  • Rises of temperature and resistance are observed in HTS tapes under over current condition. In this paper, we measured HTS tapes properties under low-over current condition with a little temperature rise as well as high-over current condition with a large temperature rise. According to the results of measurement, rises of temperature and resistance strongly depend on insulation level and duration of over current condition.

  • The real-time holographic interferometer with a digital high-speed camera is applied to the visualization of transient temperature field. Collimated and diffused laser beams are used to the object beam according to the shape and transmittance of the phase object. Also, ESPI(Electronic Speckle Speckle Pattern Interferometer) technique is used to the visualization and quantitatie measurement of slow-varying temperature field. The experimental results obtained form these two techniques are discussed.

  • In the equipments of industrial plant and marine engine, an exact temperature measurement is indispensable. Temperature measurement errors are induced by electrical and heat errors, and the insufficient immersion length of thermowell exerts an important effect to the haet error. In this paper, the author analyses the relation between temperature errors and the rate of immersion length to outside diameter (L/D) in order to reduce the heat errors.

  • In this paper, a technique of simultaneously measuring the velocity and the temperature in micro-scale flow is proposed. This method uses particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) for measuring the velocity and laser induced fluorescence (LIF) for measuring the temperature. To measure the accurate velocity and temperature, images for PTV and for LIF are separated by using two light sources and a shutter which is synchronized with a camera. By using only one camera, measurement system can be simplified and the error from complicate optical system can be minimized. Error analyses regarding the concentrations of fluorescent dye and particle and the light source fluctuation are also conducted. It is found that the error of the temperature and the velocity highly depends on the concentration of fluorescent particles which are used for PTV. This technique is applied to the simultaneous measurement of the velocity and the temperature in the electrokinetic flow. It is found that the velocity and temperature vary with the electric field strength and the concentration of electrolyte.

탄소강 담금질 공정의 온도 측정방법에 대한 고찰 (A Study on Temperature Measurement for Quenching of Carbon Steel)

  • To achieve desired microstructure and mechanical property of a manufacturing product, heat treatment process is applied as a secondary process after forging. Especially, quenching process is used for improving strength, hardness, and wear resistance since phase transformation occurs owing to rapid heat transfer from the surface of the specimen. In the present paper, a study on surface temperature measurement for water quenching of eutectoid steel was investigated. In order to determine the temperature history in experiments, three different measuring schemes were used by varying installation techniques of K-type thermocouples. Depending on the measured temperature distribution at the surface of the specimen, convective heat transfer coefficients were numerically determined as a function of temperature by the inverse finite element analysis considering the latent heat generation due to phase transformation. Based on the inversely determined convective heat transfer coefficient, temperature, phase, and hardness distributions in the specimen after water quenching were numerically predicted. By comparing the experimental and computational hardness distribution at three different locations in the specimen, the best temperature measuring scheme was determined. This work clearly demonstrates the effect of temperature measurement on the final mechanical property in terms of hardness distribution.

The Feasibility Study on a High-Temperature Application of the Magnetostrictive Transducer Employing a Thin Fe-Co Alloy Patch

  • The on-line monitoring for the wall thinning in secondary system has been considered one of main issues for the safety of nuclear power plants. To establish the on-line monitoring technique for the pipe wall thinning, the development of the ultrasonic transducer working in high-temperature is very important. In this investigation, the magnetostrictive transducer is concerned for high temperature condition up to $300^{\circ}C$. The magnetostrictive transducer has many advantages such as high working temperature, durability, cost-effectiveness, and shear waves, most of all. A thin Fe-Co alloy patch whose Curie temperature is over $900^{\circ}C$ was employed as a ferromagnetic material for magnetostriction. Wave transduction experiments in various temperature were carried out and the effect of bias magnets was considered together with the dry coupling performance of the transducer. From experimental results, consequently, it was found that the magnetostrictive transducer works stable even in high temperature up to $300^{\circ}C$ and can be a promising method for the on-line monitoring of the wall thinning in nuclear power plants.

  • Conducting and semiconducting temperature sensors are calibrated and applied to cryomodules. The definition of temperature is introduced and the pressure in vacuum is shown as a function of temperature. The resistance of Drude model is shown as a function of carrier density and mean free path. Temperature sensors are calibrated with Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS). The temperature sensors are applied to measure temperature accurately in RAON cryomodules.

  • 최근 생활수준의 향상으로 외식문화가 발전하고 있고 온라인과 오프라인으로도 냉동식품의 택배수요가 날로 증가하고 있다. 현재 이러한 식품유통의 대부분은 냉동차량에 의해서 이루어지고 있다. 냉동차량에서 가장 중요한 요소 중에 하나는 정확히 온도를 측정하는 것이다. 기존의 상용 온도 기록 시스템은 일반적으로 온도 센서 모듈을 기록계에 직접 연결하는 형태이다. 이러한 기존의 방법은 전선을 사용하여 기록계에 온도 데이터를 전송하기 때문에 케이블의 길이에 따라 저항 오차를 보상해야한다. 본 논문은 케이블 내의 저항으로 인해 발생하는 오차를 극복하기 위해서 디지털 처리와 CAN (Controller Area Network) 통신을 사용하는 것을 제안한다. 또한 온도 측정의 정확도를 높이기 위해서 백금 센서인 PT-1000을 사용한다.

데오도라이트 시스템의 측정 오차 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Measurement Error Factors of Theodolite System)

  • Theodolite measurement system is non-contacted 3-dimensional measurement system. The system accuracy is 0.5 mm or better for distance 0 ~ 100 m. And the system is used for the measurement of a product for middle and large scale. This study was performed for finding the measurement error factors of the system. We could know that the main error factors are temperature, illumination and expertness. And we could find the measurement errors are $\pm$ 0.045 mm at temperature conditions is 2$0^{\circ}C$ and $\pm$ 0.012 mm at illumination condition is 300 lux. Also the results had significant differences by combinations of operator's expertness.
