Region of interest (ROI) is the most informative part of a medical image and mostly has been used as a major part of watermark. Various shapes ROIs selection have been reported in region-based watermarking techniques. In region-based watermarking schemes an image region of non-interest (RONI) is the second important part of the image and is used mostly for watermark encapsulation. In online healthcare systems the ROI wrong selection by missing some important portions of the image to be part of ROI can create problem at the destination. This paper discusses the complete medical image availability in original at destination using the whole image as a watermark for authentication, tamper localization and lossless recovery (WITALLOR). The WITALLOR watermarking scheme ensures the complete image security without of ROI selection at the source point as compared to the other region-based watermarking techniques. The complete image is compressed using the Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) lossless compression technique to get the watermark in reduced number of bits. Bits reduction occurs to a number that can be completely encapsulated into image. The watermark is randomly encapsulated at the least significant bits (LSBs) of the image without caring of the ROI and RONI to keep the image perceptual degradation negligible. After communication, the watermark is retrieved, decompressed and used for authentication of the whole image, tamper detection, localization and lossless recovery. WITALLOR scheme is capable of any number of tampers detection and recovery at any part of the image. The complete authentic image gives the opportunity to conduct an image based analysis of medical problem without restriction to a fixed ROI.
With the rapid development of computer technologies, a number of image modification methods have emerged, which have great impacts on the security of image information. Therefore, it is necessary to protect the integrity and authenticity of digital images, and digital watermarking technique consequently becomes a research hotspot. An effort is made to survey and analyze advancements of image watermarking algorithms based on singular value decomposition (SVD) in recent years. In the first part, an overview of watermarking techniques is presented and then mathematical theory of SVD is given. Besides, SVD watermarking model, features, and evaluation indexes are demonstrated. Various SVD-based watermarking algorithms, as well as hybrid watermarking algorithms based on SVD and other transforms for copyright protection, tamper detection, location, and recovery are reviewed in the last part.

Digital watermarking for digital image authentication and integrity schemes are based on fragile watermarking and can detect any modifications in a watermark embedded image by comparing the embedded watermark with the regenerated watermark. Therefore, the digital watermark for image authentication and integrity should be erased easily when the image is changed by digital image processing, such as scaling or filtering etc. This paper proposes an effective tamper detection scheme for digital images. In the proposed scheme, the original image was divided into many non-overlapping $2{\times}2$ blocks. The digital watermark was divided into two LSB of each block and the image distortion was imperceptible to the human eye. The watermark extraction process can be used to determine if the watermarked image has been tampered. The experimental results successfully revealed the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Digital watermarking is a technique used to hide information within digital media. Digital watermarking techniques can be classified as either robust watermarking or fragile watermarking. Robust watermarking techniques are generally used for the purpose of copyright protection. In addition, fragile watermarking techniques are used for the authentication and integrity verification of a digital image. Therefore, fragile watermarks should be easily breakable for trivial tampering of a watermarked image. This paper proposes an efficient fragile watermarking method for image tamper detection in the spatial domain. In the proposed method, a hash code and symmetric key encryption algorithm are used. The proposed method of inserting a watermark by dividing the original image into many blocks of small sizes is not weak against attacks, such as cut and paste. The proposed method can detect the manipulated parts of a watermarked image without testing the entire block of the image.

In this paper, we present a high-quality image authentication scheme based on absolute moment block truncation coding. In the proposed scheme, we use the parity of the bitmap (BM) to generate the authentication code for each compressed image block. Data hiding is used to authenticate whether the content has been altered or not. For image authentication, we embed the authentication code to quantization levels of each image block compressed by absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC) which will be altered when the host image is manipulated. The embedding position is generated by a pseudo-random number generator for security concerned. Besides, to improve the detection ability we use a hierarchical structure to ensure the accuracy of tamper localization. A watermarked image can be precisely inspected whether it has been tampered intentionally or incautiously by checking the extracted watermark. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed scheme achieved high-quality embedded images and good detection accuracy, with stable performance and high expansibility. Performance comparisons with other block-based data hiding schemes are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme.
The invariance relation existing in the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is used for constructing robust image hashes in this work. The image is first re-scaled to a fixed size. Low-pass filtering is performed on the luminance component of the re-sized image to produce a normalized matrix. Entries in the normalized matrix are pseudo-randomly re-arranged under the control of a secret key to generate a secondary image. Non-negative matrix factorization is then performed on the secondary image. As the relation between most pairs of adjacent entries in the NMF's coefficient matrix is basically invariant to ordinary image processing, a coarse quantization scheme is devised to compress the extracted features contained in the coefficient matrix. The obtained binary elements are used to form the image hash after being scrambled based on another key. Similarity between hashes is measured by the Hamming distance. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is robust against perceptually acceptable modifications to the image such as Gaussian filtering, moderate noise contamination, JPEG compression, re-scaling, and watermark embedding. Hashes of different images have very low collision probability. Tampering to local image areas can be detected by comparing the Hamming distance with a predetermined threshold, indicating the usefulness of the technique in digital forensics.

As the main carrier of information, digital image is becoming more and more important. However, with the popularity of image acquisition equipment and the rapid development of image editing software, in recent years, digital image counterfeiting incidents have emerged one after another, which not only reduces the credibility of images, but also brings great negative impacts to society and individuals. Image copy-paste tampering is one of the most common types of image tampering, which is easy to operate and effective, and is often used to change the semantic information of digital images. In this paper, a method to protect the authenticity and integrity of image content by studying the tamper detection method of image copy and paste was proposed. In view of the excellent learning and analysis ability of deep learning, two tamper detection methods based on deep learning were proposed, which use the traces left by image processing operations to distinguish the tampered area from the original area in the image. A series of experimental results verified the rationality of the theoretical basis, the accuracy of tampering detection, location and classification.
Recently, Photo editing softwares such as digital cameras, Paintshop Pro, and Photoshop digital can create counterfeit images easily. Various techniques for detection of tamper images or forgery images have been proposed in the literature. A form of digital forgery is copy-move image forgery. Copy-move is one of the forgeries and is used wherever you need to cover a part of the image to add or remove information. Copy-move image forgery refers to copying a specific area of an image itself and pasting it into another area of the same image. The purpose of copy-move image forgery detection is to detect the same or very similar region image within the original image. In this paper, we proposed fast detection of forgery image using four step search based on discrete cosine transform and a four step search algorithm using discrete cosine transform (FSSDCT). The computational complexity of our algorithm reduced 34.23 % than conventional DCT three step search algorithm (DCTTSS).

Digital watermarking was developed to protect copyright by discouraging the illegal copying of digital content. On the other hand, recently, watermarking has also been used to verify the integrity of digital content, such as medical images, and detect illegal manipulation or distortion locations. Watermarking should be tenacious so as to protect copyright from illegal copying and should remain firm to the content through a range of attacks, such as distortion or filtering. At the same time, however, it should be removed easily even in a slight transformation of the material to verify the integrity. Therefore, this paper proposes a watermarking technique that easily checks and verifies the deformation or manipulation of digital images. In the proposed method, the entire image was examined in $16{\times}16$ blocks to check for deformation of the image. When deformation was detected, further inspection proceeded in $4{\times}4$ blocks and the location where deformation occurred was identified.
