In Korea, based on the Revised Law of Occupational Safety and Health a new entity of institution was set up in 1990 to provide occupational health services to SSE in which three sorts of personnel as a team have to be involved. These institutions, in charge of scores to hundreds of workplace area-wide, have been providing occupational health services without payment from employers or employees, and government reimburses through the Occupational Injury Prevention Insurance since 1993. As a service provider, a team is composed of doctors, nurses and industrial hygienists. Undergraduate and postgraduate educations for the SSE occupational health are not specified and the question on the performance of the personnel has been raised. This study was designed to analyze the facilitating factors of and barriers to the performance and its improvement of these personnel. In 1997, the survey was conducted with all 58 institutions. Structured questionnaires were mailed to 200 personnel who were providing the occupational health service for SSE. The response rate was 51.7% for doctors, 58.6% for nurses, and 60.3% for industrial hygienist, respectively. Results are as follows : 1) There is a guideline for occupational service mandated by the government. Under the guideline, the minimum frequency of visiting workplace is assured with six times of doctors, 17 times for nurse and industrial hygienist in a year. There are one doctor for every 200 factories, one nurse and one hygienist for every 100 factories. 2) All respondents have basic qualification for occupational health service. About 16.7%. of doctors are certified in industrial medicine or preventive medicine, and 64.7% of industrial hygienists had first grade certification. Totally 66.7% of personnel have been involved in occupational health for more than one year. 3) As a support system for the performance improvement, 66.3% respond that they have been provided with educational materials, advice related to industrial environment and guidance of MSDS from Korea Industrial Safety Corporation. Most respondents indicate the lack of concern of employers and employees as a main barrier to the improvement of the service. Also they are in the need of the training opportunity more focused on SSE. The Governments policy for SSE is a principal facilitating factor. Training program focused on SSE situation, manpower, technical support, etc. are areas to be improved to have a better occupational health service for SSE in Korea.

A lot of research on the stability of nonpremixed flames has focused on the fuel-nozzle and quarl geometries. Of the work carried out, only a small amount has focused on the stability of the nonpremixed flame according to the recession distance and air-nozzle geometry. Therefore, in this study, a coaxial-diffusion-type gas burner with a swirler is designed for the systematic investigation of the combustion characteristics of a $CH_4$ flame depending on the recession distance and secondary air-nozzle geometry. 1st air is flowed through the swirler, and 2nd air is flowed through each nozzle. It is shown that the secondary air velocity greatly influences the flame length and shape. There is an optimum recession distance for each nozzle for the best combustion efficiency. In this study, it is shown that the optimized recession distance is nearly half the outer diameter of the air-supply nozzle.

In this work, a reduced size 20W quasi class-E Power Amplifier(PA) with defected ground structure load-network is presented for WCDMA base station application. Harmonic impedances required for the class E operation are satisfied by applying the dumbbell and the asymmetric spiral DGS. Open impedance for 2nd harmonic frequency which has the highest power and nearly short impedances for other higher order harmonics are provided by the proposed DGS load-network. The maximum Power Added Efficiency(PAE) of 70.2 % at the output power of 43.1 dBm with the saturated power gain of 12.7 dB is achieved by the proposed quasi class-E PA, which is comparable to the performance of the reference class-E PA. Total size of the proposed class-E PA is only $50{\times}50\;mm^2$ and much smaller than the conventional class-E PA that is loaded with a number of open stubs.
This study is a methodological approach to the study of a customer experience-based Tuberculosis(TB) management service design for a local public medical institution, with the application of the service design process by the Design Council in the UK. This study designed a TB management service for a local public medical institution using the service design method which identifies and resolves TB management-related problems based on experiences of medical personnel of TB facilities as well as of TB patients. To design a TB management service for the whole process from hospitalization to discharge and then to cooperation with local communities, a team was formed with 12 TB management-related personnel. The team went through the four phases of service design process: Discover, Define, Develop and Deliver. In addition, the TB management service based on customer experience was developed that included eight services related to processes from hospitalization to discharge and cooperation with local communities. According to the study results, a service design methodology was found to be considerably effective in developing a service program that takes into account an overall circumstance of various relevant personnel as well as patients. It is suggested that further studies use a service design methodology in developing various health management service programs in need of improvement of work efficiency among relevant personnel as well as providing the best satisfaction for customers by identifying hidden needs based on their experiences.
