중소기업의 산업환경, 기술협력 및 성과간의 구조적 관계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Structural Relationship among Industrial Environment, Technological Cooperation and Performance of Small and Medium-sized Firms)

  • This study was aimed at analyzing the structural relationship among such factors as industrial environment, technological cooperation, technological innovation performance and management performance that are essential to technological innovation of small and medium-sized companies. For this aim, an analysis was conducted to determine which of the factors in industrial environment has impact on technological cooperation of small and medium-sized companies. An empirical analysis was also performance to find what kind of effects the technological cooperation may have on technological innovation and management performance. From the analyses, it became known that: first, changes in industrial environment have influence on technical cooperation factors including production technology, technical information, technical manpower and fund for technology that are assorted by means of factorial analysis; second, the technological cooperation of small and medium-sized companies has impact on their technological innovation performance; and third, the technological cooperation of small and medium-sized companies has impact on management performance.

기술혁신지향성: 개념화, 측정 및 성과와의 관계 (Technological Innovation Orientation: Conceptualization, Measurement, and Its Relationship to Performance)

  • 기술혁신지향성의 개념이 이론적으로나 실무적으로 중요한 가치를 지니고 있음에도 불구하고, 기존의 연구에서는 기술혁신지향성에 관한 개념이 제대로 정립되어있지 않고 또한 이에 대한 적합한 변수측정이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 그러한 기술혁신지향성에 대한 기존 연구의 결함을 인지하여, 본 연구에서는 기술혁신지향성의 개념을 정립하고 그 정립된 개념을 적합하게 포착하는 새로운 측정도구를 제시하였다. 보다 구체적으로, 본 연구에서는 기술혁신지향성을 기술선도 지향성(proclivity to technological leadership)과 기술혁신 개방성(openness to technological innovation)의 두 요인으로 구성된 것으로 개념화하고 그 두 요인으로 구성된 기술혁신지향성의 개념을 변수조작화하기 위한 새로운 측정도구를 제시하였다. 본 연구에서는 새로이 제시된 기술혁신지향성의 측정도구의 신뢰성과 타당성을 검증하였고 또한 그러한 기술혁신지향성의 측정치를 기반으로 기술혁신지향성과 기업성과 사이의 관계를 실증 분석하였다. 97개의 국내 IT중소기업을 대상으로 분석한 결과, 제안된 기술혁신 지향성의 측정도구는 높은 신뢰성과 타당성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 분석 결과 기술혁신지향성이 기업의 기술혁신성과와 긍정적인 관계를 갖고 기술혁신성과가 기술혁신지향성과 재무성과 사이의 관계를 매개하는 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.

섬유의류업체의 기술협력과 기술혁신이 기업성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Technological Collaboration and Innovation on Company Performance of Textile and Clothing Companies)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the level of technological collaboration and technological innovation, and to analyze the effects of these variables on performance of textile and clothing companies. The data were collected from participants of Preview in Daegu Exhibition and Seoul Fashion Sourcing Fair as well as a panel on the Research Institute. The results showed that the numbers of technological collaboration and technological innovation were relatively low but the level of technological collaboration was slightly high. The regression analyses indicated that technological collaboration had a significant effect but technological innovation didn't have a significant effect on company performance. However, these two variables had significant effects on innovation performance.

중소기업의 사업영역과 기술역량이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (Business Scope, Technological Capability and Performance)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of business scope and technological capability on firm performance in SMEs. Existing studies on business scopes and technological capabilities have focused on the unilateral relationships with financial performances. This study examines the independent and interaction effects of business scopes and technological capabilities on financial performances of SMEs in capital industries. Based on 228 firm-level data, technological capabilities have positively significant impacts on performance. Business scope measured by product variety and number of buyers have been significantly positive relationships to financial performances. Also SMEs with technological capabilities can moderate the effects of business scope on their performances. However, the results show different relationships depending on measurements on business scope, technological capabilities and performance. The results provide interesting findings on strategic behaviors of SMEs when they pursue growth strategy through expanding business scopes and building technological capabilities.

중소기업의 기술역량과 학습역량이 국제화 성과에 미치는 영향: 혁신성과의 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Effects of Technological and Learning Capability of SMEs on the International Performance: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Innovative Performance)

  • While many previous studies have emphasized that technological and learning capabilities have an important impact on internationalization, however, there have been few attempts to directly identify the mediating role of innovative performance in the relationship between them. Therefore, we tested the relationships among two organizational capabilities such as technological capability and learning capability, innovative performance and internationalization. Specifically, we explored the impact of two organizational capabilities on innovative performance and the mediating role of innovative performance on internationalization. We tested hypotheses based on 206 survey data of Gwangju and Jeonnam provinces' small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The empirical results showed that both technological capability and learning capability had a significantly positive (+) effect on SMEs' innovation performance, and both technological capability and learning capability had a significantly positive (+) effect on internationalization performance. In addition, it was confirmed that the innovation performance is not only related to the relationship between technological capability and internationalization performance but also acts as a partial mediation role in the relationship between the learning capability and internationalization performance. Based on the results of this study, theoretical and practical implications were provided, and the limitations of this study and future research directions were also discussed.

