Recently, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) had made some changes in the radiation sources specified from those in the original performance test criteria ANSI N13. 11-1983. In case or beta category, in addition to the high-energy $^{90}$ Sr/$^{90}$ Y beta source, the $^{204}$ Tl source was added because many workplaces have significant levels of lower energy betas. In this study, the performance or the Teledyne PB-3 personnel dosimetry system in the fields of $^{204}$ Tl and $^{90}$ Sr/ $^{90}$ Y beta was investigated using the PTB beta secondary standard sources. The new beta correction function of PB-3 personnel dosimetry system for $^{204}$ Tl beta was also developed in this response experiment. The results show that the Teledyne PB-3 personnel dosimetry system is very effective for $^{90}$ Sr/ $^{90}$ Y beta dose assessment. In case of $^{204}$ Tl beta radiation, however, the results of simple performance test indicated that the use of beta correction factor(=2.088) which was recommanded by manufacturer may result in unexpectable overestimation of delivered dose by about 60%, while the use of developed beta correction function could measure the delivered doses in errors of 15%.
Tanakius kitaharae and Glyptocephalus stelleri, belonging to the family Pleuronectidae, were very similar in external morphology not only during adult periods, but also during larval periods. In this study, we compared larval development and growth of the two pleuronectids species in detail. Fifty-eight specimens of T. kitaharae larvae and five specimens of G. stelleri larvae were collected from the East Sea, southern Korean Strait, and the adjacent waters of Jeju Island during 2014~2016, and were identified using morphological and molecular markers. Flexion larvae of T. kitaharae (10.23~16.77 mm total length, TL) and G. stelleri (14.33 mm TL) were similar in morphometrics, but can be distinguished by the melanophores in the fin membranes (present in the former vs. absent in the latter), and the melanophores at posterior margin of shoulder girdle (absent in the former vs. present in the latter). Postflexion larvae of T. kitaharae (17.12~24.92 mm TL) and G. stelleri (27.71~32.95 mm TL) differed in the number of melanophores on the mid-lateral caudal region (two in the former vs. five in the latter), and that on the dorsal and anal fin pterygiophores (five or six in the former vs. one row in the latter). Tanakius kitaharae and G. stelleri larvae differed in size at the beginning of metamorphosis. The left eye of T. kitaharae larvae between 23.13~24.92 mm TL reached the dorsal margin of the head while that of G. stelleri larvae between 38.66~42.67 mm TL did not reached yet.
Just after hatching the embryo has a yolk sac and straighted digestive tract. Just after parturition in 5.0mm TL the mouth and anus were opened. In the larval stage of 5.2mm TL, digestive tract could be divided into pharynx, esophagus, stomach, pyloric caeca and intestine of the early differentiated state. The esophagus of larvae in 5.3mm TL has a PAS positive mucous cell. From over 5.7mm TL, PAS positive goblet cell recognized in the intestine. PAS positive absorptive cell began to appear in the intestine from 5.9mm TL. Yolky materials were absorbed completely in 6.0mm TL. In the larvae of B.5mm TL, gastric glands were observed in the mucosa, but the surface epithelium did not have PAS positive granules. From over 9.0mm TL, the histological structure of esophagus showed similar to adult. In the juvenile stage from 13.0mm to 15.0mm TL, histological structure of the stomach, pyloric caeca and intestine showed similar to adult. From the ultrastructural and histochemical study, it is concluded that the functional digestive tract is present in the juvenile stage from 18.0mm to 20.0mm TL.
