Purpose: To report the use of multiband accelerated echo-planar imaging (EPI) for resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) to achieve rapid high temporal resolution at 3T compared to conventional EPI. Materials and Methods: rs-fMRI data were acquired from 20 healthy right-handed volunteers by using three methods: conventional single-band gradient-echo EPI acquisition (Data 1), multiband gradient-echo EPI acquisition with 240 volumes (Data 2) and 480 volumes (Data 3). Temporal signal-to-noise ratio (tSNR) maps were obtained by dividing the mean of the time course of each voxel by its temporal standard deviation. The resting-state sensorimotor network (SMN) and default mode network (DMN) were estimated using independent component analysis (ICA) and a seed-based method. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed between the tSNR map, SMN, and DMN from the three data sets for between-group analysis. P < 0.05 with a family-wise error (FWE) correction for multiple comparisons was considered statistically significant. Results: One-way ANOVA and post-hoc two-sample t-tests showed that the tSNR was higher in Data 1 than Data 2 and 3 in white matter structures such as the striatum and medial and superior longitudinal fasciculus. One-way ANOVA revealed no differences in SMN or DMN across the three data sets. Conclusion: Within the adapted metrics estimated under specific imaging conditions employed in this study, multiband accelerated EPI, which substantially reduced scan times, provides the same quality image of functional connectivity as rs-fMRI by using conventional EPI at 3T. Under employed imaging conditions, this technique shows strong potential for clinical acceptance and translation of rs-fMRI protocols with potential advantages in spatial and/or temporal resolution. However, further study is warranted to evaluate whether the current findings can be generalized in diverse settings.
Temporal bone CT, which is a high-resolution CT, uses a high tube voltage and a thin section thickness, so the scan dose is higher than that of adjacent areas. Accordingly, we applied changes to the reconstruction algorithm among the test conditions to find an algorithm with excellent sensitivity to lesions while reducing the test dose, and investigated its significance and the possibility of providing basic clinical data. As a result, when the tube voltage was lowered to 100 kVp and applied, the dose was reduced by about 35.6%, and when the definition algorithm was applied to the raw data acquired at 100 kVp, the SNR and CNR were excellent, and a statistically significant difference was shown when compared to other algorithms(p<0.05). And as a result of comparing structural similarity, the SSIM index was analyzed as 0.776, 0.813, and 0.741 for each ROI. Therefore, we believe that applying algorithm changes to temporal bone CT scans can partially reduce the dose generated from CT scans and are very meaningful in terms of basic clinical data.
There are increasing needs to deliver the multimedia streaming over heterogeneous networks. When considering network environments and equipment accessed by user, delivery of video streaming must be scalable. There are many kinds of scalable video coding: spatial, temporal, SNR, and hybrid. The SNR scalable and spatial resolution, but different SNR quality with respect to layers. The 1-layer SNR scalable encoder produces SNR scalable video streams with ease. But, there is drift problem. Modified 1-layer approach does not have this problem but coding inefficiency, and is not MPEG-compliant. The present MPEG-compliant 2-layer encoder comes out to reduce coding rate. But it still use only base layer to encode whole layer. In this paper, we propose adaptive MPEG-compliant 2-layer encoder. Using linear combination algorithm, encoder use 1 motion vector to encode the sequences efficiently. By dong this, we can achieve the coding efficiency of SNR scalable coding.
This paper introduces the method for detect voices and exact end point at low SNR by maximizing voice energy. Conventional VAD (Voice Activity Detection) algorithm estimates noise level so it tends to detect the end point inaccurately. Moreover, because it uses relatively long analysis range for reflecting temporal change of noise, computing load too high for application. In this paper, the SEM-VAD (Speech Energy Maximization-Voice Activity Detection) method which uses psycho-acoustical bark scale filter banks to maximize voice energy within frames is introduced. Stable threshold values are obtained at various noise environments (SNR 15 dB, 10 dB, 5 dB, 0 dB). At the test for voice detection in car noisy environment, PHR (Pause Hit Rate) was 100%accurate at every noise environment, and FAR (False Alarm Rate) shows 0% at SNR15 dB and 10 dB, 5.6% at SNR5 dB and 9.5% at SNR0 dB.
We propose an SNR-scalable coding algorithm for three-dimensional mesh sequences based on singular value decomposition (SVD). SVD achieves a coding gain by representing a mesh sequence with a small number of basis vectors and singular values. First, we introduce a bit plane coding scheme and derive a quantitative relationship between each bit plane and the reconstructed image quality. Using the relationship, we develop a rate-distortion (RD) optimized coding algorithm. Moreover, we propose prediction techniques to exploit the spatio-temporal correlations in real mesh sequences. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides significantly better RD performance than conventional SVD coders.

