A numerical method for analyzing non-isothermal plastic deformation of sheet metals has been developed and sheet tensile tests have been analyzed using a two-dimensional finite element formulation. A modified Bishop`s method is used to solve the thermoplasticity problem in decoupled form at each time step. The accuracy of the analysis is confirmed by comparison with experimental data. The uniform elongation is found is drop by 0.1 to 2.7% at moderate strain rates, while total elongation decreases upto 6.0% during tensile testing in air compared to the isothermal case. The effect of deformation heating, becomes more pronounced as necking develops and at higher testing speed.

The objective of this study is to assess plastic deformation in aluminium alloy by acoustic nonlinearity of laser-generated surface waves. A line-arrayed laser beam made by high-power pulsed laser and mask slits is utilized to generate the narrowband surface wave and the frequency characteristics of laser-generated surface waves are controlled by varying the slit opening width and slit interval of mask slits. Various degrees of tensile deformation were induced by interrupting the tensile tests so as to obtain aluminum specimens with different degrees of plastic deformation. The experimental results show that the acoustic nonlinear parameter of a laser-generated surface wave increased with the level of tensile deformation and it has a good correlation with the results of micro-Vickers hardness test and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) test. Consequently, acoustic nonlinearity of laser-generated surface wave could be potential to characterize plastic deformation of aluminum alloy.

Aluminum rear lower arm is designed for luxury sedan and manufactured by hollow sand casting in the present study. Here we present the relationship between local microstructure and coupon tensile test in the rear lower arm. The characteristics of the local tensile deformation are supposed to be dependent upon Si distribution and DAS (dendrite arm spacing). Si distribution affects the yield strength and DAS affects the elongation of local area in the part, respectively.

Mechanical properties of the materials used for transportations and industrial machinery under high stain rate loading conditions have been required to provide appropriate safety assessment to these mechanical structures. The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB) technique with a special experimental apparatus can be used to obtain the material properties under high strain rate loading condition. There have been many studies on the material behavior under high strain rate compressive loading compared to those under tensile loading. In this paper, mechanical properties of the aluminum alloy, Al6061-T6, under high strain rate tensile loading were determined using SHPB technique.

It is visualized that dislocations move straightly in polycrystalline structure and the trans-grain dislocation moving occur from yield point to ultimate tensile stress. Some fracturemodes in uniaxial tensile test are ilustrated in order to explain that after the ultimate point the grains deforms by twins and the rotations of grains make cracks at the grain-boundaries by the incompatibility . The luders banks. which propagates along the axis of the specimen, are twin bands whcih are formed by rearrangement of the atoms within the structure of three-dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bondings. The fatigue limit can be found through the atom's rolling back motion during elastic deformation inthe uniaxial tensile test by the change of the gradient.

The deformation behaviors of fully annealed or T6-treated 6061 and 7075 aluminum tubes are investigated at elevated temperature using uniaxial tensile test. Fully annealed 6061 and 7075 tube, and T6-treated 7075 tube do not show sharp local necking with an elongation of $50\%$ at tensile temperature of $300^{\circ}C$, accordingly, it is expected that warm hydroforming process can be applied. The increase of tensile temperature does not significantly affect the total elongation of T6-treated 6061 tube.

Since Outerrace is one of the components of driving shaft for power train of automobile and transmits high torque, high strength and high toughness are necessary so forging process is adopted to manufacture such parts. Therefore, in order to improve strength and toughness, heat treatment is accomplished after plastic deformation(forging). Because Each component of driving shaft is mounted to automobile after a series of forging, machining and heat treatment, in order to evaluate mechanical properties of such components in use, plastic deformation and heat treatment must be considered. So, in this paper, tensile tests are performed with tensile specimens which have passed through a series of upsetting, machining and heat treatment to evaluate mechanical properties of such components.

In this study behavior of deformation and fracture under static tensile load in friction welded dissimilar materials and necking 0phenomenon occuring at tensile yeilding point were shown. Fibrous zone with view of macroscope and dimple pattren with a view of microscope were observed at shear surface.
In the present study, the effect of microporosity on the tensile properties of as-cast AZ91D magnesium alloy was investigated through experimental observation and numerical prediction. The test specimens were fabricated by die-casting and gravity-casting. For gravity-casting, the inoculation and use of various metallic moulds were applied to obtain a wide range of microporosity. The deficiency of the interdendritic feeding of the liquid phase acted as d dominant mechanism on the formation of the micropores in the Mg-Al-alloys, rather than the evolution of hydrogen gas. Although tensile strength and elongation has a nonlinear and very intensive dependence upon microporosity, the yield strength appeared to have a linear relationship with microporosity. However, it was possible to quantitatively estimate the linear contribution of microporosity on the individual tensile property far a range of microporosity, which was below about B %. The numerical prediction suggests that the effect of microporosity on fractured strength and elongation decreased as the strain hardening exponent increased. Furthermore. the shape and distribution of micropores may play a more dominant role than local plastic deformation on the tensile behavior of AZ9lD alloy.
The response mechanism of simply supported two-way reinforced concrete (RC) slabs under fire was numerically studied from the view of stress redistribution using the finite element software ABAQUS. Results show that: (1) Simply supported two-way RC slabs undergo intense stress redistribution, and their responses show four stages, namely elastic, elastic-plastic, plastic and tensile membrane stages. There is no cracking in the fire area of the slabs until the tensile membrane stage. (2) The inverted arch effect and tensile membrane effect improve the fire resistance of the two-way slabs. When the deflection is L/20, the slab is in an inverted arch effect state, and the slab still has a good deflection reserve. The deformation rate of the slab in the tensile membrane stage is smaller than that in the elastic-plastic and plastic stages. (3) Fire resistance of square slabs is better than that of rectangular slabs. Besides, increasing the reinforcement ratio or slab thickness improves the fire resistance of the slabs. However, an increase of cover thickness has little effect on the fire resistance of two-way slabs. (4) Compared with one-way slabs, the time for two-way slabs to enter the plastic and tensile cracking stage is postponed, and the deformation rate in the plastic and tensile cracking stage is also slowed down. (5) The simply supported two-way RC slabs can satisfy with the requirements of a class I fire resistance rating of 90 min without additional fire protection.
