS(Geographical Information Systems) involves acquiring 3-D terrain data. Because conventional methods such as land surveying or analysis of aerial photographs are costly, the method of using existing paper maps has been gaining considerable attention. This method demands three processing steps: 1) extraction of contours, 2) assignment of height values to the extracted contours, 3) reconstruction of 3-D terrain data. In this paper we systematically develop a procedure for acquiring 3-D terrain data from contour solutions. For the first two steps, we describe the necessary operations and roughly sketch solutions. For the last step, we propose an efficient raster-based algorithm and present the results of experiments with existing paper map images.
