Bioequivalence of Hanacef Capsule to Duricef Capsule (Cefadroxil 500 mg) (듀리세프 캅셀(세파드록실 500 mg)에 대한 하나세프 캅셀의 생물학적 동등성)

  • Cefadroxil is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin active against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The drug has been used for the treatment of the urinary and respiratory tract infections when caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganism. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two cefadroxil capsules, Duricef (Bo Ryung Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.) and Hanacef (Korean Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The cefadroxil release from the two cefadroxil capsules in vitro was tested using KP VII Apparatus II method with various different kinds of dissolution media (pH 1.2, 4.0, 6.8 buffer solution and water). Twenty four normal male volunteers, $21.58{\pm}2.43$ years in age and $70.74{\pm}10.29$ kg in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized $2{\times}2$ cross-over study was employed. After one capsule containing 500 mg as cefadroxil was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentrations of cefadroxil in serum were determined using HPLC with UV detector. The dissolution profiles of two cefadroxil capsules were very similar at all dissolution media. The pharmacokinetic parameters such as $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed $AUC_t\;and\;C_{max}$ and untransformed $T_{max}$. The results showed that the differences in $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ between two capsules based on the Duricef were 0.05%, -5.29% and 4.53%. There were no sequence effects between two capsules in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals using logarithmically transformed data were within the acceptance range of log(0.8) to log(1.25) $(e.g.,\;log(0.95){\sim}log(1.05)\;and\;log(0.87){\sim}log(1.02)$ for $AUC_t\;and\;C_{max}$, respectively). The 90% confidence interval using untransformed data was within ${pm}20%$ $(e.g.,\;-6.75{\sim}15.74\;for\;T_{max})$. All parameters met the criteria of KFDA guideline for bioequivalence, indicating that Hanacef capsule is bioequivalent to Duricef capsule.

Reference Spent Nuclear Fuel for Pyroprocessing Facility Design (파이로공정 시설 개념설계를 위한 기준 사용후핵연료 선정)

  • An estimation has been made for inventories and characteristics of spent nuclear fuel(SNF) to be generated from existing and planned nuclear power plants based on the 3rd Basic Plan for Electric Power Demand and Supply. The characteristics under consideration in this study are dimensions, a fuel rod array, a weight, $^{235}U$ enrichment, and the discharge burnup in terms of fuel assembly. These are essentially needed for designing a pyroprocessing facility. It is appeared that the anticipated quantity by the end of 2077 is about 23,000 tU for PWR spent nuclear fuel. It is revealed that the proportion of SNF with the initial $^{235}U$ enrichment below 4.5 weight percent(wt.%) is approximately 95 % in total. For SNF with 16$\times$16 fuel rod array the proportion is expected approximately 74% in total. It appears that the average burnup of SNF will be 55 GWd/tU after the medium and/or latter part of 2010s while the average burnup is 45 GWd/tU at present. Finally, a requirement in terms of reference SNF for designing the pyroprocessing facility has been derived from the above-mentioned results. The anticipated SNF seems to be 16$\times$16 Korean Standard Fuel Assembly with a cross section of 21.4 cm$\times$21.4 cm, a length of 453 cm, a mass of 672 kg, the initial $^{235}U$ enrichment of 4.5 wt.%, and the discharge burnup of 55 GWd/tU.

Quantitative Evaluation of Optimized Fat-Suppression Techniques for T2 Weighted Abdominal MR Imaging : Comparison of TSE-SPIR and GE-PROSET (T2 강조 복부자기공명영상에 대한 최적의 지방소거 기법의 정량적 평가 : TSE-SPIR 와 GE-PROSET 비교)

  • The purpose of this experiment is to evaluate of optimized FS techniques for T2 weighted abdominal MRI compared of TSE-SPIR fat suppression and GE-PROSET fat suppression. All MR examinations were performed on a 1.5 T(Philips, Medical System, Achieva) scanner using 16 channel mult-coils. All images were performed in the axial plane using TSE-SPIR and GE-PROSET. The mean SNRs of the retroperitoneal and mesenteric fat for TSE-SPIR and GE-PROSET were 31.50, 4.15 and 32.39, 7.03. The mean CNRs of the bowel and retroperitoneal, mesenteric fat for TSE-SPIR and GE-PROSET were 52.69, 74.54 and 26.12, 68.78). The delineation of bowel wall margins with TSE-SPIR(2.4) and GE-PROSET(1.8) were significantly improved using TSE-SPIR. The delineation of pancreas wall with TSE-SPIR(1.90), GE-PROSET(2.80) were significantly improved using GE-PROSET. In conclusion, TSE-SPIR fat suppression was superior to GE-PROSET fat suppression in T2 WI FS abdominal MRI.

