In this study, the J-Resistance Curve and material tearing modulus of SA508-C3 steel, which is one of the used nuclear pressure vessel steel, are measured ar room temperature, $200^{circ}C$ and $300^{circ}C$ according to load ratio analysis and ASTM E813, ASTM E1152, respectively. It is observed that J-R curve and Tmat value decrease as the temperature level increase. Applicability of $T_j$ proposed by Paris et al as instability parameter for ductile material is investigated. It is concluded that results are the $T_j$ parameter may be used as a crack instability parameter.

In this study, a new function with higher accuracy for fire heat release rate prediction was developed. The 'αt2' curve, which is the major exponential function currently used for fire engineering calculations, must be improved to minimize the prediction gap that causes fire system engineering inefficiency and lower cost-effectiveness. The newly developed prediction function was designed to cover the initial fire stage that features rapid growth based on logistic function theory, which has a more logical background and graphical similarity compared to conventional exponential function methods for 'αt2'. The new function developed in this study showed apparently higher prediction accuracy over wider range of fire growth durations. With the progress of fire growth pattern studies, the results presented herein will contribute towards more effective fire protection engineering.

Bulk GaN crystals were grown by the basic ammonothermal method. The c-plane GaN templates grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy were used as seed crystals and sodium metal, amide, and azide were added as a mineralizer. The growth conditions are at temperatures from $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ and pressures from 2~3 kbar. The growth rate for the c-axis was increased with increasing the operating pressure. Average dislocation density was measured $1{\times}10^5/cm^2$ by the cathodoluminescence measurement. The full-width at half-maximum of the X-ray diffraction rocking curve for (002) reflection was approximately 270 arcsec for Ga face and 80 arcsec for N face.
For orthodontic treatment of growing patients and those which involve long treatment times, knowledge of growth and development are essential. Data from the general growth observation chart being used at present does not reflect the growth transition of modern times. This is because these data are out of date. The present study, therefore, aims to introduce the process of producing a growth curve and growth rate curve based on data which represents a more accurate description of the present situation. The data used were from the 5th nationwide surrey, SIZE KOREA 2004 study, carried out by the Technology and Standards Policy Division, Department of Technology and Standards Planning, Ministry of Commerce. Processing and rearranging produced data with variations divided into the three quartiles and the 1st, 5th, 95th and 99th percentiles were included to produce a growth observation chart according to sex, height and weight differences. In the same way, a growth rate curve based on the geometric mean value was produced. The resulting growth charts can be used as an index for growth and development, and used for better communication between the orthodontist, patients and parents.
Some growth curve models were used to fit individual growth of 1,083 Hanwoo cows born from 1970 to 2001 in Daekwanryeong branch, National Livestock Research Institute(NLRI). The effects of year-season of birth and age of dam were analyzed. In analysis of variance for growth curve parameters, the effects of birth year-season were significant for mature weight(A), growth ratio(b) and maturing rate(k)(P〈.01). The effects of age of dam were significant for growth ratio(b) but not significant for mature weight(A) and maturing rate(k). The linear term of the covariate of age at the final weights was significant for the A(P〈.01) and k(P〈.01) of Gompertz model, von Bertalanffy model and Logistic model. For the growth curve parameters fitted on individual data using Gompertz model, von Bertalanffy model and Logistic model, resulting the linear contrasts(fall-spring), Least square means of A in three nonlinear models were higher cows born at fall and A of Logistic model was significant(P〈.05) between the seasons. According to the results of the least square means of growth curve parameters by age of dam, least square means of mature weight(A) in Gompertz model was largest in 6 year and smallest estimating for 3 and 8 years of age of dam. The growth ratio(b) was largest in 2 year of age of dam and smallest estimating in 8 year. The A and k were not different by age of dam(p〉.05), On the other hand, the b was different by age of dam(p〈.01). The estimate of A in von Bertalanffy model was largest in 6 year and smallest in 8 and 9 years of age of dam. The b was largest in 2 year and tend to decline as age of dam increased. The A and k were not different by age of dam(p〉.05), On the other hand, the b was highly significant by age of dam(p〈.01).
In order to ensure the structural integrity of nuclear welded structures during design life, the fatigue life has to be evaluated by fatigue analysis procedures presented in technical codes such as ASME B&PV Code Section III. However, existing fatigue analysis procedures do not explicitly consider the presence of welded joints. A new fatigue analysis procedure based on a structural stress/fracture mechanics approach has been recently developed in order to reduce conservatism by erasing uncertainty in the analysis procedure. A recent review of fatigue crack growth data under various mean loading conditions using the structural stress/fracture mechanics approach, does not consider the mean loading effect, revealed some significant discrepancies in fatigue crack growth curves according to the mean loading conditions. In this paper, we propose the use of the stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K$ characterized with loading ratio R effects in terms of the structural stress. We demonstrate the effectiveness in characterizing fatigue crack growth and S-N behavior using the well-known data. It was identified that the S-N data under high mean loading could be consolidated in a master S-N curve for welded joints.
Background: Mitigation of primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC) is a significant issue in the nuclear industry. Advanced nickel-based alloys with lower susceptibility have been adopted, although they do not seem to be entirely immune from PWSCC during normal operation. With regard to structural integrity assessments of the relevant components, an accurate evaluation of crack growth rate (CGR) is important. Methods: For the present study, the extended finite element method was adopted from among diverse meshless methods because of its advantages in arbitrary crack analysis. A user-subroutine based on the strain rate damage model was developed and incorporated into the crack growth evaluation. Results: The proposed method was verified by using the well-known Alloy 600 material with a reference CGR curve. The analyzed CGR curve of the alternative Alloy 690 material was then newly estimated by applying the proven method over a practical range of stress intensity factors. Conclusion: Reliable CGR curves were obtained without complex environmental facilities or a high degree of experimental effort. The proposed method may be used to assess the PWSCC resistance of nuclear components subjected to high residual stresses such as those resulting from dissimilar metal welding parts.
Finite element simulations were conducted to investigate the influence of grain growth in the superplastic blow forming process. A microstructure-based constitutive model considering grain growth effects is proposed and used in the simulations. Also, a grain growth rate equation accounting for both static and dynamic grain growth is implemented. The simulations were made using a 2D plane-strain model for constrained blow forming and an axisymmetric model for free bulging. These two models showed different features during the forming stages. However, the forming pressure-time curve and the thickness distribution obtained by both simulations explained well the deformation hardening induced by the grain growth during superplastic forming. This study shows that grain growth is an important factor in determining the material behavior during superplastic deformation.
Samples of Corbicula japonica Prime of Jujin estuary in Gochang were collected from July 2000 to September 2001. Age of C. japonica was determined from the rings on the shell. The relationship between shell length and ring radius in each ring group was expressed as a regression line. Therefore, there is a correspondence in each ring formation. Based on the monthly variation of the marginal index (MI') of the shell, it is assumed that the ring of this species was formed once a year during the period of February and March. The relationship between shell length (SL; mm) and total weight (TW; g) was expressed by the following equation: TW = 1.0942 ${\times}10^{-4}SL^{3.3217}$ ($r^2$ = 0.9905). Shell length (SL) and shell height (SH; mm) was highly correlated with shell height as the following equation: SH = 0.9174 SL - 0.9935 ($r^2$ = 0.9885). The shell length (SL) - shell width (SW) relation was also expressed by the following equation; SW = 0.5925 SL - 1.1706 ($r^2$ = 0.9726). Growth curves for shell length and total weight fitted to the von Bertalanffy's growth curve were expressed as: $$SL_t = 46.4861[1-e^{-0.3383(t+0.0958)}]$$, $$TW_t = 34.54[1-e^{-0.3383(t+0.0958)}]^3.3217$$.

