Pulmonary mucormycosis is an uncommon, but important opportunistic fungal infection associated with diabetes mellitus, leukemia, lymphoma and other immunocompromised states. Mucor species grow best in acidic-high glucose medium. which explaining the particular susceptibility of diabetic patient who are ketoacidic. Early consideration of this diagnosis, along with aggressive diagnostic evaluation, is critical to effective therapy and patient survival. We have experienced a case of pulmonary murcomycosis mimicking bilateral pulmonary edema on chest Xray that associated with diabetic ketoacidosis. A brief review of the literature was given.

Thoracoscopic sympathectomy is a common technique used to treat plamar hyperhiodrosis. The complications of thoracoscopic sympathectomy are rare. Recently, we experienced a complex regional pain syndrome(CRPS) after thoracoscopic sympathecotomy in a patient with hyperhidrosis. The treatment of this complication was chemical epidural sympathetic block and conservative pain control. The result of this treatment was good. The patient was recovered after one month.

The diagnosis of isolated tuberculosis of the brachioradialis muscle without osseous involvement was made by excision of the lesion and histologic examination in a 72-year-old woman who was in a poor general state. The patient was free of other systemic symptoms or other foci of infection. The wound healed without complication with the aid of antituberculous chemotherapy. Two years later, the patient remains symptom-free with no signs of recurrence.

We developed a quantitative method for evaluating CEP(color expression power) in eye shadow. This method enables the cosmetic industry to measure CEP on an interval scales, so it is more accurate and reproducible than previous panel tests. Oil, colorants, Pigments and pearls are major factors affecting CEP in eye shadow formulas. We studied the oil effect on CEP using our unique method so CEP could be improved. We believe this method can be applied to other color cosmetics as well. In conclusion, we expected this method to be useful to formulator who want to improve the color expression power in color cosmetics. Additionally, we hope it will contribute toward developing the experiential know-how about color to scientific knowledge.

Scapulothoracic dissociation is a rare entity that consists of the disruption of the scapulothoracic articulation. The mechanism of injury is probably traction caused by a blunt force to the shoulder girdle. This lesion is characterized by massive soft-tissue swelling of the shoulder; lateral displacement of the scapula, an injury to bone, and a severe neurovascular injury. An l8-year-old man sustained a scapulothoracic dissociation as a result of severe shoulder girdle trauma. We report the diagnostic method, clinical and surgical management.

To determine the anti-stress effect of KCG(加味天麻鉤藤飮) extract on sprague-dawley rats. we conducted a research about the change of weight, activity, reactivity, c-fos protein, cytotoxicity against PC12 cell line and heal shock protein. 1) KCG extract siginificantly inhibited the decrease of body weight induced by stress, compared with the control group. 2) KCG extract had no siginificant effect in the activity and reactivity of rats between the control and the experimental groups. 3) KCG extract siginificantly restrained c-fos protein manifestation, compared with the control group. 4) KCG extract siginificantly restrained heat shock protein, compared with the control group. These results suggested that KCG might be usefully anti-stress effect.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the analytical model of the implicit price according to objective and subjective characteristics of housing. The hedonic price regression was used for estimating the implicit price. The subjectives of this study were 1,143 dwellers who live in Seoul metropolitan area. Taejeon, and Jeonju. Satistical analyses were conducted using frequencies, percentiles, mean, and multiple regression. The major findings were as follows: 1. There was a significant difference in the implict price of the apartment between owners and renters. 2. There was a sginificant difference in the implicit price of the apartment among Seoul metropolitan area, Taejeon, and Jeonju. 3. Using a stepwise multiple regression method, the order of variables as they were entered in the model were different between tenure types (owner/renter), and regions(Seoul metroplitan area/Taejeon/Jeonju). 4. The linear model was the most appropriate noe which explained the housing price. 5. Subjective characteristics of housing in Taejeon and Jeonju had an effect on the housing price more than those in Seoul metropolitan area.