The Department of Fine Art requested the conservation science team to examine the technique of painting with gold powder on the gold painted porcelains, which were made in Korea and China, among the items possessed by National Museum of Korea in order to publish it in the research paper collection of the Exchange Exhibition of Korea and China Porcelains. Among the items possessed by National Museum of Korea, such items were included as, an item of Koryo inlaid celadon (No. Gaesung 106), called the celadon with inlaid work (Korean name: Cheongjasanggam suhawonmun geumchaepyunho), which was decorated in the layer of glaze using gold power, an items of tea cup called "Temmku da wan" (No. Bongwan 10011), which was manufactured in the time of Song dynasty of Chinese history, an items of gold cup called "Siyuchohwamun hwageumwan" (No. Bongwan 2027), and an items of a porcelain called "Siyuwan" (No. Duksoo 3322). As the result of the examination, the stabilizing method of baking the decorated porcelains is similar, after they are painted with the pigment mixed with fine gold powder and the glaze solvent, but the treatment method of the colors is a little different among them. In other words, there is a big difference between them, for example, in the case of Koryo celadon, because the gold coloring was painted carefully one by one on the splendid decorations of inlaid works, while in the case of Chinese porcelains, butterflies or arabesque designs are decorated on the layer of the glaze in the porcelains of no decoration, using the stencil skill. According to the result of this examination, the part of the porcelain, whose layer of gold color was peeled off, could be restored, and as the result of the restoration, it was confirmed how beautiful and splendid the gold porcelain had been at the time of being manufactured.
Human activities greatly affect the environment causing its degradation. Urban development and road networks construction cause main impacts on ecosystems and particularly on vegetation cover: road constructions induce complete degradation of the vegetation cover and often leaves a hare land, sometimes without even a soil cover. Reconstitution of vegetation cover is necessary to limit superficial erosion and land slipping on the road, towards a reintegration of the site in the neighbouring landscape. Many approaches have been studied over the last 30 years aiming at this reconstitution of vegetation cover. At frost, the main purpose of land reclamation was to create a new ecosystem. At this time, the environment created was rather a "garden" with a new soil adapted to the plantation of "decorative" species. Then, in early 90′s many studies on the restoration ecology concept rather focused on adapting the vegetation to the existing conditions on the site, as in a side road embankment for example. Nowadays, we notice a large tendency towards the use of such adapted native species instead of industrially produced seeds. In southern France, our team have led research on the potentials of those local species for their use in revegetation processes with hydro-seeding. We therefore developed an approach combining the use of different types of species: Industrially produced, native and wild cultivated species. This method integrates the benefits of using available low costing seeds that are already used on large scale projects with better adapted species, issued form the cultivation of native species and seed production for their use on smaller scale and more costly but more effective results. The use of wild cultivated species seeds was developed in order to limit the cost and reduce harsh natural seed withdrawal in the natural environment In the case of the use of native species. Besides, the use of such seeds allowed a larger geographical scale of use than with local native seeds. In addition, our team began two years ago a research project in Lebanon aiming at the Introduction and development of the revegetation techniques in Lebanon. In fact, this country bared since 20 years the consequences of urban pressure on its environment especially by the development of quarries and road networks. Therefore, pioneer work is necessary to aim at the adaptation of these techniques to the local environment.