Membrane process was investigated to recover process water and valuable gold from washing water of electroless PCB plating processes. The filtration experiments were carried out using not only a RO membrane test cell to determine suitable membrane for washing water but also spiral wound membrane modules of nanofiltration and reverse osmosis for scale-up. At first, RO-TL(tap water, low pressure), RO-BL(brackish water, low pressure) and RO-normal(for water purifier) sheet membranes made by Saehan Co. were tested, and the performance of RO-TL membrane showed most suitable f3r recovery of soft etching, catalyst and Ni washing waters. As a result of RO test cell, the experiments for scale-up were carried out using RO-TL modules far water purifier at 7bar and $25^{\circ}C $The permeate flux fur Au washing water was about 30 LMH, but Au rejection was less than 80%. The permeate fluxes for Pd, Ni and soft etching washing water were about 22, 17 and 10 LMH, respectively. The Pd, Ni and Cu rejections showed more than 85, 97 and 98% respectively. The nanofiltration module for water purifier was introduced to recover Au selectively from Au, Ni and Cu ions in Au washing water. Most of Ni and Cu ions in the feed washing water were removed, and only Au ion was existed 81.9% in the permeate. Furthermore, Au ion in the permeate was concentrated and recovered by RO-TL membrane module. Finally, Au was also able to recover effectively by using 4 inch diameter spiral wound modules of NF and RO-TL membranes, in series.

The energy band and the G-factor method were compared to determine the exposure rate from the measured spectrum using a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector. First, G-factors of a 3"${\Phi}X3$" NaI(Tl) detector mounted to a EFRD 3300, which means the environmental radiation monitor, in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) were calculated for several directions of incident photons through the MCNP modeling, and the optimum G-factor applicable to that monitor was then determined by comparing the results both the energy band method and the G-factor method. The results for these spectrometric determinations were also compared with the dose rate from a HPIC radiation monitor around a EFRD 3300. The measured value at the EFRD 3300 based on a 3"${\Phi}X3$" NaI(Tl) detector was $7.7{\mu}R/h$ and its difference was shown about $3{\mu}R/h$, when compared with the results from a HPIC radiation moditor. Since a HPIC is known to be able to measure cosmic rays with the relatively high energy, the difference between them was caused by cosmic rays which were not detected in a 3"${\Phi}X3$" NaI(Tl) detector.
Photostimulated luminescence (PSL), electron spin resonance (ESR) and thermoluminescence (TL) analyses were conducted to detect whether 258 kinds of extracted and powdered forms food additives were irradiated or not. In a view of the PSL results, 9 kinds of the extracted and powdered samples (3.2%) showed over 5,000 photon counts $(60sec)^{-1}$ and these samples were judged to be irradiation-positive. Thirty nine kinds of the samples (15.6%) yielded 700~5,000 photon counts $(60sec)^{-1}$ and these samples were grouped into irradiation-potential, while the samples showed below 700 photon counts $(60sec)^{-1}$ sec were judged to be irradiation-negative. TL glow curves for minerals separated from 5 samples were detected at $150^{\circ}C$ with high intensity. However, TL analysis did not apply to other irradiation-positive and irradiation-potential samples because the minerals for TL detection were not separated from the samples. ESR measurements for irradiation-positive and irradiation-potential samples, judged by PSL detection, showed no specific signals to irradiation. The results indicated that PSL could be applied to identify irradiation treatment of extracted and powdered food additives, while TL was optional and ESR was not suitable for detection extracted and powdered food additives.
This study examined radiation detection properties of imported perilla seeds, almonds, and soybeans. Food samples were irradiated at doses of 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 kGy and analyzed by photo-stimulated luminescence (PSL), thermoluminescence (TL), and electron spin resonance (ESR). The results of PSL showed that photon counts of irradiated perilla seeds and soybeans were $32,959counts{\cdot}60sec^{-1}$ and $7,234counts{\cdot}60sec^{-1}$, respectively, at an irradiation dose of 0.5 kGy, and the photon count of irradiated almonds was $5,581counts{\cdot}60sec^{-1}$ at an irradiation dose of 1 kGy. The results of TL showed that this technique is useful for detecting irradiated samples; the TL ratios ($TL_1/TL_2$) measured for the food samples at an irradiation dose of 0.5 kGy were 0.2301 for perilla seeds, 0.4595 for almonds, and 0.4827 for soy beans. Lastly, results of ESR spectroscopy for only soybeans revealed specific signals derived from free radicals captured in the cellulose. In conclusion, PSL, TL, and ESR methods can be used for the detection of gamma-irradiated soybean samples, whereas gamma-irradiated perilla seeds and almonds can be confirmed by a serial detection with a TL method after PSL.

