After volar locking plating of distal radius fracture, complications arising from unrecognized dorsally prominent screws penetrating the extensor compartments are increasingly reported. However, standard radiography and fluoroscopy may not adequately visualize screw lengths, because of complex shape of dorsal cortex of the distal radius. We presented case of ultrasonography diagnosis of extensor tenosynovitis caused by dorsal screw prominence after volar plate fixation of distal radius fracture.

Anatomy: Advanced knowledges of cellular and molecular biology led to the development of therapies of rheumatoid arthritis(RA). Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, recurrent, systemic inflammatory disease and results in major deformity or dysfunction of joints. Etiology: Rheumatoid arthritis is now concevied as autoimmune disease. There have been many trials to define the immunological changes in rheumatoid arthritis. But now pathogenesis and significance of immunoglobulin complement and rheumatoid factor are not full accepted. Syndrome: Joints are characteristically involved with early inflammatory changes in the synovial membrane, peripheral portions of the articular cartilage, and lation tissue(pannus) forms, covers, and erodes the articular cartilage, bone and ligaments within the jiont capsule. Inflammatory changes also occur in tendon sheaths(tenosynovitis), and if subjected to a lot of friction, the tendons may fray or rupture. Extra-articular pathological changes sometimes occur, these include rheumatoid nodules, atrophy and fibrosis of muscles, and mild cardiac changes. Treatment: Tumor necrosis factor(TNF) inhibitor for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) induces not only significant improvement of symptoms and signs of RA but also substantial inhibition of progressive joint damage.

Avian reoviruses have been implicated in respiratory disease enteric conditions including Cloacal pasting in young thicks, pericarditis, hydropericardium, anaemia with swollen spleen and liver and petechiation of skeletal muscle and viral arthritis. This study was conducted to examine properties of reovirus field 3 strains isolated from affected broiler from several farms. An infectious agent was isolated from leg tendons and intestine of broiler with clinical tenosynovitis. The agent grew well on the chicken embryo kideny cells(CEK). One of them produced cytopathic effects(CPE) of round type and formed intranuclear inclusions, and the other was characterized by CPE of syncytical type and cytoplasmic inclusion. The properties and serological classification of field strains were examined by hemagglutin test, virus neutralization test, agar gel precipitin, electropherotype. They showed no hemagglutination reactions and not well neutralization and to possess common antigens detectable by AGP test. RNA electropherotype presented 10 segment band as the previous report. These data suggest that the field strains and standard strains (1133, 1733) may be the same group.

The hallucal interphalangeal sesamoid bone is usually asymptomatic, but it is not uncommon for it to be symptomatic in cases of undue pressure, overuse, or trauma. Even in symptomatic cases, however, patients often suffer for extended periods due to misdiagnosis, resulting in depression and anxiety that can steadily worsen to the extent that symptoms are sometimes mistaken for a somatoform disorder. Dynamic ultrasound-guided evaluations can be an effective means of detecting symptomatic sesamoid bones, and a simple injection of a small dose of local anesthetics mixed with steroids is an easily performed and effective treatment option in cases, for example, of tenosynovitis.

The degenerative cells probiferate to replace by the active vigorous cells by laser rays and suppressed the growth of cell in pathological lesion or condition laser rays promote healing by stimulating growth of celt or tissue The purpose of this study was to introduce about the principles of therapeutic laser ray, characteristics, indication, contraindication, technique, therapeutic effect or clinical effect throughout refference books. The author believe that therapeutic laser rays will contribute grently toward over coming the difficulties of physical therapy.

A five-year-old spayed female Labrador retriever presented with right forelimb lameness one day earlier. Radiographs and computed tomography of the right shoulder joint revealed conspicuous enthesophytes, bone cyst, and bone fragment at the intertubercular groove. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a loss of continuity of the biceps tendon and inhomogeneous hyperintense signal of the surrounding soft tissue and moderate synovial fluid on T2- and proton density-weighted images with contrast enhancement on the postcontrast T1-weighted images. The dog was diagnosed with tenosynovitis and biceps tendon rupture with osteoarthritis based on a comprehensive evaluation of the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging features.