The present Common Structural Rules for double hull oil tanker is not included the residual strength, which is one of the functional requirements in design part of Goal-based new ship construction standards (GBS). The GBS will be enforced after July 1, 2016. The requirement related residual strength has the goal to build safe ship even if she has the specified damages due to marine accidents including collision and grounding. In order to assess the residual strength based on risk for structural damages according to GBS, tons of nonlinear FE analysis work taking into account various types of damage will be needed. The Smith's method, a kind of simplified method for the strength analysis is very useful for this purpose. In this paper, the residual strength assessments based on ultimate strength using Smith's method were carried out. The objected ship is VLCC with stranding damage in bottom structures. Also, the results were compared with that of nonlinear FE analysis using three cargo hold model.
This geographical study is to identify the reality of Nokdun island which was once settled and farmed by our ancestor, but currently the island is do facto under Russia's control. Various historical documents including old maps, current large scale maps and satellite images besides field work were used for full analysis. According to historical records, up until Chosun Dynasty, Nokdun island in the lower Tuman river was one of the frontier fortified base crossed the river for the northern defense as well as seasonal farming for the farmer of Kyounghung border area. Even though the island was unjustly lost to Russia by the Beijing Treaty in the late Chosun period, the whole area of Nokdun was occupied and farmed by sole Koreans until the deportation by Stalin was forcibly measured. In these days due to the change of Tumn river channel and new deposition by river it became very difficult to find the original shape of Nokdun island. However, through intensive field works based on historical records, the research team found out the existence of the old wet-dry fields, old rural farmhouse remnants, and small and medium size of millstones that are supporting the reality of the island. Especially, the team traced a mud fortress presumedly built in the early Chosun period. We believe it might allow to allocate the exact location of Nokdun island in near future.
The concern about hollow core PC slab has been increased to improve the workability during a construction of building by reducing self weight of structural members. In this manner, recently, TRS (Tripple Ribs Slab) was developed as a new type of half PC slab system. TRS member consists of the triple webs and the bottom flange prestressed by strands. The slab system is completed by casting of topping concrete on the TRS after filling styrofoam between the webs. This paper, presents a flexural experiment to investigate the flexural capacity of the TRS. Five full scale TRS members were made and tested under simple support condition to be failed by flexure and their strength was evaluated by code equations; the variables in the test are the depth and the presence of topping or raised spot formed when slip-forming. In addition, a nonlinear sectional analysis was performed for the specimens and the result was compared with the test results. From the study, it was found that the TRS has enough flexural strength and ductility to resist the design loads and its strength can be suitably predicted by using code equations. The raised spot did not affect the strength so that the spot need not to be removed by doing additional work. For the more accurate prediction of TRS's flexural behavior by using nonlinear sectional analysis, it is recommended to consider the concrete's brittle property due to slip-forming process in the modeling.

Treatment of shaving scrap, a chrome containing solid scrap generated by leather manufacturing process, has been so far depended on mainly incineration, soil landfill and ocean dumping, which give bad impact on environment and cause pollution. Shaving scrap generates from the mechanical work for controlling the final thickness of leather and its main components are collagen protein and pan of chromium compound. For the purpose of reusing this leather waste as resources, researches in connection with collagen fiber recovery, gelable protein recovery and liquid fertilizer is being speedily progressed. In the experiment, shaving scrap went through wet pulverizing treatment by physical and chemical methods. Then, making the leather sheet evenly, it is mixed with natural latex and every kind of binding materials in the container, and the mixtures were passed through experimental hydraulic press machine and applied to Fourdrinier machine respectively. Lastly, a test for fading out physical strength and properties of multiple-purpose of leather-like material was performed on a continuous leather sheet prepared by the experiment. In result, the physical strength and properties of leather-like material showed noticeable differences according to mixing ratio of binding materials, beating methods and the Ends of binding materials selected, and generally tear strength was the weakest property among others. Also, by the pilot scale experiment in sequence, it was possible to manufacture recycled goods made of soft and hard types of leather-like material with various performances.
