  • Stockigt sizing test, which is readily affected by individual tester's bias as well as testing conditions in recognizing red coloration, had to be modified to improve its reliability and reproducibility. The novel testing system with the automatic recognizing program of red coloration was developed with the auxiliary equipments including an automatic liquid dispenser and a specimen shifter. The analysis program used a hue value of a droplet image in recognizing a point of time on red coloration instead of RGB values that are not similar to human perception of color. Hue was more sensitive in recognizing the red coloration of a droplet than the other two factors, Saturation and Value. During the test, the program records the time consumed up to a specific hue value of a droplet on a specimen. Differently from the conventional test, the automatic test could obtain a reliable and reproducible sizing degree with a minor error. Furthermore, the Stockigt sizing degree measured by the automatic system showed great correlations with contact angle and Hercules sizing degree. It means that such great correlations will contribute to the development of an integrated measuring system capable of predicting contact angle, surface tension, surface energy and Hercules sizing degree of paper and paperboards through the Stbckigt sizing test. It was meaningful to note that the automatic system for Stbckigt sizing test might be able to used to predict contact angle, Hercules and Cobb sizing degree, based upon the high correlation coefficients.

  • 본 연구에서는 숫돌입자, 결합자 및 기공으로 조성된 연삭숫돌의 구조를 다공질 포성체로 보고, WA계 비트리파이드(vitrified) 및 레지노이드(resinoid) 결합자의 연삭숫돌시험편에 대하여 AE 계측방법을 이용한 인장, 압축, 굽힘 및 압렬시험을 실시하여 Babel과 Sines의 2축응력장해소이론과 연삭숫돌의 파괴조건을 관련시켜 평가함과 동시에, 이 때 검출되는 AE 신호 처리 파라미터(Parameter) 로부터 연삭숫돌의 자인자가 파괴강도 및 AE특성에 미치는 영향을 구명하여 파괴의 예지및 연삭숫돌수명의 예측가능성등의 파괴강도특성을 평가고찰하였다.

생리신호 측정을 통한 심리적 적정 운전상태 분석 (Analysis of Optimal and Pleasant Driving Condition using Physiological Signals)

  • 본 연구는 피부전도도(skin conductance response), 말초혈관 반응(peripheral plethysmograph), 피부온도 (skin temperature)와 심박수(heart rate)와 같은 다양한 생리신호를 측정하여 운전자의 심리반응을 통하여 적정 운전상태를 분석하고자 하였다. 운전자의 심리반응을 측정 및 분석하기 위하여 하드웨어와 알고리듬을 개발하였으며, 운전상황은 자동차 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 다양한 가상 운전상황을 설정하고 생리신호를 측정하였다. 측정 결과 운전자 생리신호가 운전환경의 변화에 따른 심리적 긴장 또는 이완 수준을 잘 반영하고 있고, 감정적 변화에는 다소 둔감한 것으로 나타났다. 이를 심리적 순위척도를 이용하여 정량화하여 심리적 적정 운전범위를 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 추후 운전자의 안전운전이나 건강상태를 모니터링 하기 위한 시스템 개발의 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

골판지의 와프 현상발생에 대한 원지 특성의 영향 (Effect of Base Paper Properties on Warp of Corrugated Board)

  • Basically corrugated board is composed of three layers of different basis weight and stock composition. Warp is well-known for one of the most important problems of corrugated board production. Warp is caused by difference of hygro-expansibility of linears between top and bottom. This research was performed to evaluate the effect of paper properties on the warp of corrugated board. To evaluate warp, dynamic expansion properties of paper was tested using DPM(dynamic penetration measuring system). The effects of sizing, stock composition and wet-pressing on dynamic expansion properties were also evaluated. Commercial base papers showed different dynamic expansion property depending on stock composition and papermaking operation. Sizing treatment decreased and wet-pressing increased the amount of dynamic expansion. To reduce warp of corrugated board, management of dynamic expansion of base papers should be controlled by manipulating moisture, heat and tension, using a variety of adjustments available on the corrugator.

Fe-Mn 이원계에서 비열탄성형 BCC 마르텐사이트와 HCP 마르텐사이트의 진동감쇠능 (Damping Capacities of Nonthermoelastic BCC and HCP Martensites of Fe-Mn Binary System)

  • The damping capacities of the nonthermoelastic bcc type lath martensite and of the nonthermoelastic hcp type thin plate martensite in Fe-Mn alloys were studied. Fe-17%Mn alloy showing the hcp type thin plate martensite was superior to Fe-4%Mn alloy having the bcc type lath martensite in damping capacity. The damping capacity of the Fe-17%Mn alloy became greater with increasing the hcp martensite volume fraction. The damping mechanism of the Fe-4%Mn alloy was well explained by the dislocation model. However, the damping mechanism of the Fe-17%Mn alloy was explained on the basis of austenite/martensite interface moving model. The two alloys showed almost same levels of tensile strength. However, the elongation was greater in the Fe-17%Mn alloy than in the Fe-4%Mn alloy, showing lower yield strength in the former than in the latter. This result was considered to be attributed to formation of stress-induced martensite during tension test.