A Study on the Consignment Quantity and Value of Fishes Circulating in Kunsan Harbor, Jeollabuk-do, Korea (군산항에서 유통되는 어류의 위판 현황)

  • This study investigated consignment quantity and value of marine fishes consigned in Kunsan Harbor from 1993 to 1999. The total quantity of fishes consigned over seven years period was 194,531 tons (t), of which 31,632 t (16.3%) in 1994 was the largest, while 25,956 t (13.3%) in 1997 was the smallest. The total consignment value was 367,352,125 thousand won, of which 63,221,365 thousand won (17.2%) in 1996 was the highest, and 38,835,400 thousand won (10.6%) in 1999 the lowest. The group of fish that held the largest weight of consignment sale in Kunsan Harbor was croakers; their consignment quantity was 21,217 t. or 10.9% of all fishes, and their consignment value was 112,768,637 thousand won which is 30.7% of the total value. Fishes consigned in Kunsan Harbor were of great significance in the regional economy, as they comprised 74.7% of the consignment quantity and 76.4% of the consignment value of all marine fishes in Jeollabuk-do, although they came under very low weight as 3.1% of the consignment quantity and 4.2% of the consignment value of the total consignment sales of Korea.

Comparison of satisfaction and need on nursing service perceived by the patients and nurses (입원환자와 간호사의 간호요구도 및 간호서비스 만족도 비교연구)

  • This study evaluates the need of nursing (NN) and satisfaction on nursing service (SNS) in patients and nurses. Questionnaires were completed by 105 patients and 105 nurses in one hospital. The mean score of NN was $3.73{\pm}0.76$ for patients and $3.88{\pm}0.60$ for nurses (t=9.23, p<.001). The top score came from cure territory, while the lowest from physical territory in both patients and nurses. The mean score of SNS was $3.35{\pm}0.74$ for patients and $3.31{\pm}0.44$ for nurses (t=3.88, p<.001). The top score came from cure territory, while the lowest from physical territory in both patients and nurses. When NN and SNS are compared, the score of NN was higher than that of SNS in both patients (t=3.77, p<.001) and nurses (t=9.23, p<.001). As a result, they provided unsatisfactory nursing services, although nurses worked hard to improve them. Nurse administrators should develop strategies and apply them.

Estimation of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Potential by Treatment Methods of Excavated Wastes from a Closed Landfill Site (사용종료매립지(使用終了埋立地) 폐기물(廢棄物)의 처리방법별(處理方法別) 온실(溫室)가스 저감량(低減量) 평가(評價))

  • This study was carried out to estimate greenhouse gas reduction potentials under treatment methods of combustible wastes excavated from closed landfill. The treatment methods of solid wastes were landfilling, incineration, and production of solid recovery fuel. The greenhouse gas reduction potentials were calculated using the default emission factor presented by IPCC G/L method of IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). The composition of excavated waste represented that screened soil was the highest (65.96%), followed by vinyl/plastic (19.18%). This means its own component is similar to the other excavated waste from unsanitary landfill sites. Additionally, its bulk density was 0.74 $t/m^3$. In case of landfilling of excavated waste, greenhouse gas emission quantity was 60,542 $tCO_2$. In case of incineration of excavated waste, greenhouse gas emission quantity was 9,933 $tCO_2$. However, solid recovery fuel from excavated waste reduced 33,738 $tCO_2$ of the greenhouse gas emission quantity. Therefore, solid recovery fuel production is helpful to reduce of greenhouse gas emission.

