  • Tic disorder including Tourette's disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that appears in childhood and characterized by the presence of motor and vocal tics. Childhood-onset obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is suggested to be a phenomenologically and etiologically distinct subtype of OCD, bearing a close genetic relationship to tic-disorders. Tourette's disorder and OCD are comorbid in $40-75\%$ of patients initially diagnosed with either disorder. Basal ganglia and cortico-striato-thalamic circuits are implicated in the pathophysiology of both disorders and these disorders have similar clinical features. Over the past decades, the progress in research on Tourette's disorder and OCD has been extraordinary. This review describes some of important insights from these work, involving these areas : 1) clinical implication 2) genetics and epidemiology 3) brain imaging study 4) neuroche-mistry 5) pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infection (PANDAS).

  • Different incident angles of ground motions have been considered to evaluate the relationship between floor rotation and torsional irregularity coefficient. The issues specifically addressed are (1) variability in torsional irregularity coefficient and floor rotations with varying incident angles of ground motion (2) contradictory relationship between floor rotation and torsional irregularity coefficient. To explore the stated issues, an evaluation based on relative variation in seismic response quantities of linear asymmetric structure under the influence of horizontal bi-directional excitation with varying seismic orientations has been carried out using response history analysis. Several typical earthquake records are applied to the structure to demonstrate the relative variations of floor rotation and torsional irregularity coefficient for different seismic orientations. It is demonstrated that (1) Torsional irregularity coefficient (TIC) increases as the story number decreases when the ground motion is considered along reference axes of the structure. For incident angles other than structure's reference axes, TIC either decreases as the story number decreases or there is no specific trend for TIC. Floor rotation increases in proportion to the story number when the ground motion is considered along reference axes of structure. For incident angles other than structure's reference axes, floor rotation either decreases as the story number increases or there is no specific trend for floor rotation and (2) TIC and floor rotation seems to be approximately inversely proportional to each other when the ground motion is considered along reference axes of the structure. For incident angles other than structure's reference axes, the relationship can even become directly proportional instead of inversely proportional.

  • In 1983, Sten H$\ddot{a}$kanson first reported the clinical safety and efficacy of retrogasserian glycerol injection as a treatment of typical trigeminal neuralgia in 96 of 100 patients during a follow-up period of 1~6 years. Since September 1987, we have injected sterile pure glycerol into the trigeminal cistern using an anterior percutaneous approach via the foramen ovale (H$\ddot{a}$rtel route) for treatment of tic douloureux in 12 patients who were suffering from attacks pain of following discontinuation of carbamazepine. The results were as follows; 1) Eight patients were completely free from pain attacks with a single dose of glycerol (0.4 ml). The remaining four patients needed a second dose (0.4 ml) several days later following the single dose. The degree of patient's subjective satisfaction by those injections was very good in 11 and fair in one. 2) During the follow-up period (1~13 months), persistent sensory deficit as determined by the pin prick test, appeared to be mild in 10 and moderate in one patient. There was no sensory deficit in one patient. further attacks of pain from those injections were still noted. 3) As a transient complication, there was headache in all patient, facial hematoma in 4, nausea and vomiting in two each, and vertigo and herpes simplex in one each. In conclusion, we confirmed that the above glycerol injections into the trigeminal cistern were clinically very effective as a treatment of tic douloureux even though the follow-up period was short.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Korean Form of the Premonitory Urge for Tics Scale (K-PUTS). Methods: Thirty-eight patients with Tourette's disorder who visited Jeonbuk National University Hospital were assessed with the K-PUTS. Together with the PUTS, the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS), the Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (CY-BOCS), the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) rating scale (ARS), and the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS) were implemented to evaluate concurrent and discriminant validity. Results: The internal consistency of items on the PUTS was high, with a Cronbach's α of 0.79. The test-retest reliability of the PUTS, which was administered at 2 weeks to 2 months intervals, showed high reliability with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.60. There was a significant positive correlation between the overall PUTS score and the YGTSS score, showing concurrent validity. There was no correlation between the PUTS, CY-BOCS, and ASRS scores, demonstrating the discriminant validity of the PUTS. Factor analysis for construct validity revealed three factors: "presumed functional relationship between the tic and the urge to tic," "the quality of the premonitory urge," and "just right phenomena." Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the K-PUTS is a reliable and valid scale for rating premonitory urge of tics.

