Quantitative Analysis of Renogram (Renogram의 정량분석(定量分析)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • Radioisotope renography was carried out in 564 cases consisting of 150 normal controls, 140 hypertensives, 102 hypertensive nephropathys, 62 chronic renal diseases, non-functioning kidneys. It was aimed to study which parameter of the renogram is most applicable to any definite disease of the kidney. The analytical methods adopted were; Tobe, Spencer, Krueger, Matchida and Takeuchi. In the non-functioning kidney groups, the hemograms and serum nitrogen series were also studied to evaluate the relationships between the renograms and renal anemia. The parameters were; time of maximum amplitude (Tmax), half-time of maximum amplitude ($T\frac{1}{2}$), Kac value calculated from these two parameters in Tobe's method, slopes of Band C phase, B/A and B/C values in Spencer's method, total concentration (T.C.), minute concentration (M.C.) and minute excretion (M.E.) in Krueger's method, Matchida's K value and Takeuchi's renal function Index (R.F.I.). Following were the results: 1. In general, marked differences in the patterns of the renogram were observed between the normal controls and nephropathys. In Tobe's method, each parameter showed statistically significant delay or decrease in patients with hypertensive nephropathys and chronic renal diseases. In Spencer's method, slopes of B and C phase and B/C, also showed the statistically significant decrease in patients with hypertension, hypertensive nephropathys and chronic renal diseases. In Krueger's method, M.C. and ME showed the statistically significant differences between the control and patients with hypertension, hypertensive nephropathys and chronic renal diseases, In Matchida's method, K value showed the statistically significant differences between the control and patients with hypertensive nephropathys and chronic renal diseases. 2. It appeared, therefore, that Tobe's $T\frac{1}{2}$, Kac value, Spencer's slopes of Band C phase, B/A, B/C values, Krueger's T.C., M.C., and M.E. values, Matchida's K value are useful for the differentiation of various renal diseases, however, qualitative analysis of the renogram with one or two parameters is not accurate. 3. In bilateral non-functioning kidney groups, a positive correlation between anemia and nitrogen retention was observed, although the quantitative assessment of the degree of non-functioning was impossible.

Effects of Various Stimulants on Spawning Induction and Early Development at Different Water Temperatures in the Noble Scallop (흔한가리비, Chlamys nobilis의 자극방법별 산란유발 효과와 난 발생에 미치는 수온의 영향)

  • We examined the effects of stimulants including sunlight and UV-irradiation on the spawning induction and early development of the noble scallop, Chlamys nobilis. The sunlight stimulation resulted in nuch faster spawning induction (100% success within 40 minutes) compared to UV-irradiation (100% success within 70 minutes). Early development of the scallop larva took place between 15$^{\circ}C$ to 3$0^{\circ}C$. The time to reach the early D-shaped stage was 63.5, 31.5, 18.5 and 17.0 hours at 15, 20, 25 and 3$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The correlations between the water temperature-(WT) regimes and the time (t) required for each developmental stage are as follows. 2 cell stage: 1/t=0.0606WT-0.6194 ($r^2$=0.9791) 8 cell stage: 1/t=0.0304WT-0.3453 ($r^2$=0.9941) Morula: 1/t=0.0100WT-0.1049 ($r^2$=0.9663) Trochophore: 1/t=0.0058WT-0.0618 ($r^2$=0.9848) D-shaped larva: 1/t=0.0030WT-0.0282 ($r^2$=0.9731) These correlations indicated that the biological minimum temperature of the species is around 10.44$^{\circ}C$. The highest survival rate up to D-shaped larva at different water temperature was observed at $25^{\circ}C$.

The Effect of Sea Tangle Supplementation and Exercise Training on Blood Glucose and Lipid Profile in Rats (다시마 보충과 운동훈련이 흰쥐의 혈당과 혈중지질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Sea Tangle supplementation and exercise training on blood glucose and lipid profile in rats. Twenty seven, 4-week old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the control group (C, n=9), sea tangle group (D, n=9) and sea tangle+exercise group (D+T, n=9). Exercise training was performed 5 days a week using a treadmill running program for 6 weeks (5 m/min, 0% grade, 30 min). There was no difference in blood glucose (C: $175.9{\pm}47.5$, D: $173.9{\pm}34.0$, D+T: $165.0{\pm}38.0\;mg/dl$) and triglyceride (C: $251.1{\pm}91.8$, D: $215.0{\pm}90.0$, D+T: $200.0{\pm}89.3\;mg/dl$) among the groups. Total cholesterol value of the D+T group ($81.8{\pm}11.2\;mg/dl$) was significantly lower than that of the C ($103.0{\pm}13.5\;mg/dl$) and D ($102.1{\pm}14.5\;mg/dl$) groups. High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was significantly high in the D+T ($40.9{\pm}9.7\;mg/dl$) group compared with the C ($32.6{\pm}3.8\;mg/dl$) group and D ($31.7{\pm}7.3\;mg/dl$) group. The value of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) for the D ($98.0{\pm}41.0\;mg/dl$) group was statistically lower than the C($114.5{\pm}41.8\;mg/dl$) group, and higher than the D+T ($91.2{\pm}41.7\;mg/dl$) group. In conclusion, sea tangle injection and exercise had a positive effect on blood lipid profiles.

