This paper presents classification of domestic fire detector using response time index. Response time is measured using fire detector distributed in Korea, and the response time index is estimated. Plunge test prescribed by FM is conducted to measure response time of fire detector. The detector used to test is fixed temperature type(thermistor and bimetal type) and rate of rise temperature type(thermistor and pneumatic type). The nominal operation temperature of fixed temperature type detector is $70^{\circ}C$ and rate of rise temperature is $15^{\circ}C/min$. The fixed temperature type is measured 7 products, and the rate of rise temperature type is measured 5 products. The results show that in case of fixed temperature type(thermistor) is classified "Quick" or "Standard" and fixed temperature type(bimetal) is not classified. The rate of rise temperature type(thermistor) is classified "Fast" or "Ultra Fast" and the rate of rise temperature type(pneumatic) is classified "Very Fast" or "Ultra Fast". The pneumatic type shows more fast response than thermistor type. Also these results indicate the fixed temperature type(bimetal) is not suitable for early stage fire detection.
This study aims to reveal the effects of shoe size room on the inner environment of shoes by examining the changes of footskin temperature, temperature and humidity of the shoes, and psychological responses. The following conclusions were made: 1. Skin temperature had significant differences according to shoe sizes in the inner foot parts (right/left) and the outer foot part (left). As time went, skin temperature was distributed as follows: Type A > Type C > Type B. 2. Skin temperature appeared in the following order: instep > inner foot > outer foot. 3. The temperature within the shoes had significant differences: Type A > Type C > Type B. But no significance was recognized in the humidity within the shoes: Type B > Type C > Type A. 4. Some significance was noticed in the psychological responses of size fitness and comfortableness. In size fitness, Type B was responded to be fitting, Type A little small, and Type C rather big. Moisture had similar changes according to three shoe sizes, but humid was the response as time went. Comfortableness appeared in the order of Type C > Type B > Type A.
This study is the first part of the research to reveal the effects of somatotype characteristics on body temperature control reaction as well as thermal sensation. Nine healthy female collegians (classified into 3 body types of thin, normal, and obese according to Rohrer index) living in Busan were chosen as the subjects. The following are the results: Significant differences of skin temperature appeared in the parts of epigastrium (thin/normal>obese), anterior forearm (normal>thin/obese), and anterior leg (obese > thin/normal) as well as mean skin temperature. Mean skin temperature temporarily dropped owing to the exercise but tended to recover as time went by. Skin temperature of normal/thin shows higher than obese type. The change of skin temperature was noticed in the order of forehead > epigastrium > anterior forearm > anterior leg > anterior thigh (obese type) ; epigastrium > forehead > anterior forearm > anterior thigh > anterior leg (normal type) ; epigastrium > forehead > anterior forearm > anterior thigh > anterior leg (thin type, before and after exercise); epigastrium > forehead > anterior forearm > anterior leg > anterior thigh (thin type, during exercise). Significant differences were shown in the temperature change inside clothes according to somatotypes. No significant differences were revealed in thermal sensation, moisture sensation, and comfortable sensation according to body types and time.
