Purpose: We compared the reproducibility of $^{201}Tl\;and\;^{99m}Tc$-sestamibi (MIBI) gated SPECT measurement of myocardial function using the Germano algorithm Materials and Methods: Gated SPECT acquisition was repeated in the same position in 30 patients who received $^{201}Tl$ and in 26 who received $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI. The quantification of end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), and ejection fraction (EF) on $^{201}Tl\;and\;^{99m}Tc$-MIBI gated SPECT was processed independently using Cedars quantitative gated SPECT software. The reproducibility of the assessment of myocardial function on $^{201}Tl$ gated SPECT was compared with that of $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI gated SPECT Results: Correlation between the two measurements for volumes and EF was excellent by the repeated gated SPECT studies of $^{201}Tl$ (r=0.928 to 0.986; p<0.05) and $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI (r=0.979 to 0.997; p<0.05). However, Bland Altman analysis revealed the 95% limits of agreement (2 SD) for volumes and EF were tighter by repeated $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI gated SPECT (EDV: 14.1 ml, ESV: 9.4 ml and EF: 5.5%) than by repeated $^{201}Tl$ gated SPECT (EDV: 24.1 ml, ESV: 18.6 ml and EF: 10.3%). The root mean square (RMS) values of the coefficient of variation (CV) for volumes und EFs were smaller by repeated $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI gated SPECT (EDV: 2.1 ml, ESV 2.7 ml and EF: 2.3%) than by repeated $^{201}Tl$ gated SPECT (EDV: 3.2 ml, ESV: 3.5 ml and EF: 5.2%). Conclusion: $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI provides more reproducible volumes and EF than $^{201}Tl$ on repeated acquisition gated SPECT. $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI gated SPECT is the preferable method for the clinical monitoring of myocardial function.

In this article, we present the effects of Ag doping and after-growth thermal annealing on the photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) behaviors of $SnO_2$ nanoparticles. $SnO_2$ nanoparticles of 4-7 nm size range containing different Ag contents were synthesized by hydrothermal process. It has been observed that the after-growth thermal annealing process enhances the crystallite size and stabilizes the TL emissions of $SnO_2$ nanostructures. Incorporated Ag probably occupies the interstitial sites of the $SnO_2$ lattice, affecting drastically their emission behaviors on thermal annealing. Both the TL response and dose-linearity of the $SnO_2$ nanoparticles improve on 1.0% Ag doping, and subsequent thermal annealing. However, a higher Ag content causes the formation of Ag clusters, reducing both the TL and PL responses of the nanoparticles.

We examined the ovaries of 312 robust tonguefish (Cynoglossus robustus) collected each month from January to December 2001, off the coast of Yeosu, Korea. The samples were used to investigate robust tonguefish reproductive activity. Monthly changes in the gonadosomatic indexindicated that spawning peaked between June and August. Fish size at first spawning was 15-19 cm total length (TL). Over $50{\%}$ of female fish 25-29 cm TL were sexually mature, and this rose to $100{\%}$ for female fish 35-39 cm TL. The tonguefish spawned four or more times during the spawning season. Most females commenced spawning in their second year. The relationship between total length (cm TL) and fecundity (F) was F=528646Ln(TL)-1E+06.

The effects of partial substitution of fluorine on physical properties were studied in Ag-sheathes tapes of $Tl_{0.8}Pb_{0.2}Sr_{1.8}Ba_{0.2} Ca_{2.2}Cu_3O_yF_x (0{\leq}x{\leq}1)$ nominal compositions. The tapes were prepared using the powder-in-tube method incorporating an in-situ reaction method. $CuF_2$ was used as a source of F. It was found that F-doping in Tl-1223 system resulted in a decrease in formation temperatire of Tl-1223 phase. and thus significantly deteriorated their superconducting properties. Such disadvantages seem to originate by the fromation of non-beneficial phases such as SrF2 in the early stage of the powder preparation process.