We conducted TL/OSL dating for the earthenware kilns in the Bongsan-ri archaeological site, Osong, which was occupied from the late nineteenth to the late twentieth century. With the SAR-TL/OSL method, paleodose was determined from the equivalent dose during the burial period($ED_{burial}$), the background dose($ED_{BG}$), the fading correction factor(f), and the overestimation correction factor(C). The annual dose rates and their provenance were evaluated from the measurement of natural radionuclides $^{238}U$, $^{232}Th$, and $^{40}K$. Because the comprehensive absolute age was provided by combining the resulting TL/OSL and radiocarbon data, we concluded that, for the absolute chronology of a modern archaeological site, TL/OSL dating and radiocarbon dating must be carried out together and summed. The construction and occupation of earthenware kilns in the Bongsan-ri site had changed from stage I (No.5, 6 kilns), to stage II (No.1, 2, 3 kilns), to stage III (No.4) in chronological order. When Bayesian statistics were applied, we found that the absolute ages of occupation for stages I, II, and III correspond to AD $1910{\pm}23$, AD $1970{\pm}10$, and AD $1987{\pm}4$. These results were in good agreement with the archaeological context or chronology.

Purpose When the patients takes myocardial perfusion SPECT using $^{201}Tl$, the operator gives the patients an injection of $^{201}Tl$. But the uniformity correction map in SPECT uses $^{99m}Tc$ uniformity correction map. Thus, we want to compare the image quality when it uses $^{99m}Tc$ uniformity correction map and when it uses $^{201}Tl$ uniformity correction map. Materials and Methods Phantom study is performed. We take the data by Asan medical center daily QC condition with flood phantom including $^{201}Tl$ 21.3 kBq/mL. After postprocessing with this data, we analyze CFOV integral uniformity(I.U) and differential uniformity(D.U). And we take the data with Jaszczak ECT Phantom by American college of radiology accreditation program instruction including $^{201}Tl$ 33.4 kBq/mL. After post processing with this data, we analyze spatial Resolution, Integral Uniformity(I.U), coefficient of variation(C.V) and Contrast with Interactive data language program. Results In the flood phantom test, when it uses $^{99m}Tc$ uniformity correction map, Flood I.U is 3.6% and D.U is 3.0%. When it uses $^{201}Tl$ uniformity correction map, Flood I.U is 3.8% and D.U is 2.1%. The flood I.U is worsen about 5%, but the D.U is improved about 30% inversely. In the Jaszczak ECT phantom test, when it uses $^{99m}Tc$ uniformity correction map, SPECT I.U, C.V and contrast is 13.99%, 4.89% and 0.69. When it uses $^{201}Tl$ uniformity correction map, SPECT I.U, C.V and contrast is 11.37%, 4.79% and 0.78. All of data are improved about 18%, 2%, 13% The spatial resolution was no significant changes. Conclusion In the flood phantom test, Flood I.U is worsen but Flood D.U is improved. Therefore, it's uncertain that an image quality is improved with flood phantom test. On the other hand, SPECT I.U, C.V, Contrast are improved about 18%, 2%, 13% in the Jaszczak ECT phantom test. This study has limitations that we can't take all variables into account and study with two phantoms. We need think about things that it has a good effect when doctors decipher the nuclear medicine image and it's possible to improve the image quality using the uniformity correction map of other radionuclides other than $^{99m}Tc$, $^{201}Tl$ when we make other nuclear medicine examinations.

In this paper, the metamaterial transmission line (TL) based on the complementary spiral resonators (CSRs) and interdigital structure is presented for reducing the phase noise of the voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The metamaterial TL is realized by adopting the array of the CSRs etched on the ground plane and the interdigital transmission line on the signal plane. The interdigital TL on the signal plane has been used to obtain higher Q value than the conventional TL without the interdigital structure. The resonance properties and inherent saturation of Q value of the proposed metamaterial TL have been analyzed by varying the width of the TL on the signal plane, dimensions of the CSRs, current directions between the CSRs, number of the unit cell-pair of the CSRs, and whether or not there is the interdigital structure in this paper. The phase noise and tuning range of the proposed VCO are -127.50~-125.33 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz and 5.744~5.852 GHz.