These studies were carried out to develop some easy-checking thermometers instead of taking temperature of ectum for the farmers to detect easily a diseased animal with fever. Thermometers such as pincher-type, hood-type, raser-type, stick-type, and wrap-type were devised for the experiments. The experimental animals were cattle, horse, swine, aprine, and canine. Temperature-taking parts of the body were ear, shoulder, axilla, gluteal part, and coccygeal part according o the devised thermometer. Rectal temperature was taken at the same time for the comparison of temperature between rectum nd the certain part. The difference of temperature between rectum and shoulder part using eraser-type thermometer for the domestic animals were $3.37^{\circ}C$ for cattle, $1.94^{\circ}C$ for horses, $2.04^{\circ}C$ for swine, $1.27^{\circ}C$ for caprine, $0.9^{\circ}C$ for canine. The difference of temperature between rectum and gluteal part using eraser-type thermometer for domestic animals were $3.46^{\circ}C$ for cattle, $1.98^{\circ}C$ for horses, $2.22^{\circ}C$ for swine, and $1.1^{\circ}C$ for canine. The difference of intra-individual temperature taken by eraser-type thermometer of shoulder and gluteal part were 0.3 and $0.8^{\circ}C$ for cattle, 0.7 and $1.1^{\circ}C$ for horses, 0.6 and $0.7^{\circ}C$ for swine, 0.9 and $1.1^{\circ}C$ for canine. The difference of temperature between rectum and shoulder part taken by hood-type thermometer for cattle was $3.93^{\circ}C$ and the difference of intra-individual temperature was $0.8^{\circ}C$. The difference of temperature between rectum and gluteal part taken by stick-type thermometer for cattle was $3.7^{\circ}C$ and the difference of intra-individual temperature was $0.8^{\circ}C$. The other types of thermometers than the above three were not proved to be reliable to detect temperature of domestic animals. It was concluded that hood-type, stick-type and eraser-type thermometers are recommendable devices of thermometer to detect easily the status of body temperature and that the eraser-type was proved to be a practical one of the thermometers used in this study.
The power water flowed out from the multipurpose darn influences the ecosystem approximately because of the low water temperature. An appropriate counter measure to the rising water temperature is needed for growing crops especially when the temperature is below 18˚C in the source of the irrigation water This observational study is practiced in Yong-Doo water warming canal and pond in the down stream of Choong-Ju multipurpose dam and is practiced for analyse and compare the rising effects in actural water temperature by actual measurement with the rising effects of planned water temperatuer by the basic theoritical method and for the help to present the direction in plan establishment through investigate the results afterwards. The results are as follows. 1.The degree of the rise of the water temperature can be decided by $\theta$x=$\theta$o +K L--v.h (T-$\theta$˚)Then, K values of a factor representing the characteristics of the water warming canal were 0.00002043 for the type I. and 0.0000173 for the type II. respectively. 2.A variation of water temperature which produced by the difference effective temperature and water temperature in the water warming canal was $\theta$x1 = 16.5 + 15.9(1-e -0.00018x), $\theta$x2 =18.8 + 8.4( 1-e -0.000298x)for the type I. and $\theta$x, = 19.6 + 12.8 ( 1-e -0.00041x) for the type II. 3.It was shown that the effects of the rise of water temperature for the type I. water warming canal were greater than that of type II. as a resultes of broadening the surface of the canal compared with the depth of water, coloring the surface of water canal and installing the resistance block. 4.In case of the type I. water warming canal, the equation between the air temperature and the degree of the rise of water temprature could be made ;Y= 0.4134X + 7.728 In addition, in case of the type II. water warming canal, the correlation was very low. 5.A monthly variation of the water temperature in the water warming canal was the highest in August during the irrigation period and the water temperature rose with the air temperature until August. However, it was blunted after then. 6.A rising degree of water temperature of the practical value in the water warming pond was higher than that of the theoritical equation by 69% for the type I. and 57% for the type II. Accordingly, it was possible to acquire the result near the practical value.$\theta$w-$\theta$o=[1-exp{ -h(1+2$\psi$) . X($\theta$w-$\theta$0)XC Here, C values are 1.69 for the type I. and 1.57 for the type II. 7.It was shown that the effect of the rise of water temperature was favorable when the thermal absorption was to be good by coloring the surface of the water warming pond and removing the bottom osmosis. 8.By enlarging the surface of water in comparison with the depth, and by having dead area of water in the water warming pond, this structure in the water warming pond is helpful for the rise of water temperature.