사료급여별 산란계의 체 성장 및 체 조성 특성 비교

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of restricted feeding to pullet on growth pattern and body composition. Conventional diets(C) was formulated by NRC recommendation, and one of restricted diet started from seven to seventeen week of age(T1), and another started from twelve to seventeen(T2) with adjusted eighty percentage amount of conventional diet. Body weight decreased with starting restriction of feeding comparing to the C(P<0.05), but reached to similar weight in all treatments at twenty week regardless restriction. All of birds started to lay egg around 1,400 to 1,450gram of body weight though the age was in order of C, T2 and T1. Fat contents of restricted group in the body were less than that of C around one thousand gram of body weight. And the tendency of body fat was similar to the first egg. After twenty week, all content of body composition were similar in all treatments. The proportion of intestinal organ weight was higher in T1 than others during restriction.

ON SOME TWISTED COHOMOLOGY OF THE RING OF INTEGERS

  • As an analogy of $Poincar{\acute{e}}$ series in the space of modular forms, T. Ono associated a module $M_c/P_c$ for ${\gamma}=[c]{\in}H^1(G,R^{\times})$ where finite group G is acting on a ring R. $M_c/P_c$ is regarded as the 0-dimensional twisted Tate cohomology ${\hat{H}}^0(G,R^+)_{\gamma}$. In the case that G is the Galois group of a Galois extension K of a number field k and R is the ring of integers of K, the vanishing properties of $M_c/P_c$ are related to the ramification of K/k. We generalize this to arbitrary n-dimensional twisted cohomology of the ring of integers and obtain the extended version of theorems. Moreover, some explicit examples on quadratic and biquadratic number fields are given.

Crystal Structure of Nalidixic Acid (Nalidixic Acid의 결정구조)

  • The crystal structure of -Ethyl-1,4-dihydro-7-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-4-one-3-carboxylic acid [Nalicixic Acid] has been determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction study; C12H12N2O3, monoclinic, P21/c, a=8.910(2)Å, b=13.145(3)Å, c=9.370(3)Å, β =100.06(2)°, V=1080.6Å, T=293K, Z=4, CuKα(λ=1.5418Å). The molecular structure was solved by direct method and refined by full-matrix least squares to a final R=0.055 for 1555 unique observed [F0>4σ(F0)] reflections and 166 parameters. The conformation of the molecule is stabilized by an intramolecular O(17)-H(17)…O(14) hydrogen bond [2.525(2)Å, 144.3(10)°].

Cryopreservation of Mouse Embryos by Vitrification (Mouse 배의 Glass화 보존)

  • Eight-cell mouse embryos equilibrated with vitrification solution(VS3), consisting of glycerol and polyethlene glycol, were plunged directly into liquid nitrogen. The embryos were cryopreserved by vitrification without intra- and extracellular ice formation. After the vitrified embryos were warmed at 4$^{\circ}C$, sucrose dilution procedures were examined and the survival embryos were transferred to recipients after 48h incubation in vitro. The results were obtained as follows. 1. Mouse embryos equilibrated with VS3 were diluted with 1.5m sucrose-HB 1 solution, 0.5M sucrose-HB1 solution for 5min at room temperature, respectively. The proportion of vitrified-warmed embryos developed to blastocyst(85.7%) was as high as that of the embryos diluted with 1.04M sucrose-HB1 solution at 4$^{\circ}C$(85.5%). 2. Normal live youngs were obtained in 53.9%(55/102) of the vitrified-warmed embryos after tranfer to pseudopregnant recipients.

  • Bi-system high-$T_c$ superconductors with the nominal composition $(Bi_{0.7}Pb_{0.3})_2-Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$ have been prepared by PJL method. The critical temperature (offset temperature) of the sample annealed for 13 hours in air was 102K. And the results of X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns, scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectra analyses, it was found that PJL method is so effective to reduce the heat treatment period.

  • Baicalein (5,6,7-trihydroxyflavone), a flavonoid originated from the root of Chinese medicinal herb Scutellaria baicalensis, has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and hepatic stellate cells play an important role in the pathogenesis or hepatic fibrosis. In this study, we investigated apoptosis stimulation by baicalein in activated rat hepatic stellate cells (T-HSC/C1-6). Transformed rat hepatic stellate cells (T-HSC/C1-6) were treated with baicalein(100uM, 70uM, 40uM). Apoptosis was determined by detection of DNA fragmentation in gel electrophoresis, morphological alternations by flow cytometry and quantification of phosphatidylserine externalization by Annexin V labeling.   • Opening agricultural market progresses radically, reducing cost of high quality agricultural products becomes urgent. Aerial application using an agricultural helicopter helps precise and timely spraying and reduces labor intensity and pollution. The development of an agricultural helicopter was necessary for taking advantages of both technique and economy. In this study, as the first stage of developing an unmanned helicopter capable of 20kg payload, an engine was selected and a prototype transmission was designed for an agricultural helicopter. Prony type dynamo-meter was constructed, the engine was tested and then performance curve was obtained. The centrifugal clutch was engaged at the rotation speed of 3,500-4,000 rpm. Maximum power was expected at the engine speed of 5,900-6,200 rpm when adjusted at the optimal output. Based on the test results, the transmission was designed for driving main rotor shaft.