  • The revolution of industry 4.0 is enabling us to build an intelligent connection society called smart cities. The use of renewable energy in particular solar energy is extremely important for modern society due to the growing power demand in smart cities, but its difficult to monitor and manage in each buildings since need to be deploy low energy sensors and information need to be transfer via wireless sensor network (WSN). The Internet of Things (IoT) / low-power wide-area (LPWA) is an emerging WSN technology, to collect and monitor data about environmental and physical electrical / electronics devices conditions in real time. However, providing power to IoT sensor end devices and other public electrical loads such as street lights, etc is an important challenging role because the sensor are usually battery powered and have a limited life time. In this paper, we proposes an efficient solar energy-based power management scheme for smart city based on IoT technology using LoRa wide-area network (LoRaWAN). This approach facilitates to maintain and prevent errors of solar panel based energy systems. The proposed solution maximizing output the power generated from solar panels system to distribute the power to the load and the grid. In this paper, we proved the efficiency of the proposed system with Simulink based system modeling and real-time emulation.

Evaluation of Effect of Decrease in Metallic Artifacts using the Synthetic MR Technique (Synthetic MR 기법을 이용한 금속 인공물 감소 효과 평가)

  • This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of a synthetic MR technique in reducing metal artifacts. In the experiment, the in-plane and through-plane images were acquired by applying a synthetic MR technique and a high-speed spin echo technique to a phantom manufactured with screw for spinal surgery. The area of the metal artifact was compared. The metal artifacts were measured by dividing the signal-loss and the signal pile-up areas, and the area of the final artifact was calculated through the sum of the two. As a result, the metal artifacts were relatively reduced when the synthetic MR techniques were applied to both in-plane and through-plane. Comparing by sequence, the in-plane T1 images decreased by 23.45%, T2 images by 20.85%, PD images by 19.67%, and FLAIR images by 22.12%. Also, in the case of the through-plane, the T1 image decreased by 62.95%, the T2 image decreased by 73.93%, the PD image decreased by 74.68%, and the FLAIR image decreased by 66.43%. The cause of this result is that when the synthetic MR technique is applied, the distortion is due to the signal pile-up and does not occur and the size of the entire metal artifact is reduced. Therefore, synthetic MR technique can very effectively reduce metal artifacts, which can help to increase the diagnostic value of images.

Comparison of Responses in Psychological and Supportive Factors Between Proxy and Self-respondents in Severely Disabled (중증장애인의 대리응답 여부에 따른 심리적·지지적 요인의 응답 비교)

  • This study is a secondary data analysis study to confirm the difference in responses to psychological and supportive factors of severely disabled according to proxy responses using the National Survey of the Disabled 2020. 738,169 people with severe disabilities who were 19 years of age or older, whose main disability was not an intellectual disability, were analyzed. χ2-test and t-test were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0. As a result of the study, the proxy response was more negative in sadness or hopelessness (χ2=952.20, p<.001), suicidal ideation (χ2=369.45, p<.001), and subjective health status (t=30.61, p<.001). And the proxy respondent answered that they need more support from others for daily life (t=209.43, p<.001) and have many difficulties in communication when using medical services (t=41.74, p<.001). When using a proxy response, the researcher should clearly state the point of view that the proxy respondent should take, and interpret the results considering that proxy response may be affected by various factors.

Estimating the Impact of Plant Surface Area Increase and Physiological Activities on Fine Dust Purification (식물에 의한 표면적 증가와 생리작용이 미세먼지 정화에 미치는 영향 추정)

  • In this study, to estimate the effects of plant-induced surface area increase and physiological activity on fine dust purification, a control group was set up. We utilized both foliage plants (Spathiphyllum wallisii) and artificial plants (shaped like Spathiphyllum wallisii) to measure and compare the purification time for fine dust. The results showed that the time required for fine dust purification in each experimental group decreased by 57-64% for Type AP and 31-32% for Type P compared to the control group. Subsequently, using a Linear Mixed Model (LMM), we tested the interaction between time and each experimental group, revealing statistically significant interactions between surface area increase and time(PM10 : t=3.123, p<0.05, PM2.5 : t=3.180, p<0.05), as well as physiological activity and time(PM10 : t=4.065, p<0.05, PM2.5 : t=4.307, p<0.05), indicating the presence of interactions between each factor and the time variable. Finally, we estimated the efficiency of fine dust purification by plant factors through nonlinear regression analysis. Compared to the control group without purification factors (Type C), it was estimated that surface area increase shortened the purification time by 1.40 times and physiological activity by an average of 1.95 times, resulting in a total 2.74 times shorter purification time. Based on these results, we hypothesized that physiological activity(transpiration and absorption) has a greater impact on fine dust purification than surface area increase(biosorption). Accordingly, we emphasize the importance of vegetation management practices such as pruning and irrigation management in green spaces aimed at fine dust purification.
