  • Effect of an accelerated iso-thermal aging (375 degree C x 66days, 375 degree C x 200days) on elastic-plastic fracture resistance curve were examined in SA533B low alloy steel. Fracture toughness test are conducted by unloading compliance method at room temperature. But the apparent negative crack growth phenomenon, usually arise in partial unloading compliance test. The phenomenon of negative crack growth may be eliminated by the offset technique. There is no effect of aging on J sub(IC) and dJ/da in iso-thermal aged (375 degree C x 66 days) specimen, but there is very little effect in iso-thermal aged (375 degree C x 200 days) specimen.

  • As technologies' life-cycle shortens and their development directions are uncertain, firms' technology planning capability becomes increasingly important. Prior patent-based studies using technology growth curves identify developmental stages of technologies, thereby formulating technology development directions from an overall perspective. However, a technology generally consists of multiple sub-technologies and accordingly their development stages are likely various. In this regard, the prior studies failed to identify core sub-technologies and their specific development directions. Therefore, we suggest an approach consisting of 1) identifying core sub-technologies of a given technology using patent co-classifications and social network analysis, and 2) identifying each sub-technology's development stage and thereby determining its further development direction. We apply our approach to patents related to augmented reality to examine its applicability. It is expected that our approach will help identify evolving development stages for the core sub-technologies of a given technology, thereby effectively assisting technology experts in technology planning processes.

  • 기상 결정 성장법을 이용하여 twin, grain free인 (100) ZnSe 결정을 성장하였다. (100) ZnSe 결정내의 결함은 X-ray Rocking Curve에 의해 분석하였으며, seed의 질과 성장 속도가 ZnSe 결정의 결함에 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 성장된 (100) ZnSe 결정의 형태는 seed의 모양과 로내의 등온 곡선 및 면들의 성장속도에 의존하였다.

  • The present paper considers the constraint effect on J-R curves under the two-parameter $J-A_2$ controlled crack growth within a certain amount of crack extension. Since the parameter $A_2$ in $J-A_2$ three-term solution is independent of applied loading under fully plasticity or large-scale defor-mation $A_2$ is a proper constraint parameter uring crack extension. Both J and $A_2$ are used to char-acterize the resistance curves of ductile crack growth using J as the loading level and $A_2$ are used to char-acterize the resistance curves of ductile crack growth using J as the loading level and A2 as a con-straint parameter. Approach of the constraint-corrected J-R curve is proposed and a procedure of transferring the J-R curves determined from standard ASTM procedure to non-standard speci-mens or real cracked structures is outlined. The test data(e.g. initiation toughness JIC and tearing modulus $T_R$) of Joyce and Link(Engineer-ing Fracture Mechanics 1997, 57(4) : 431-446) for single-edge notched bend[SENB] specimen with from shallow to deep cracks is employed to demonstrate the efficiency of the present approach. The variation of $J_{IC}$ and $T_R$ with the constraint parameter $A_2$ is obtained and a con-straint-corrected J-R curves is constructed for the test material of HY80 steel. Comparisons show that the predicted J-R curves can very well match with the experimental data for both deep and shallow cracked specimens over a reasonably large amount of crack extension. Finally the present constraint-corrected J-R curve is used to predict the crack growth resistance curves for different fracture specimens. over a reasonably large amount of crack extension.   • This paper proposes a software-reliability growth model incoporating the amount of testing effort expended during the software testing phase after developing it. The time-dependent behavior of testing effort expenditures is described by a Logistic curve. Assuming that the error detection rate to the amount of testing effort spent during the testing phase is proportional to the current error content, a software-reliability growth model is formulated by a nonhomogeneous Poisson process. Using this model the method of data analysis for software reliability measurement is developed. After defining a software reliability, This paper discusses the relations between testing time and reliability and between duration following failure fixing and reliability are studied. SRGM in several literatures has used the exponential curve, Railleigh curve or Weibull curve as an amount of testing effort during software testing phase. However, it might not be appropriate to represent the consumption curve for testing effort by one of already proposed curves in some software development environments. Therefore, this paper shows that a logistic testing-effort function can be adequately expressed as a software development/testing effort curve and that it gives a good predictive capability based on real failure data.