This paper presents analysis of temperature and light intensity characteristics of PV modules with solar cell type. Taking the effect of sunlight irradiance on the cell temperature, the first experiment takes ambient temperature as reference input and uses the solar insolation as a unique varying parameter. Then taking the effect of the cell temperature on sunlight irradiance, the second experiment takes 1000W/$m^2$ as reference input and uses the cell temperature as a unique varying parameter. As a result, varying sunlight irradiance, the Cell-Type with the smallest change in output is HIT and the Cell-Type with the biggest change in output is a-Si. Varying the cell temperature, the Cell-Type with the smallest change in output is a-Si and the Cell-Type with the biggest change in output is Single-Si. And considering both temperature and light intensity characteristics, the Cell-Type with the smallest change in output is HIT.
Current lead is one of the first proposed devices for the application of High Temperature-Superconductor(HTSC). The current lead provides high current for electrical machine using superconductor from room temperature. Its characteristics that is zero resistance and low heat transfer rate under critical temperature lead to research for the replacement of existing current lead with HTSC. In this paper, we investigated the temperature distributions of stacking type and rod type current lead with each cross-section area and length using Nastran program and compared each temperature distribution. It is obtained from this paper that stacking type current lead has flat temperature gradient and than rod type one and more stable operation as current lead is closely related with its cross-section area and length.
The purpose of this study was to investigate two different kinds of t-shirts on thermal responses at air temperature of $23{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of $70{\pm}5%$ and wind velocity not more than 0.5 m/sec. Five healthy men wearing boxy type t-shirts or fitted type t-shirts, participated as the subjects. Rectal temperature, skin temperatures, heart rate, clothing microclimate and subjective sensation were measured every 2 minute during experiment(rest, walking, recovery each 20 min.) and compared between two experimental garments(boxy type and fitted type t-shirts). Rectal temperature was lower in recovery phase at wearing fitted type t-shirts. Chest skin temperature was higher at wearing fitted type t-shirts and thigh and leg skin temperature were higher at wearing boxy type t-shirts.
Six healthy female volunteers twice undertook an experiment with different types of clothing leaving the arms and legs covered or uncovered at $24{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ and $50{\pm}5%$ RH to study how different thermal stimulation to the distal extremities during the afternoon could modulate circadian parameters of body temperature rhythm. One type of clothing consisted of long-sleeved shirts and full-length trousers (Type I, 989 g, 0.991 clo); the other type consisted of half-sleeved shirts and knee-length trousers (Type II, 750 g, 0.747 clo). Subjects wore Type I or Type II clothing during the afternoon (14:00 h - 19:00 h), and Type I clothing during the evening (19:00 h - 22:30 h) and the night sleep (22:30 h - 06:00 h). Rectal temperature and skin temperatures at the arm and leg were measured continuously. Results were as follows: 1) The circadian amplitude of rectal temperature tended to be greater, and the acrophase was significantly earlier when wearing Type II rather than Type I clothing. 2) The circadian nadirs of skin temperatures of the arm and leg were significantly lower and the amplitudes were significantly greater with Type II clothing. In addition, the acrophase and bathyphase of the circadian rhythm of arm skin temperature were significantly earlier with Type II than Type I clothing. 3) The amplitude of rectal temperature was related closely with that of arm and leg skin temperature. These results suggest that a slightly cool thermal stress during the afternoon to the arms and legs exerted by wearing half-sleeved shirts and knee-length trousers induces a greater amplitude and a phase advance of the overt circadian rhythm of body temperature.
In this paper, the propagation characteristics due to the horizontal water temperature variations in the sea such as thermal fronts is analyzed by the ray theory. Two models for the temperature anomaly layer are chosen. One is a plane type and the other is a cylindrical type. In the plane type, the temperature increases linearly from a isothermal region to 5km with the gradient of about $2^{\circ}C.$/km, and decreases with the same gradient in next 5km. In the cylindrical type, water temperature increases only with the same gradient from a half cylindrical thermal boundary surface. The result showed that the gradient of acoustic rays decreases in the temperature increasing region and vice versa in temperature decreasing region. And, the transmission loss due to the temperature variation was less than O.2dB in the plane type model as well as in the cylindrical one.