Purpose: To evaluate pathologic patterns and outcomes of treatment of a biceps tendon lesion associated with a rotator cuff tear. Materials and Methods: We reviewed 92 patients (i) who underwent surgery for a cuff tear, (ii) for whom the biceps lesion could be observed retrospectively, and (iii) had a minimum follow-up of 2 years. The pathology of biceps tendon was classified into 4 types: tenosynovitis, fraying or hypertrophy, tear, and instability. All but the 4 with massive cuff tears were repaired. The biceps lesions were treated with debridement in 30, tenotomy in 10, tenodesis in 8, and recentering in 4. UCLA scoring was used for clinical results. Results: Seventy patients had a biceps lesion, 19 tenosynovitis, 22 fraying or hypertrophy, 21 a tear, and 8 instability. A biceps lesion was observed in 63% of cases of cuff tears below the medium size, and in 88% of cases with cuff tears above the large size. UCLA scores according to the pathology of the biceps lesion were 29.6 in the absence of a biceps lesion, and 28.3 in its presence. UCLA scores in patients with tenotomy or tenodesis for associated biceps tendon lesions were 28.2. Conclusion: There is a greater incidence and severity of a biceps lesion with a larger cuff tear. Therefore, the cause of a biceps lesion might be related to the cause of the cuff tear. Among the several options of treatment for biceps lesion, tenotomy or tenodesis may be particularly effective in providing pain relief.

The purposes of this study are to compare data for work-related musculoskeletal disorders(WMSDs) between Korea and USA, and to investigate status of WMSDs for industrial safety managers. The first part of this study was based on statistical data annually published by Minister of Labor of Korea and Bureau of Labor Statistics of USA. The latter was performed by using questionnaire survey for industrial safety managers in two regions. The results showed that the WMSDs incidence rate was significantly lower in Korea than in USA, and that there is big difference in the distribution of occupational illness by category of illness between Korea and USA. The questionnaire survey revealed that knowledge level about WMSDs was significantly affected depending upon corresponding companies' location and size, and that the low back pain was the most prevalent illness among varying WMSDs symptoms, followed by tendonitis/tenosynovitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tennis elbow. Based on this study, it is recommended that the future education/training for WMSDs focus on their preventative measures, methods/tools for identifying their risk factors, and diagnostic criteria for judging suspicious symptoms for industrial accidents, and that the governmental policy for WMSDs be changed towards financial supporting for preventive facilities, establishing objective diagnostic criteria and training for WMSDs.

Peroneal tendon dislocation in association with calcaneal fracture is not common and difficult to diagnose and is often overlooked. It can result in peroneal tendon tear and tenosynovitis which in turn lead to ankle pain and dysfunction. Early detection with through physical examination and CT scan is important to reduce the subsequent tendon dysfunction. We experienced 6 cases of peroneal tendon dislocation associated with calcaneal fracture, and treated 3 of them at the time of fracture operation and treated the other 3 after calcaneal fracture surgery due to sustained pain. We report the results with a review of the literature.

Avian reovirus (ARV) is the pathogenic agent of tenosynovitis and malabsorption syndrome in broiler, which has caused significant economical losses due to poor feeder efficiency and stunting. In order to determine the prevalence of ARV infection in poultry farms in Jeonbuk province, Korea, we performed a surveillance study by testing 179 cecal samples from 131 broiler farms for virus detection, and 1,181 serum samples from 33 broiler farms (n=292) and 22 broiler breeder farms (n=1,525) for antibody detection in the province. Virological examination using RT-PCR showed that ARV were detected in 26.0% of the tested farms (34/131),with the highest positive rates in broilers of 6 days old or more in summer season. In serological test using ELISA, broiler and broiler breeder farms examined were all ARV antibody positive. In broiler, the positive rate and antibody titers showed a tendency to decrease with age in contrast to those of broiler breeders. Our results indicate that ARV is ubiquitous in broilers and broiler breeders in the province.