  • Monte-Carlo Tree Search(MCTS) is a best-first tree search algorithm and has been successfully applied to various games, especially to the game of Go. We evaluate the performance of MCTS playing against each other in the game of Tic-Tac-Toe. It reveals that the first player always has an overwhelming advantage to the second player; and we try to find out the reason why the first player is superior to the second player in spite of the fact that the best game result should be a draw. Since MCTS is a statistical algorithm based on the repeated random sampling, it cannot adequately tackle an urgent problem that needs a strategy, especially for the second player. For this, we propose a strategic MCTS(S-MCTS) and show that the S-MCTS player never loses a Tic-Tac-Toe game.

  • Soybean seeds are important sources of non-nutritive health promoting metabolites. The contents of these metabolites are affected by both genetic and environmental factors. In the present study, the contents of five common isoflavones including daidzin, genistin, glycitin, malonyldaidzin, and malonylgenistin were analyzed in 72 soybeans of different seed coat colors, diversity, and of different origins including China (22), Japan (9), USA (12), India (4), and Korea (25). The average total isoflavone content (TIC) was maximum in Indian soybeans (3302.36 ㎍/g) and minimum in Chinese landraces (1214.95 ㎍/g). The Korean landraces had higher average TIC (2148.05 ㎍/g) than the USA genetic materials (1580.23 ㎍/g) and Japanese landraces (1485.99 ㎍/g). The content of malonylgenistin was in the range of 54.31 - 2385.68 ㎍/g in the entire population, and was the most abundant isoflavone irrespective of origin although there was content variation among individual soybeans. Besides, glycitin was the least concentrated isoflavone, and its content ranged from 0.00 to 79.79 ㎍/g. With respect to seed coat color, green soybeans from all countries displayed the maximum malonylgenistin and TIC contents. Exceptions were those of Korean and Indian origins where black and yellowish-green soybeans presented the highest malonylgenistin and TIC contents, respectively. In multivariate analysis, 92.72% of the variance was explained by the first two principal components, and the soybeans were grouped in to three clusters based on isoflavone contents. Overall, our findings signify the importance of seed coat color and origin as discriminant parameters, and provide wide spectrum of routes for breeding soybean cultivars.

  • Tic convulsif is a syndrome restricted to paroxysmal dysfunction of the fifth and seventh cranial nerves. It occurs predominantly in women over the age of 50 years and is usually associated with an ectatic vertebrobasilar artery - less frequently an arteriovenous malformation or cholesteatoma - which compresses the trigeminal and facial nerve roots in the postetior fossa. In rare instances this syndrome may be caused by brain tumor. Because of the high incidence of posterior fossa lesions in painful tic convulsif, a complete neurological evaluation including computerised transaxial tomography should be performed in every case. We experienced a case of trigeminal neuralgia(mandibular division)and contralateral hemifacial spasm.

  • Thermal imaging technology based on IR sensor with high transmittance through the fire smoke is considered as one of the advanced technology for the fire service. The present study has been performed to investigate the image saturation characteristics with thermal condition of target and background and evaluate the performance of image quality based on the contrast transfer function (CTF). For the present testing conditions, TIC using BST sensor did not show the image saturation and the image quality based on the CTF was proportional to the temperature difference between target and background. This study can be utilized as preliminary study to improve reliability and technical development of TIC.

  • Tourist Information Center has been played an important part of role in the promotion of tourism for both inbound and domestic market. The purpose of this paper is to examine the situation of our tourist information centers in context with information and personnel service. As a result we suggested some findings. According to studies, tourism information provided by TIC is critical and decisive for specific travel type and leisure travelers visit TIC more often than the other types of travelers. The specific aspects of tourism information is accuracy and currency which based on the characteristics of intangibility and perishability. According to this encouragement tourism information system should have to shifted to internet basis. This movement enabled tourism industry to make the atmosphere for portal or hub site for the effective operation of this system. The regionally networked system can make it possible to cope with some characteristics of tourism products. Reservations and information retrievals are major function of portal site. The data from suppliers (hotels, restaurants, event organizers, transportation, attractions etc) must be up-dated, controled by regional TIC and the connections should be extended among the regional TICs.

  • Tic and TiN layers were deposited on the stainless steel substrate by the reactive RF sputtering. Ar was used for sputtering gas and CzHz and Nz were used for reaction gas. Deposition rate increased linearly to the applied RF power, and decreased as the partial pressure ratio of sputter gas to reactive gas increased. The thin layers were stoichiometric at the partial pressure ratio of 0.03 for Tic and at partial pressure ratio of 0.05 for TiN. The morphologies and structures of the thin layers were investigated by AES, SEM and TEM. In addition, N+ ion was implanted to Tic and the resulting influence on the film and annealing effects were also examined.