한우 거세우의 체중 및 체형에 대한 성장곡선 모수 추정 (Estimation of Growth Curve Parameters for Body Weight and Measurements in Castrated Hanwoo (Bostaurus Coreanae))

  • 본 연구는 한우의 체형과 체중이 일령에 따라 어떻게 변화하며, 선발형질인 도체형질과의 상관 또한 체중 및 체형의 변화에 따라 어떠한 형태로 변화하는지 알아보기 위하여 실시하였다. 분석에 이용한 형질은 체중, 체형 및 도체형질을 포함하여 모두 17가지 형질이며 거세우 161두의 자료를 이용하였다. 성장곡선 추정은 logistic 모형을 이용하였고, 추정한 모수를 토대로 변곡일령 및 변곡일령에서의 특성을 다시 계산하였다. 각 형질에 대한 성장곡선 모수를 분석한 결과 좌골폭은 조숙성, 흉위는 만숙성 형질인 것으로 나타났다. 등지방두께에 대한 흉심, 흉폭 및 요각폭의 순위상관계수는 6~24개월까지 꾸준히 증가하는 반면 다른 체형형질들은 18개월령 이후에 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 표현형 자료에 대한 분석만이 이뤄졌으나, 한우 성장 단계에 따른 유전적 변화를 살펴보기 위해 유전모수 추정과 같은 추가적인 연구가 이뤄진다면 체형형질을 한우개량에 충분히 이용이 가능할 것으로 생각된다.

Estimation of Growth Curve Parameters for Body Weight and Length in Miniature Pigs

  • This study was conducted to estimate the growth curve parameters for the body weight (BW) and body length (BL) of miniature pigs in Korea. Growth curve parameters were estimated through a nonlinear regression model using Gompertz, Logistic, and von Bertalanffy methods. A total of 25 piglets were measured monthly from birth up to 15 months of age to estimate both body weight and length. Results showed that the estimated average values for the body weight (body length) were 31.83 kg (58.77 cm) for the mature weight (A), 3.06 (1.74) for the growth ratio (${\beta}$), and 0.28 (0.52) for the maturing rate (${\kappa}$). Average inflection points showing maximum growth rate estimated each month for body weight were 3.97 kg and 11.70 cm, while for the body length were 1.06 kg and 21.61 cm. Moreover, the estimated maturation rates of the body weight and length for the group of Sire 1 were 0.22 and 0.40 respectively, whereas for the group of Sire 2 these values were 0.34 and 0.39. On the other hand, for the groups of Dam 1, Dam 2, and Dam 3, maturation rates for their body weights were 0.26, 0.28 and 0.33 respectively, while for their body lengths these values were 0.43, 0.37, and 0.38, respectively. The study also indicated a negative relationship between the values of mature weight and maturity rate for the body weight will result to a higher inflection point which is in contrast for the body length where results show that a positive relationship between the values of mature length and the maturity rate will result to a higher inflection point. Furthermore, the growth performance of miniature pig varies across stages but using these estimated growth curve parameters could improve the genetic traits of miniature pig.

Long-term Sulfur Emissions and Environmental Kuznets Curves: Comparison and Implications

  • The environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis assumes an inverted U-shaped relationship between environmental damage and income, and such curves have been used to study how economic growth affects the environment. In this study, we analyzed data for gross domestic product (GDP) per capita and for sulfur emissions in the industrialized countries of the United Kingdom, United States of America, and Japan, as well as data for the developing country of China, to determine the relationship between emissions and income in these countries. Attempts by these countries' governments to incorporate environmental policy considerations into the income-environment relationship were also examined. The potential role of the environmental Kuznets curve as a policy tool was investigated. We determined that, at least in the case of sulfur emissions, policies and institutions significantly reduced environmental degradation in the industrialized countries studied. Furthermore, the environmental Kuznets curve can reliably predict the future relationship between environmental impact and GDP for developing countries.

Enhancement of Carbon Dioxide Fixation by Alteration of Illumination during Chlorella Vulgaris-Buitenzorg's Growth

  • Alteration of illumination with optimum carbon dioxide fixation-based curve in this research successfully enhanced the $CO_{2}-fixation\;(q_CO_{2}$ capability of Chlorella vulgaris Buitenzorg cultivated in a bubble column photo bioreactor. The level of $CO_{2}$ fixation was up to 1.91 times that observed from cultivation with intensification of illumination on an optimum growth-based curve. During 144 h of cultivation, alteration of light intensity on an optimum $CO_{2}-fixation-based$ curve produced a $q_CO_{2}$ of $12.8\;h^{-1}$. Meanwhile, alteration of light intensity with a growth-based curve only produced a $q_CO_{2}$ of $6.68\;h^{-1}$. Increases in light intensity based on a curve of optimum $CO_{2}-fixation$ produced a final cell concentration of about 5.78 g/L. Both cultivation methods were carried out under ambient pressure at a temperature of $29^{\circ}C$ with a superficial gas velocity of $2.4\;m/h(U_{G}$. Cells were grown on Beneck medium in a 1.0 L Bubble Column Photo bioreactor illuminated by a Phillips Halogen Lamp (20 W/12 V/50 Hz). The inlet gas had a carbon dioxide content of 10%.
