  • Purpose: This study investigated how consumption values influence consumers' purchasing decisions regarding environmentally friendly products. Based on the Consumption Values Theory, six dimensions of consumption values were defined: functional value-quality, functional value-price, emotional value, social value, conditional value, and epistemic value. In particular, the current study analyzed the differential impact of the environmentally friendly consumption values between two consumer groups - users and nonusers. By doing so, more effective marketing strategies can be applied to the target groups. Research design, data, and methodology: The online survey was conducted through Macromill Embrain in Korea to collect data from users vs. nonusers of environmentally friendly products. There were 215 usable responses in the users sample and 225 responses in the nonusers sample. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed by using AMOS 18.0. Results: The results revealed that four dimensions of consumption values, i.e., functional value-price, emotional value, conditional value, and epistemic value, positively influenced the users, while functional value-price and epistemic value positively influenced purchase intention toward environmentally friendly products among the nonusers. Conclusions: These results have important implications for applying effective marketing strategies for target consumers. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.

  • As the existing paradigm of consumption has changed, companies have been actively engaged in targeting culture-oriented emotion, creating added values through appealing to customers' emotion and improving the values of culture and art. Each company has created differentiated space and inner space to lead trends, and has provided space for various experiences as an innovative marketing area to attract customers and promote consumption. In this aspect, we should focus on space marketing which considers cultural background or emotion as a main target Therefore, this study selected a cultural program as a strategic means to identify space marketing in terms of experience. It is found that simple exposure to banner ads does not change people's initial brand-attitude and purchase intention, while voluntary exposure to target ads by clicking banner ads results in positive or negative brand attitude and purchase intention changes depending on the likability of the linked target ads from the banner ads. For methodology, this study employed a pretest posttest control group design and used online data collection technology called Cold Fusion. A total of 961 subjects participated in this research.

  • Established in 2006 as the forward integration effort by Taesung Industry, the major cosmetic packaging company, TONYMOLY has phenomenally grown to one of the major cosmetic brand companies in the submarket called, 'one brand-shop' of cosmetic market since 2008, after overcoming the crisis of 'going out of business' in a couple of early years. Within a relatively short period of time, TONYMOLY's performances have dramatically improved in terms of metrics such as growth in sales revenue, the number of stores, the average sales per store, transaction value per customer, the number of monthly transactions, the number of membership-based customers, and overseas sales. In this case study, we have examined TONYMOLY's recent marketing activities which may explain the plausible reasons behind the substantial growth of a small but smart cosmetic company. Above all, the first key success factor of TONYMOLY would be found in its adherence to the clear philosophy of the customer value proposition and/or the differentiated position of TONYMOLY as a brand of providing value. Second, this brand concept of value was first penetrated and welcomed among the foothold customer target group of mid and late teens with appropriate products, while the target groups were later expanded into the age group of twenties along with expansion of relevant products. Third, its differentiation efforts have been concrete and meaningful by utilizing unique ingredients in its product development and marketing efforts, unique fun packaging, and continuously introducing new hit-selling products as well as managing steady-selling products. Fourth, TONYMOLY has been smart enough to use its limited marketing money efficiently and effectively in its marketing communication activities. Viral marketing, PPL, and concentrated media planning and execution turned out to produce effective and efficient market-based performances such as awareness, word-of-mouth, and sales. Lastly, the marketing leadership of CEO and top management, emphasizing communications and interactions, was confirmed in the relationship quality with and trust level of its franchisees and internal employees. These key success factors may explain the recent phenomenal market performances of TONYMOLY. Despite recent successes, the major issues are presented for TONYMOLY to consider for maintaining its sustainable advantages and growth. The first issue concerns TONYMOLY's choice of growth philosophy between product/brand-centric marketing and customer-centric marketing. The second challenging issue relates to how TONYMOLY can cope with 'growing pains' plausibly accompanied with the rapid growth.

