The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of the use of reading aloud as a way of teaching English reading in a formal college-level English reading classroom. The study tried to examine the effects of reading aloud on the development of English reading ability in terms of comprehension and speed and the students' perceptions of the use of reading aloud in an English reading classroom. The participants of the study were 36 third year students at a college. The results of the cloze test and reading speed test showed that reading aloud had a positive effect on the improvement of English reading ability. The students received higher scores in the cloze test after the course and read a text faster than before the course. The analysis of the course evaluation questionnaire indicated that the students in the study showed positive attitudes toward the use of reading aloud in an English reading classroom. Most of the students reported that reading aloud was an effective way of improving their English reading comprehension and speed. However, the students were not fully satisfied with the reading materials used in the study. The results of the present study indicated that reading aloud may be incorporated into a formal English reading classroom effectively.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of the SW-STEAM program by utilizing software supporting the creation of VR for elementary science class. Two classes of 5th grade were selected, and were engaged in different teaching and learning methods during 12 class hours. The experimental group which is consisted of 20 students participated in the SW-STEAM program by utilizing software supporting the creation of VR, the comparative group which comprised 19 students was thaught by using a traditional instruction. Teaching unit was 'the solar system and stars' in 5th grade science text book. The results of this study were as follows. The SW-STEAM program by utilizing software the creation of VR had a positive effect on elementary school students' creative problem solving ability, scientific interest, science achievement. Therefore, the SW-STEAM program by utilizing software supporting the creation of VR could be meaningful works to encourage students' creative problem solving ability, scientific interest, science achievement, and this study will help elementary teachers teach 'the solar system and stars' in 5th grade science text book more interesting.

In the existing curriculum of the Elementary computer Education emphasizes students' problem-solving ability and knowledge of informatics. However, current computer education focus on using application program. In order to raise students' problem-solving ability and logical thinking ability, it is necessary to learning about computer science education. Thereupon, this study applied unplugged learning method to the elementary student. To apply the play-based unplugged learning method to the area of information representation. As a result, unplugged learning method produced higher academic achievement than the lecture model. Also it was more positive in the affective area than the lecture model.

This study is to develop the methods of specifying teaching that can consider individual differences in middle school geometry education. The purpose of this study is to decide the variations causing individual differences and to find the proper learning methods considering the variations. Through literature review, this study made it clear that the matter of individual difference is just the matter of talent and examined what factors make up mathematical talents. On the basis of the result, five important variations and fourteen subordinate factors were determined. I researched into the learning methods that consider the determined subordinate factors using the 'congruence' unit of middle school textbooks and developed specific learning methods for each of the subordinate factors through specific congruence problem solving situations. This study can be summarized as follows : I researched the studies of mathematical ability conducted by several educators and psychologists. This research is divided into the early study and the developed study of mathematical ability. Through this study five specific variations were determined. And fourteen subordinate factors have been made from the determined variations. The specific learning methods based on individual differences was developed according to the fourteen subordinate factors on the basis of middle school textbooks of Korea, Gusev's textbook, problem books of Russia, and etc.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether using English newspapers as supplementary teaching materials for the present textbook could increase students' English reading ability, interest in class and their willingness to take an active part in activities. Schools in rural areas, compared to urban schools, did not have the appropriate resources to teach students effectively. Understanding the disadvantages of the students in rural areas, one idea was to use newspapers to inspire the students to reach outside their local community and incorporate new styles of English and cultural aspects into their lives. The participants were 2nd grade high school students in the rural area. The experimental group received reading lessons with the textbook and English newspapers. They were also encouraged to make their own portfolios. The control group received reading lessons with the textbook and other supplementary materials. Before and after the experiment, reading comprehension tests as well as the questionnaires of interest and self-directed learning were administered. The results of this study were as follows: First, students' English reading ability was significantly improved in the experimental class using English newspapers. Second, students' interest and self-directed learning were positively increased in the same class above.

The equations of figures given by rectangular coordinates are used to look into the properties of them, which are very restricted in examining them in the school mathematics. Therefore, it is quite natural to consider the figures in terms of parameters without restriction to coordinates and also, it is possible for the students to analyze them. Thus, the visualization of figures is important for students in mathematics education. In particular, the teaching-learning methods using computers make loose the difficulties of geometry education, and from the viewpoint that various abstract figures can be visualized and that can be obtained by means of this visualization the learning of figures can be accomplished through the direct experience or control. This study is intended to present concretely the aim and its utility to visualize figures represented as parameters with Mathematics. In this paper, we introduce a new teaching-learning method of figures represented by parameters using Mathematica so that the learners establish themselves their knowledge obtained through their search, investigation, supposition and they accomplish the positive transition to advanced learning. So the leasers extend their ability of sensuous intuition to their ability of logical reasoning through their logical intuition. Consequently they can develop the ability of thinking mathematically, so many natural phenomena and physical ones.

In this study, we develop the mathematical modeling teaching materials focused function units of mathematics textbooks and establish the appropriate teaching and learning model. Using mathematical modeling materials and developed instructional materials for teaching high school students is aimed to improve the academic achievement, mathematical attitude and fear. The problem of this study is as follows : First, between the groups using mathematical modeling and a traditional textbook teaching academic achievement groups showed that there is a difference? Second, between the groups using mathematical modeling and a traditional textbook teaching mathematics between groups showed that there is a difference of mathematical attitude and fear? Third, what are the lessons for the students' responses using mathematical modeling?

The purpose of this study is to propose an effective development of teacher librarians' practice teaching and to identify how much teacher librarians' practice teaching affects their expertise in Korea. For this, two research models are constructed. The first model is to analyze the relationship of variables between the effect of practice teaching and the following variables: pretraining, practice program, advisory teacher, training condition and organizational atmosphere. The second model is to analyze how much the practice teaching affects their role perception and expertise compared with training courses and field experiences. The result is as follow: It is the training program that greatly affects teacher librarians' practice teaching among those variables. And the practice teaching has a positive effect on the ability of role performance. According to the above result, the practice teaching is effective in developing teacher librarians' expertise. And more systematic practice teaching program, enough pretraining and the efforts of advisory teacher are necessary to enhance the effect of teacher librarians' practice teaching.

This is a work-in progress paper which the researcher is working with an English teacher in Waseda University in Japan. We started the same project in the year of 2001. This is a replication of the previous paper about the exchange project with Waseda University students. The exchange program with Waseda University students encouraged Howon University students in various ways. In this paper, the researcher also tried to show how to use authentic materials from the internet, TV, magazines and other resources of mass media. Using those materials were helpful to the students to improve their English ability. The result of this study will give positive impact to further studies.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of educational evaluation with the application of flipped learning on undergraduate students' self-directed learning ability (cognitive domains, motive domains, conductive domains) and cognitive learning competency (knowledge and thought, creation, problem solving). An educational evaluation class, which applied flipped learning designed on the basis of pre-class, in-class, and post-class, was taught to 57 undergraduate students for twelve of the sixteen weeks of a semester. It was held each week on Thursdays for two (Ed- I don't understand 'for two'). The study results showed that, applying the flipped learning educational education class for undergraduate students improved self-directed learning ability (motivation domains, behavior domains) and cognitive learning competence (higher order thinking, metacognition, creativity tendency, problem-solving process). This study provides meaningful suggestions on exploring instructional design and effective teaching and learning methods applied to flipped learning.