In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to automatically generate an RTP timestamp value that is required for the RTP packetization in order to transmit SVC video over various If networks such as Internet. Unlike the conventional single layer coding algorithms such as H.263, MPEG-4 and H.264, SVC generates a multi-layered single bitstream which is composed of a base layer and one or more enhancement layers in order to simultaneously provide temporal, spatial, and SNR scalability. Especially, in order to provide temporal scalability based on hierarchical B-picture prediction structure, the encoding (or transmission) and display order of pictures in SVC coding is completely decoupled. Thus, the timestamp value to be specified at the header of each RTP packet in video transmission does not increase monotonically according to the display time instant of each picture. Until now, no method for automatically generating an RTP timestamp when SVC video is loaded in a RTP packet has teen introduced. In this paper, a novel automatic RTP timestamp generation method exploiting the TID (temporal ID) field of the SVC NAL unit header is proposed to accommodate the SVC video transmission.
This paper presents a blind video watermarking algorithm that has the robustness against spatial, temporal, and SNR scalability and transcoding for the copyright protection of video contents in heterogeneous multimedia service. The proposed process of watermark embedding and detecting is accomplished on base layer for considering spatial scalability. The watermark consists of the string and the ordering number of string for considering temporal scalability. Thus, each of frames has the bitstream of one character and a ordering number of its character. To robust against FGS, the proposed algorithm quantizes low and middle frequency coefficients in ROI region of each of frames and embeds its watermark bitstream into the specific bits of the quantized coefficients. Experimental results verified that the proposed algorithm satisfies the invisibility of watermark and also has the robustness against spatial scalability, temporal scalability and FGS.

Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) has a plan to launch COMS for consistent monitoring of the Korean Peninsula. Korea Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is one of the main payloads of COMS which will provide a monitoring of ocean-colour around the Korean Peninsula from geostationary platforms. Ocean color observation from geostationary platform is required to achieve the proper spatial and temporal resolution for coastal observation mission. In this paper the characteristics of GOCI and LEO sensors are discussed. GOCI will provide the measurement data of 6 visible channels and 2 near-infrared channels (400nm ~ 900nm). The integration time and aperture diameter required to achieve the SNR specification of KGOCI are analyzed.

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance and image quality of 1.5-mm slice thickness MRI with deep learningbased image reconstruction (1.5-mm MRI + DLR) compared to routine 3-mm slice thickness MRI (routine MRI) and 1.5-mm slice thickness MRI without DLR (1.5-mm MRI without DLR) for evaluating temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 117 MR image sets comprising 1.5-mm MRI + DLR, 1.5-mm MRI without DLR, and routine MRI from 117 consecutive patients (mean age, 41 years; 61 female; 34 patients with TLE and 83 without TLE). Two neuroradiologists evaluated the presence of hippocampal or temporal lobe lesions, volume loss, signal abnormalities, loss of internal structure of the hippocampus, and lesion conspicuity in the temporal lobe. Reference standards for TLE were independently constructed by neurologists using clinical and radiological findings. Subjective image quality, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were analyzed. Performance in diagnosing TLE, lesion findings, and image quality were compared among the three protocols. Results: The pooled sensitivity of 1.5-mm MRI + DLR (91.2%) for diagnosing TLE was higher than that of routine MRI (72.1%, P < 0.001). In the subgroup analysis, 1.5-mm MRI + DLR showed higher sensitivity for hippocampal lesions than routine MRI (92.7% vs. 75.0%, P = 0.001), with improved depiction of hippocampal T2 high signal intensity change (P = 0.016) and loss of internal structure (P < 0.001). However, the pooled specificity of 1.5-mm MRI + DLR (76.5%) was lower than that of routine MRI (89.2%, P = 0.004). Compared with 1.5-mm MRI without DLR, 1.5-mm MRI + DLR resulted in significantly improved pooled accuracy (91.2% vs. 73.1%, P = 0.010), image quality, SNR, and CNR (all, P < 0.001). Conclusion: The use of 1.5-mm MRI + DLR enhanced the performance of MRI in diagnosing TLE, particularly in hippocampal evaluation, because of improved depiction of hippocampal abnormalities and enhanced image quality.

Suspended sediment concentration (SSC) is a crucial riverine parameter in terms that it can be utilized for analyzing sediment transport, stability assessment of river and structure and so on. However, in case of domestic, sediment discharge data are not enough because of using conventional sediment samplers. This study aimed at developing a practical technique for estimating suspended sediment concentration in high spatial and temporal resolution by building relationship between acoustic backscatter (or SNR) from H-ADCP with actually observed data using LISST-100X. In this regard, a dedicated correction algorithm was proposed particularly for the adapted H-ADCP (SonTek SL-3000). Then, a SNR-SSC relation was built based upon a real-scale field experiment, where both H-ADCP and LISST-100X were concurrently operated to observe SNR and SSC, respectively. The coefficient of determination for the developed regression equation of SNR-SSC relation was around 0.85~0.88, thereby the relation could be evaluated to be highly correlated. The result of this study might be potentially applied for real-time and simultaneous observation of SSC when H-ADCP could be applied.