제조기업의 기술혁신활동과 영향요인의 구조적 관계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Structural Relations between Technological Innovation Activities of Manufacturers and Factors of Their Effects)

  • It seems required to determine what might affect the technological innovation activities of manufacturing companies and what kind of role they could play for them to carry out technological innovation activities in an effective way. The objective of the present study is thus to conduct a depth empirical analysis of the structural relations among business environment, technological innovation activities and performance of manufacturing companies. From the analysis, following outcomes could be drawn: First, with regard to the relationship between business environment and technological innovation activities of manufacturing companies, it has become clear that the external environment is a factor that can influence technological innovation activities such as management of technical property, technological innovation system as well as technical network, while it exercises no impact upon adaptation of manufacturers to new technologies. The internal environment, on the other hand, turns out to have influence on such overall factors of technological innovation activities as management of technical property, technological innovation system, adaptation to new technologies and technical network; and Second, as for the relationship between technological innovation activities and their performance, it has been obvious that management of technical property and technological innovation system, both factors of technological innovation activities, affect the performance of product development and financial achievements of manufacturing companies. Their adaptation to new technologies will also affect their performance of product development as well as financial achievements. These findings suggest that it is important for manufacturing companies to set up an operating system that may be able to upgrade the practical applicability of their technological development activities in an attempt to promote performance of their technological innovation activities.

R&D 전략의 형태가 기업 재무성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Forms of R&D Strategy on Corporate Financial Performance)

  • In Schumpeterian competition, superior profit arises from successful innovation created by firm's R&D strategy. Such R&D strategy diverges as time passes. This study examines empirically the effects of diverged forms of R&D strategy such as technological assets, technological diversity, and technological similarity on firm performance in Korean pharmaceutical industry. With the financial and patent data of 96 firms for 14 years from 1994 to 2007, we measured variables. And then we performed panel analysis with 3 years lag between dependent variable and other variables. The result shows that firm performance increases as technological asset and technological diversification increase. But technological similarity positively affects on firm performance in opposition to our hypothesis. We interpret and discuss these results and highlight the theoretical and practical implications of our findings.

기업의 기술혁신 활동이 혁신성과에 미치는 영향연구: 혁신저항의 매개적 효과를 중심으로 (A Study on Effect of Technological Innovation Activities on Innovation Performance in Firms: Focused on the Moderating Effect of Innovation Resistance and Performance)

  • 본 연구는 그동안 기술혁신 활동이 자체 기업 또는 조직, 인적 구성원의 역량과 활동 방법에 따라 다름에도 불구하고 이의 실행에 대한 혁신저항을 적극 고려하지 않았던 기존 연구의 한계를 보완하여 기업의 기술혁신 역량과 활동이 조직 내 혁신저항과 성과에 미치는 영향력이 어느 정도 차이가 있는지 이를 밝히는데 목적을 갖고 국내 IT, BT기업 293개사를 대상으로 실증 조사하였다. 그 결과를 보면 첫째, 가설1의 기업의 기술혁신 역량이 기술혁신 저항에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳐 채택되었다. 둘째, 가설2의 기술혁신 활동은 기술혁신 저항에 긍정적인 영향을 미치지 않아 기각되었다. 셋째, 기술혁신 저항은 기술혁신 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳐 채택되었다. 넷째, 기술혁신 저항은 기술혁신 역량과 기술혁신 성과 사이에 매개 효과는 긍정적인 영향을 미쳐 채택되었다. 다섯째, 기술혁신 저항은 기술혁신 활동과 기술혁신 성과 사이에 매개효과는 긍정적인 영향을 미치지 않아 기각되었다. 전체적으로 기술혁신 역량이 높을수록 기술혁신 저항에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 상관성을 갖고 기술혁신 저항 또한 저항 정도에 따라 기술혁신 역량과 성과를 증진 또는 저하시킬 수 있음을 시사해 주었다.

제조기업의 시장지향성과 기술지향성이 흡수능력 및 제품개발성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Market and Technological Orientation of Manufacturing Companies upon Absorptive Capacities and Product Development Performance)

  • The present study is aimed at examining in multilateral ways the structural relationship among technological orientation, market orientation and product development performance of manufacturing companies, which are deemed to be key factors for them to increase absorptive capacities. From the study, it was revealed that: First, in terms of the relationship between market orientation and absorptive capacities, it was made clear by the analysis that the market orientation sought after by manufacturing companies has influence upon their absorptive capacities. Second, with regard to the relationship between technological orientation and absorptive capacities of manufacturing companies, the analysis found that the technological orientation pursued by them affects their absorptive capacities. Third, as for the relationship between absorptive capacities and product development performance, the analysis made it clear that the absorptive capacities of manufacturing companies exerts influence upon their product development performance. Fourth, in respect to the relationship between market orientation and product development performance, it was concluded from the analysis that market orientation produces effect upon product development performances like technological innovation and acquisition of new technologies needed for product development. Finally, regarding the relationship between technological orientation and product development performance of manufacturing companies, it became obvious from the analysis that the technological orientation affects the product development performance.

The Effects of Technological Capabilities and Entrepreneurship on Technological Innovation of Technology-based Start-ups in Korea

  • This paper analyses how technological capabilities and entrepreneurship of technology-based start-ups affect their performance. In this paper, a multiple regression analysis was conducted on 248 technology-based start-ups. The effects of indicators of technological capacity like R&D intensity, R&D organization, technology competitiveness, patents, and certification were analyzed. Factors affecting sales were R&D intensity and technological competitiveness. Technology competitiveness and patents were the significant factors influencing product competitiveness. The factor that positively influenced organizational performance, customer performance, and achievement of start-up goals was technological competitiveness. The results of such an analysis should be designed to discover and foster long-term innovation potential, rather than relying on short-term financial performance.