In a railway vehicle, corrugated steel panel is widely used for the floor panel because of its high bending stiffness and light weight. However, this panel shows lower sound insulation performance than that of the plate with the same weight. Especially, in a particular frequency band, transmission loss (TL) rapidly decreases and it results in the deterioration of TL of the overall floor panel. This study identifies that the remarkable drop in TL is caused from the local resonance of the periodic corrugated structure. This study shows that the frequency band of the TL drop can be controlled by the proper design of the corrugated structure. In addition, improvement effect of TL by attaching foam and glass wool is estimated by experiment. The purpose of the study is to provide the practical information for the improvement of the sound insulation performance of the corrugated steel.

Irradiation can be utilized to inhibit sprouting of onions and garlic. Thermoluminescence(TL) is a potential method to detect post-irradiation of onions and garlic because they are irradiated with soil or dusts on them, from which minerals can be isolated for TL analysis. This study was to determine whether TL can be applied for the detection of post-irradiation of onions and garlic. Onions and garlic produced in Korea were irradiated in the range of 0.01~0.6kGy. Minerals isolated from the samples using sodium polytrungstate solution were used for TL analysis. The onions and garlic irradiated at 0.15kGy or higher could be detected with little errors. Minimum dose for the 2nd glow could be applied since the dose for the 2nd glow did not affect the results. The TL intensities of the temperature ranges of 229~295$^{\circ}C$ and 229~361$^{\circ}C$ and the maximum intensity provided more accurate information for the determination of the post-irradiation of onions and garlic.

The polarographic behaviors of Tl(I) was investigated in EDTA and NTA as supporting electrolytes for determination of Tl(I). A base solution containing 0.005 % gelatine, 0.1 M EDTA, and 0.05 M NTA was used. The halfwave potential of Tl(I) determined is -0.495 V v.s. S.C.E. in 0.1 M EDTA at pH 4.1 and -0.520V v.s. S.C.E. in 0.05 M NTA at pH 6.3. In this paper, the effects of gelatine concentration and pH values was investigated. The half-wave potentials of common elements was determined and compared with the half-wave potential of Tl(I).

The chemical bonding and elastic properties of $Ti_2AC$ (A = Ga, Tl) have been investigated by means of extended H$\ddot{u}$ckel tight-binding band structure calculations. The bulk modulus of $Ti_2AC$ decreases as Ga is replaced with Tl at the A sites. This can be understood by considering the relative strength of Ti-A bonds resulting from the different atomic size of 3A-group elements. The analysis of the projected density of states (PDOS) and the crystal orbital overlap population (COOP) for the respective phases shows that Ti-Ga bonds in $Ti_2GaC$ are stronger than Ti-Tl bonds in $Ti_2TlC$.

Tc-99m methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) and Tl-201/technetium subtraction scintigraphy have been used for localization of abnormal parathyroid gland. The uptake mechanism of tracers has been postulated to be increased cellular density and vascularity, or dependent on the presence of mitochondria-rich cells. However, the uptake of these tracers was not specific for abnormal parathyroid gland. The author report a case of thymic carcinoma that would have been mistaken for carcinoma of parathyroid because of Tc-99m MIBI and Tl-201 uptake.

본 연구에서는 실무에서 적용하고 있는 매개변수 산정방법인 L-moment 방법과 자료계열의 이상치를 고려하여 수정 제시된 TL-moment 방법을 비교 분석하여 빈도해석을 수행하는 경우, 보다 효율적인 매개 변수 산정방법으로 수공구조물 설계 및 재난방재계획에 합리적인 기준을 제시하고자 하였다. 산정방법의 비교를 위하여 서울특별시를 대상으로 강우자료를 수집하였으며, 국내 강우에 적합한 확률분포형으로 선정되어 있는 Gumbel 분포형에 적용하여 모멘트와 확률강우량을 산정하였다. 또한, 산정된 모멘트와 지속기간 25개, 재현기간 8개년의 확률강우량을 비교하여 타당성을 검토하였다. 본 연구의 수행으로 TL-moment 방법에 의한 모멘트의 변동폭이 L-moment 방법 보다 작게 산정되었으며, 산정된 확률강우량의 비교에서 이 상치의 보정이 확인되었다.