The learning curve has an important effect the growth of corporation. But, in Korea, the study and inference on the learning rate of each industry are unprepared, and so, Korean industires have difficult in productivity and cost. At this point, this study infers the learning rate of the oil industries and investigates the productivity and growth of them. In conclusion, this study presents the direction of the oil industries' development. With the intention of this objects, this study seizes the status which is concerned the total quantity, the operating rate, the plant capacity, the indicators concerning productivity, the investment of R & D and the scales, and then, infers and verifies the relevancy in connection with the learning rate. In the oil industry, the average rate of learning is 65.96% from 1982 to 1994 which the total quantity and the average operation time are used to infer the rate. To observe the low rate within a same period of time, this study takes the consequences that the learning rate is almost indentical with them each year. This steady state is caused by a difference between the employee and the decision maker about the acquirement and assimiliated of technology. When the high-quality technologies posses the environment to applicate in the scene of labor with them, this technology applies to the productivities. As the learning rate increases, the productivity has more effectiveness. The result of analysis about the effectiveness of the learning rate follows that the R & D unfoldes to exist and does not contribute to the growth of the oil industry. To analyze the variables of the growth, such as the learning rate, the investement of R & D, the operating rate and the gross value added to property, plant and equipment, the model is established and examined. The business strategy in the oil industry must be developed to achive the internal growth as well as the external.
