Analysis of Economic Replacement Cycle of Power Transformer Based on LCC Considering Maintenance Effect

  • Electric utilities has been considered the necessity to introduce asset management of electric power facilities in order to reduce maintenance cost of existing facilities and to maximize profit. This paper aims to provide data that can helpful to make profitable decision in terms of power transformers which have a significant part in the power system. Therefore, this study is modeling input cost for power transformer during its entire life and also the life cycle cost (LCC) technique is applied. In particular, the variation of transformer state related with maintenance and the variation of the EUAC curve based on cost and effect of maintenance is examined. In this study, the trend of the equivalent uniform annual cost (EUAC) according to maintenance cycle and cost of equipment is analyzed. In line with that, sensitivity analysis influenced by the changes of other cost factors was performed.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Analysis by LNG Fuel Tank Size through Life Cycle

  • As greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport are increasing, the International Maritime Organization is continuously working to strengthen emission regulations. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel is less advantageous as a point of CO2 reduction due to the methane leakage that occurs during the bunkering and operation of marine engines. In this study, greenhouse gas emissions from an LNG-fueled ship were analyzed from the perspective of the life cycle. The amount ofmethane emission during the bunkering and operation procedures with various boil-off gas (BOG) treatment methods and gas engine specifications was analyzed by dynamic simulation. The results were also compared with those of other liquid fuel engines. As a result, small LNG-fueled ships without a BOG treatment facility emitted 32% more greenhouse gas than ships utilizing marine gas oil or heavy fuel oil. To achieve a greenhouse gas reduction via a BOG treatment method, a gas combustion unit or re-liquefaction system must be mounted, which results in a greenhouse gas reduction effect of about 25% and 30%. As a result of comparing the amount of greenhouse gas generated according to the BOG treatment method used with each tank size from the perspective of the operating cycle with the amounts from using existing marine fuels, the BOG treatment method showed superior effects of greenhouse gas reduction.

  • In response to national and international regulations for resource circulation and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the automotive industry has tried to reuse scrap parts and defective products produced in the disposal or production stages as recycled resources. Attempts have been made to reach the target recycling rate by reducing the number of material types required for each part. Moreover, in order to achieve greenhouse gas reduction targets while maintaining the performance of existing products, lighter components are being developed. Existing products were 100% incinerated at the disposal stage, but the uni-materialized products were improved to be possible that it could be recycled 90% through scraps and the defective product in the pre-production and production stage. It also appears that the fuel efficiency improves through 56% lightweight compared to the existing product. In this paper, a preliminary assessment is conducted on the applicability of uni-materialized product development of car parts. The environmental impact values of existing products and developed prototypes are compared and analyzed through life cycle assessment.

A Study on the Reduction of $CO_2$ Emission by the Application of Clean Technology in the Cement Industry (시멘트산업공정에서의 $CO_2$배출량 저감을 위한 청정기술 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The feasibility of clean technology to minimize the $CO_2$ emission by recycling and reuse the waste materials and energy have been studied for the cement industry. A life cycle assessment (LCA) was performed for an alternative raw material-supply method to use the molted slag as the major raw material in the cement clinker manufacturing. Using this new method, a 60% of $CO_2$ could be reduced that comes out during the decarboxylation from the cement rotary kiln. The energy-efficiency improvement and the alternative energy methods that had been determined in our previous study through the environmental assessment of cement industry were applied to the study for the reduction of $CO_2$ emission. The natural gas, one of the fossil fuels, was also used as the first choice to get the result at the earliest time by the most economic and the most efficient green technology and to switch into the carbon neutral energy consumption pattern.

  • Social manufacturing architecture is based on information delivery through social media and SNS, PLM and social platform, crowd source and knowledge base on whole phase of product life cycle. Although advanced social manufacturing issues are rising globally, its technology emerging into domestic industry is likely to be slow. We focused to review technological changes and R&D trend, patent issues, and then suggest assignments and advices to be practiced for social manufacturing modeling.

  • 본 연구는 토지 보상비의 추정 모델 개발을 위해서 건설 CALS (Continuous Acquisition & Life-cycle Support) 시스템의 내부데이터와 개별공시지가 및 표준지 공시지가 등의 외부데이터, 그리고 개발된 추정 모델의 고도화를 위한 개별공시가 데이터를 기반으로 생성된 데이터를 활용하였다. 이렇게 수집된 3가지 유형의 데이터를 분석하기 위해서 기존 선형 모델 또는 의사결정나무 (Tree) 기반의 모델상 과적합 오류를 제거할 경우 매우 유용한 알고리즘으로 Decision Tree 기반의 Xgboost 알고리즘을 데이터 분석 방법론으로 토지 보상비 추정 모델 개발에 활용하였다. Xgboost 알고리즘의 고도화를 위해 하이퍼파라미터 튜닝을 적용한 결과, 실제 보상비와 개발된 보상비 추정 모델의 MAPE(Mean Absolute Percentage Error) 범위는 19.5%로 확인하였다.

A Fatigue Life Prediction by Growth Characteristics of a Small Surface Crack (작은 표면균열의 성장특성에 의한 수명예측)

  • This paper deals with a fatigue life prediction of a surface crack based on the experimentally obtained relationship between surface crack length ratio $a/a_{f}$ and cycle ratio $N/N_{f}$ using micro computer. Firstly $a/a_{f}$-$N/N_{f}$ curves obtained from experimental tests, were assumed as three curves UC(the upper limit curve), LC(the lower limit curve) and MC(the middle curve), and these were utilized to predict the fatigue life. Comparing the calculated values which represent the characteristics of crack growth behaviors from the three assumed curves with the experimental ones, it has been found that in the stable crack growth region, they coincide reasonably well each other. And the differences between the fatigue lives obtained from the assumed curves and the experimental fatigue life did not exceed 20%. Using the characteristics of $a/a_{f}$-$N/N_{f}$ curves, it is possible to predict the da/dN-Kmax curves and the S-$N_{f}$ curves.