  • Many companies are operating and introducing the research results that corporate counseling contributes to corporate profits and improves the effective welfare of workers. This study was conducted targeting business management experts. As a research question, first, is there a difference in perception among business management experts about business counseling? Second, what is an important marketing 7P mix for revitalizing corporate counseling? Third, there will be differences in the importance of the 7P mix for marketing among business management experts. The results of the quantitative study are as follows. First, business management experts had a positive perception about the intention and necessity of corporate counseling, and marketing was higher than production management by field. The consultation model prefers an external model, and medium-sized enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises are selected as target companies, and service and manufacturing industries are selected as target industries. The topics are recognized as interpersonal relationships and job stress. Second, price mix, product mix, people mix, and process mix are recognized as important marketing mixes, but companies consider the price mix the most important. Third, there was a difference between corporate management experts in the promotion mix and process, and marketing recognized the promotion mix as important and the process mix was important for financial management. However, there is no difference in the mixes by field except for this, so it can be said that the perception of the marketing mix is similar. Through this study, it is meaningful to present the implications of the marketing mix for awareness and activation of corporate counseling from the corporate point of view.

  • In this study, we investigate the relative effectiveness of the two types of brand extensions (sequential extensions vs. direct extensions) in dissimilar extensions and examine the moderating role of two key variables - brand concept(functional brand vs. symbolic brand) and price of target extension product(low vs. high). The results from two experiments show that consumers evaluate the target extension product more favorably when brand is extended sequentially to dissimilar categories than when it is extended directly. However, the difference of target extension product evaluation between sequential extensions and direct extensions decrease when brand is symbolic and price of target extension product is high. Theoretical and managerial implications of the finding are discussed and inplications for future research are suggested.

Research design, data, and methodology - The investigation was based around a research methodology using quantitative analysis with appropriate statistical techniques on random surveys of consumers, detailed exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses are applied to assess the empirical validity of the model and multiple regression employed using R studio edition to validate the reliability of the developed models. Results - A new conceptual framework is proposed - the management institutions decision model, providing a tool for effective and more focused decision-making strategies for developing better utilization techniques for social media. Management institutions have different requirements based upon objectives and resources available. The evidence suggests that the administrators need to be more aware of consumer indicators when targeting and designing social media marketing strategy. Conclusions - The research was based on samples and not the entire population of target consumers, providing limitations. As an inferential statistical method was chosen, the results might be susceptible to inaccuracy. The model developed from different age users, thereby providing rich perspectives into social media usage pattern.

  • Recently, the influence of SNS and online media is rapidly growing with a consequent increase in the interest of marketing using these tools. Blog marketing can increase the ripple effect and information delivery in marketing at low cost by prioritizing keyword search results of influential portal sites. However, because of the tough competition to gain top ranking of search results of specific keywords, long-term and proactive efforts are needed. Therefore, we propose a new method that recommends associated keyword groups with the possibility of higher exposure of the blog. The proposed method first collects the documents of blog including search results of target keyword, and extracts and filters keyword with higher association considering the frequency and location information of the word. Next, each associated keyword is compared to target keyword, and then associated keyword group with the possibility of higher exposure is recommended considering the information such as their association, search amount of associated keyword per month, the number of blogs including in search result, and average writhing date of blogs. The experiment result shows that the proposed method recommends keyword group with higher association.

  • Recently, cause marketing is more focused as one of key brand positioning strategies, which in turn leads that more companies are interested in cause marketing. In this study, we focused on two different types of cause marketing, named as public-volunteered cause marketing and corporate-driven cause marketing. A field study using an actual brand explored the effect of cause marketing type and brand authenticity on purchase intention toward the target brand. Moreover, we examined the moderation and moderated mediation of brand awareness. As our results showed, the corporate-driven cause marketing had a positive impact both on brand authenticity and purchase intention in the low (vs. high) brand awareness condition. However, the effect of public-volunteered marketing on purchase intention and brand authenticity did not vary depending on brand awareness. To increase the effectiveness of the cause marketing, the results suggest that the public-volunteered cause marketing would be more effective than the corporate-driven cause marketing.