Effect of Pretension on Moored Ship Response

  • Moonpools are vertical wells in a floating body used onboard many types of vessels like Exploration and drilling vessels, Production barges, Cable-laying vessels, Rock dumping vessels, Research and offshore support vessels. Moonpool gives passage to underwater activities for different types of ships as per their mission requirements. It is observed that inside a moonpool considerable relative motions may occur, depending on shape, depth of the moonpool and on the frequency range of the waves to which the ship is exposed. The vessel responses are entirely different in zero and non-zero Froude number. Former situation is paid attention in this study as the mission requirement of the platform is to be in the particular location for long period of operation. It is well known that there are two modes of responses depending on the shape of the moonpool viz., piston mode for square shape and sloshing mode for rectangular shapes with different aspect ratios of opening like 1:1.5 and 1:2 ratios. Circular shaped moonpool is also tested for measuring the responses. The vessel moored using heavy lines are modelled and tested in the wave basin. The pretensions of the lines are varied by altering the touchdown points and the dynamic tensions on the lines are measured. The different modes of oscillations of water column are measured using wave gauge and the vessel response at a particular situation is determined. RAOs calculated for various situations provide better insight to the designer.

  • 심플렉스 연료노즐의 분무시험을 수행하였다. 가스터빈의 주 연료인 등유를 이용한 연료노즐 분무시험의 경우 폭발의 위험과 유해성으로 인하여 물을 이용하여 시험을 수행하는 경우가 많이 있게 된다. 본 연구에서는 ND:Yag 레이저를 이용한 가시화 시험과 PDPA 시스템을 이용한 입자 크기 측정 시험을 등유와 같은 특성을 가지는 Calibration Fluid Type # 2와 물을 작동유체로 사용하여 수행하였다. 시험결과에서 물의 SMD는 Calibration Fluid Type # 2 보다 5$\sim$15 mm 정도 크게 나타났으며 이는 물의 표면장력이 3배 정도 크기 때문으로 판단된다. 반면에 분무각과 분무형태는 유사하게 나타났다.

디젤 고압 분사 시스템에서 디젤-에탄올 혼합연료의 분무 및 미립화 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Spray-atomization Characteristics of Diesel-ethanol Blended Fuels in a High Pressure Diesel Injection System)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of ethanol blending ratio and fuel temperature in diesel-ethanol blended fuel on the spray-atomization characteristics in a high pressure common-rail injection system. In this work, a diesel fuel and three blended fuels were used as test fuels. Blended fuels were made by blending ethanol with a purity 99.9% to diesel fuel, from 0% to 30%. In order to keep diesel-ethanol blending stability, 5% of biodiesel fuel as volumetric ratio was added into test fuels. The fuel temperature was controled in steps with 40K, from 290K to 370K. Macroscopic spray characteristics were investigated by analyzing the spray tip penetration and spray cone angle through spray images obtained from visualization system. In addition, in order to study microscopic spray characteristics of ethanol blended fuels, the droplet diameter, was analyzed using the droplet measuring system. It is revealed that the spray tip penetration is similar regardless of ethanol blending ratio. As ethanol blending ratio is increased, the spray cone angle becomes wider. It is shown that the spray cone angle is affected by low viscosity and density of ethanol. As the fuel temperature increases, the spray tip penetration and spray cone angle become shorter and narrower respectively. The SMD of ethanol blending fuels is smaller than that of diesel fuel because of low viscosity and surface tension of ethanol.

순수 물에서 SDS/Brij 30, DBS/Brij 30 및 SDS/DBS 혼합계면활성제의 미셀화에 대한 비교연구 (Comparative Study on the Micellization of SDS/Brij 30, DBS/Brij 30, and SDS/DBS Mixed Surfactant Systems in Pure Water)

  • [ $25^{\circ}C$ ] 순수 물에서 음이온성 계면활성제인 DBS(sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate)와 SDS(sodium dodecylsulfate) 그리고 비이온성 계면활성제인 Brij 30(polyoxyethylene(4) lauryl ether) 사이의 혼합미셀화에 대한 임계미셀농도(CMC)와 반대이온의 결합상수값(B)을 전도도법과 표면장력계법으로 측정하였다. 이와 같이 측정한 CMC값에 비이상적 혼합미셀화 모델을 적용함으로써 여러 가지 열역학적 함수값($X_i,\;{\gamma}i,\;C_i,\;a_i^M,\;{\beta}$${\Delta}H_{mix}$)들을 계산하여 상호 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, SDS는 DBS보다 Brij 30과 더욱 강한 상호작용을 이루었으며, SDS/Brij 30 혼합계면활성제가 이상적 혼합미셀화로부터 가장 큰 음의 벗어남을 보였다. 그리고 SDS/DBS 혼합계면활성제는 거의 이상적 혼합미셀화를 이루는 것으로 나타났다.

부착식 PSC 텐던의 종진동 메카니즘 (Longitudinal Vibration Mechanism of Grouted PSC Tendon)

  • 본 연구는 부착식 PSC 텐던에 도입된 긴장응력이 종진동 거동에 미치는 메커니즘을 규명한다. 텐던의 종방향 직선변형과 비틀림변형은 상호 연동하여 거동하고, 텐던에 도입된 긴장응력은 축강성과 비틀림강성에 영향을 미친다. 그러므로 텐던의 탄성파 속도를 계측함으로써 텐던에 도입된 긴장응력을 추정 할 수 있다. 이는 텐던의 탄성파속도가 축강성과 비틀림강성의 함수이기 때문에 가능하다. 도입 긴장력이 다른 6개의 PSC 보 시험체에 대한 종진동 실험결과를 이용하여 텐던의 종진동 특성과 도입 긴장응력 사이의 역학적 메커니즘이 검증되었다. 이를 위하여, 탄성파 속도로부터 텐던의 시스템 강성을 추정할 수 있는 시스템인식 이론이 적용 되었다. 추정 결과는 기존 문헌의 연구결과와 비교 검토되었다.
