Biaxial creep property of ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) foil

  • Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) foil is a novel structural material which has being used in shell and spatial structures. This paper studies biaxial creep property of ETFE foil by creep tests and numerical simulation. Biaxial creep tests of cruciform specimens were performed using three stress ratios, 1:1, 2:1 and 1:2, which showed that creep coefficients in biaxial tension were much smaller than those in uniaxial one. Then, a reduction factor was introduced to take account of this biaxial effect, and relation between the reduction factor and stress ratio was established. Circular bubble creep test and triangle cushion creep test of ETFE foil were performed to verify the relation. Interpolation was adopted to consider creep stress and reduction factor was involved to take account of biaxial effect in numerical simulation. Simulation results of the bubble creep test embraced a good agreement with those measuring ones. In triangle cushion creep test, creep displacements from numerical simulation showed a good agreement with those from creep test at the center and lower foil measuring points.

  • The environmental tests are one of the key branches of the reliability tests. The purpose of the high/low environmental test of KT-1 Export Version Trainer is not only based on meeting the compliance of the reliability, customer satisfaction, but also for the expansion of its export. Amongst many existing environmental tests, the high and low temperature tests are considered as the two most important tests. The tests are considered and tailored to the high and low temperature methods of MIL-STD-810H. This paper proposes the tailoring processes and the results of High/Low temperature conditions, test procedures, and test profiles for the aircraft. Additionally, this paper is described by considering the view of MIL-STD-810H.

Evaluation of immunogenicity of the 2008-2009 seasonal influenza vaccines by microneutralization test

  • Purpose: For evaluating the immunogenicity of an influenza vaccine, the microneutralization (MN) test has a higher sensitivity and specificity as compared to the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test. However, the MN test is more time consuming and is difficult to standardize. We performed the MN test to determine its usefulness as an alternative or complementary test to the HI test for evaluating the immunogenicity of influenza vaccines. Methods: We compared the MN test with the HI test using 50 paired samples taken from a previous clinical study (2008-2009) in Korean children under 18 years of age. Results: The linear correlation coefficients of the 2 tests for H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B were 0.69, 0.70, and 0.66, respectively. We identified a high index of coincidence between the 2 tests. For an influenza vaccine, the postvaccination seroprotection rates and seroconversion rates determined by the MN test were 78.0% and 96.0%, 90% and 42.0%, and 42.0% and 48.0% for H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B, respectively. Geometric mean titer fold increases of H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B were 2.89, 5.04, and 4.29, respectively, and were 2.5-fold higher. We obtained good results in the evaluation of the immunogenicity of the 2008-2009 seasonal influenza vaccines. Conclusion: We found that the MN test was as effective as the HI test. Therefore, we suggest that the MN test can be used as an alternative or complementary test to the HI test for evaluating the immunogenicity of influenza vaccines.

  • There are some cases which require to grasp the abrasion resistance property in the fields of the high-technology to be required the high specific strength and modulus. In this study, wear test with the various test temperature and velocity were performed in the SiCw/A16061 composite and A16061 matrix using the wear test machine of the ring-on-disc type. As the results, the friction and wear properties by various test temperature and velocity were examined. The worn surface has observed by scanning electron microscope in order to examine the wear mechanism.

  • In the fields of reliability application, the most commonly used test methods for reliability qualification are zero failure tests since they require fewer test samples and less test time compared to other test methods that guarantee the same reliability with a given confidence level. An economic zero failure test plan is developed that minimizes the total cost related to perform a life test to guarantee a specified reliability of a product with a given confidence level and a numerical example is provided to illustrate the use of the proposed test method.

농업용 트랙터 변속기의 가속 수명 시험법의 사례연구 (Case Study of Accelerated Life Test Method for Agricultural Tractor Transmission)

  • This study was performed to develop accelerated life test methods for agricultural tractor transmission receiving variable load. To acquire parameters for calculation of accelerated life test, endurance tests were performed under different torque conditions. Test results showed that the shape factor of Weibull distribution was 1.5 and fatigue damage exponent was 5.4. The calculated test time was 5,877 hours under the conditions of average life (MTBF) 3,000 hours and 90% reliability for one test sample. According to the linear cumulative damage rule, test time could be reduced using increased test load. Test time could be reduced by 252 hours when 1.2 times of the rated load compared with 0.67 times of the rated equivalent load calculated by load spectrum of the agricultural tractor. Calculated acceleration coefficient was 23.3.

  • BLDC motors are stored in the devices such as CD-RW, COMBO, DVD-ROM and CD-ROM. It is indispensable to establish reliability assessment criteria for BLDC motors, especially in the world where IT grows rapidly. In this article, reliability certification procedure is given. The reliability certification procedure consists of two separate tests such as quality certification test and lifetime test. The former quality certification test comprises general performance test and environmental test. Items which pass the test undergo lifetime test which guarantees the extent of mean lifetime with certain confidence.

Development of an automated system for water-hydraulic and leakage test of pressure vessels

  • This study developed a fully automated test system for pressure vessels, containing such as oxygen, nitrogen, which is widely used in many industries. The pressure vessel test has three major parts including weight measurement test, water-hydraulic test and leakage test followed by cleaning and drying. The control system for these tests consists of three parts: a PLC, a monitoring system and a database management system. The PLC oversees overall control of test machines, while the monitoring system measures and displays weight, pressure, flow etc. for every situations, and the database management system stores test data. These three modules are designed to communicate with one another at 1 Hz frequency alerting problematic situations to the operator. The system has gone through actual field tests for verification of performances.

  • The EU (European Union) was introduced Euro-6e in 2023. Recently, the EU prepare to introduce Euro-7. One of difference Euro-6e and Euro-7 is test route condition. This study developed 5 test routes that have different characteristics and severity. The severity of test routes was made by traffic and road gradient. And this study was conducted RDE test on 5 test routes for Light-Duty diesel vehicle (Euro-6d). Based on the test results, the emission characteristics of CO2 and NOx were analyzed according to the severity of the test routes. Especially, 4 test routes were satisfied normal driving condition of Euro-7 and other test route was satisfied extended driving condition of Euro-7.
