  • Background and Objectives: The integration of auditory-visual speech information improves speech perception; however, if the auditory system input is disrupted due to hearing loss, auditory and visual inputs cannot be fully integrated. Additionally, temporal coincidence of auditory and visual input is a significantly important factor in integrating the input of these two senses. Time delayed acoustic pathway caused by the signal passing through digital signal processing. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of hearing loss and hearing aid digital delay circuit on sound-induced flash illusion. Subjects and Methods: A total of 13 adults with normal hearing, 13 with mild to moderate hearing loss, and 13 with moderate to severe hearing loss were enrolled in this study. Subsequently, the sound-induced flash illusion test was conducted, and the results were analyzed. Results: The results showed that hearing aid digital delay and hearing loss had no detrimental effect on sound-induced flash illusion. Conclusions: Transmission velocity and neural transduction rate of the auditory inputs decreased in patients with hearing loss. Hence, the integrating auditory and visual sensory cannot be combined completely. Although the transmission rate of the auditory sense input was approximately normal when the hearing aid was prescribed. Thus, it can be concluded that the processing delay in the hearing aid circuit is insufficient to disrupt the integration of auditory and visual information.

  • In this paper, a multimedia authoring system using temporal/spatial synchronization manager is designed and implemented to support easy and efficient generation of multimedia title. For this goal, a flowchart-oriented logic generator which represents a title author's design intent into a practical title composition logic without extra translation process, and a logic interpreter which translate and implement the generated title logic, are designed. Furthermore, a temporal/spatial synchronization manager which manages temporal/spatial synchronization information between media data for multimedia representation, is designed. Especially, a temporal specification model and MRL, a formal language for the model, are designed to synchronize the temporal relation between media objects. The MRL represents a complex temporal relation by simple and clear form, and synchronizes efficiently multimedia representation according to the author's intent. A presentation frame editor which makes coincidence between visible size of representation media and attachment point, is implemented for spatial synchronization.

  • Suspended sediment distribution and water column processes in the upper Neuse River estuary, North Carolina, were monitored monthly from February 1988 through February 1989, in order to identify the turbidity maximum, to determine its temporal and spatial variation under changing conditions(freshwater runoff, wind, and tide). During most of the observation periods a weak turbidity maximum, associated with the estuarine circulation processes, developed at a flow convergence zone, near the upstream limit of salt intrusion. No turbidity maximum was found when the water column was vertically homogeneous with respect to salinity and when there was no consistent upstream bottom flow. Annual migration of the turbidity maximum, accompanied by migration of salt intrusion, was over 20 km of the upper estuary. Due to the coincidence of dominant wind direction(NE-SW) with the main orientation of the Pamlico-Neuse system, wind played the dominant role in dynamics of the turbidity maximum by influencing the degree of salinity stratification and the extent and strength of estuarine circulation. Tidal effects on the sediment dynamics were negligible.

  • The evaluation of potential submarine groundwater is an important research topic for exploring an alternative water resource. Two different approaches, water budget analysis and Rn mass balance method, were employed to investigate the annual variation of submarine groundwater discharge in 2010 at a marine watershed located at the south-eastern part of Korean Peninsula. In order to obtain reliable hydrological data during study period, temporal and spatial variations of rainfall and soil moisture had been collected and hydro-meterological data such as temperature, humidity and wind speed were collected The runoff response was simulated using SCS-CN method with spatial distributions of landuse and soil texture from GIS analysis. Six different methods were used to estimate the monthly variation of evapotranspiration and field measurements of soil moisture were used to account for the infiltration. Comparisons of infiltration and surface runoff between simulation and water balance with measurements showed coincidence. The water budget analysis and Rn mass balance method provide mean daily submarine groundwater as 5.35 and 4.07 $m^3/m/day$ in 2010, respectively.

  • This study investigated the cadastral non-coincidence between real land using and cadastral book using Google Earth Web for difficult area to access that is more efficient method compared with field survey for saving time and money. An reading error has occurred eight parcels about dry field and paddy field but this method is more powerful in case of a danger area of steep, unregistered cemeteries of cadastral book using Google Earth Web of image interpretation that method takes 1 day, the accuracy is 96% and improved 20% more than field survey takes 5 days by 40 parcels. It's possible to reduce the manpower, time and budget could be minimized. In particular, it is need to land alteration of forests and fields category that finds 47 locations a burial ground of non register cadastre book. Google Earth Web method is enabling easy visual analysis of the future land administration of local governments to improving the reliability of temporal and economic costs can be very useful to reduce.
