This cross-sectional correlational study investigated factors affecting career planning of nursing students, focusing on the associations between satisfaction of academic major, perceived professional competence, and job expectations. Data from 255 nursing students were collected through self-administered questionnaire surveys on 2016 January 4 and 7 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, t-tests, bootstrapping SPSS macro and path analysis using AMOS. There were significant correlations between major satisfaction, professional competence, and job expectations. Both major satisfaction and professional competence were significant factors influencing job expectations, but their effects on job expectations were significantly different depending on whether there was a role-model, which support a moderating effect of having a role-model. Major satisfaction had a significant direct effect on career planning, but its indirect effect on career planning through job expectations was not significant. Professional competence did not have a significant direct effect on career planning, but its indirect effect on career planning through job expectations was significant. Overall, the results highlight the importance of providing educational support and opportunities for nursing students to explore their own motivation and to have a role-model during pursuit of a nursing career.

This investigation was a descriptive study that examined the relationship among factors including professional autonomy, role conflict, and clinical decision-making ability of nurses on comprehensive nursing service wards. To accomplish this, a survey of 234 nurses working at D city and G city who were selected based on convenience sampling was conducted. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire completed by 234 nurses at four clinical hospitals from October 12, 2017 to November 30, 2017. The collected data were evaluated by t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The mean clinical decision-making ability score was $3.38{\pm}0.78$, which corresponded to an intermediate level of clinical decision-making ability. Clinical decision making ability was positively correlated with professional autonomy, but role conflict showed a negative correlation. The factors having the greatest impact on clinical decision-making ability were found to be, in order, length of work, education level, professional autonomy and role conflict, which together accounted for 38.7% of the total impact. To improve clinical decision making ability, it is important to improve autonomy and role conflict. Additionally, to improve clinical decision-making ability, it is necessary to improve clinical decision-making ability to determine nurses tasks through professional autonomy and role conflict. Overall, the results of this study can be utilized as baseline data when developing a program to enhance nurses' clinical decision making ability. Moreover, it is suggested that an interventional study analyzing validity and effectiveness of developed education programs be conducted.

Based on the theory of cognitive reserve, we undertook this study to develop a cognitive function training program for woman in menopausal transition with complaints of declining in cognitive function. The program was established by applying the analysis, design, and development stages of the network-based instructional system designed by Jung. The cognitive function training program developed by us is an was an 8-week program composed of cognitive and video training using a mobile application. The program consists of 24 sessions, each with 20-30 minutes of duration, to be completed 3 sessions per week. The contents of the cognitive function training comprise of memory, attention, language function, and scenario-based problem-solving for executive functions, all of which are cognitive areas found to be the most vulnerable for menopausal women. The educational contents were developed for eight subject areas, one subject area per week, including the definition of menopause, its causes and symptoms, menopause and brain function, etc. During the pilot test, the cognitive function training program was applied to 10 menopausal women who complained of cognitive function decline. The results indicated that, after eight weeks of training, the overall cognitive function of participants increased, revealing statistically significant differences (t=-3.04, p=.014) after the program was completed. The mobile app-based cognitive function training program might not only improve patients' memory functions but also potentially reduce the incidence of dementia.

Purpose: This study determined the intention of obtaining long-term work by graduate nursing students. Methods: The subjects were 116 students in the fourth year of the nursing department located in G city of G province and G city of J province. A structured questionnaire was used from November 1, 2018 to November 27, 2018 for data collection. The SPSS/WIN 21.0 program was used for the collected data and the data was analyzed by t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Result: The major factors influencing the intention to work were satisfaction with their academic major (β=.54, p<.001), and the career after employment in a hospital) (β=.28, p<.001). The explanatory power was 46.5% (F=51.00, p<.001). Conclusion: To increase the satisfaction of studying nursing, it is necessary to apply various educational programs to positively recognize the nursing profession and a nurse's image and increase optimism and social efficacy. There is a need to develop a tool to measure the intention of obtaining long-term nursing jobs for nursing students in hospitals. This study suggested a way to increase the intention of obtaining long-term work by improving the degree of satisfaction with nursing profession.

This research aims is to confirm the effects of cultural competence of an action learning based teaching method in multicultural nursing education. Cultural competence was composed of cultural knowledge, cultural awareness and cultural acceptance. A total of 118 college students were enrolled in this study. Both before and after learning, the students were guided to fill out a questionnaire regarding culture competence. The students from each group studied multicultural nursing by different teaching types: the Traditional Lecture-based Teaching method (TLT) and Action Learning based Teaching method (ALT). Data analysis was carried out by SPSS 21.0. A pre-post comparison within the group was performed using a paired t-test and the comparison between groups was performed using ANCOVA. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the culture competence in both teaching methods. In addition, ALT showed higher cultural acceptance results than TLT; however, there was no difference in cultural knowledge and cultural awareness between the two groups Therefore, ALT should be considered as a teaching method to enhance cultural competence in multicultural nursing education for Nursing students. Further studies on instructional design according to the task types, nursing performance, and the validity of ALT will be needed.

Objectives : Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia(BPSD) represent significant clinical problems, resulting in functional decline, caregiver distress, institutionalization and increased mortality. A recent study showed gender differences have important role in the development of BPSD, but relationship between BPSD and gender has never been studied in Korea. This study was designed to examine whether patients with Alzheimer's disease show gender differences in behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia(BPSD). Methods : Ninety-eight subjects with Alzheimer's disease were included in this study. We carried out history taking and cognitive assessment for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease based on DSM-IV. Cognitive impairment and BPSD were measured using the Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE), Global Deterioration Scale (GDS), Clinical Dementia Rating(CDR) and the Korean Neuropsychiatric Inventory(K-NPI). Independent samples t-test was used to examine the differences across gender in BPSD. Correlation analysis between MMSE, CDR, GDS and NPI was performed using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results : There were no significant gender differences between the gender in BPSD. We found statistically significant negative correlations between MMSE with NPI total score, and with scores of several sub-domains such as hallucination. Conclusions : This study showed that gender differences in BPSD are not significant. Further research is necessary to identify whether BPSD affect gender differences or individual differences.
This study was undertaken to investigate the factors that influence post-traumatic growth in patients with breast cancer. The study subjects were 100 outpatients with breast cancer who visited the outpatient clinic of a university hospital. The instruments used for this study were Korean Post-traumatic Inventory (K-PTGI), Modified Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey (mMOS-SS), Self-Efficacy Scale for Self-Management of Breast Cancer (SESSM-B) and Cancer Coping Questionnaire (CCQ). The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson-correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The mean score of post-traumatic growth was $3.4{\pm}0.9$ out of 5. Post traumatic growth had statistically significant correlation with social support, breast cancer self-management self-efficacy, and coping behavior. In stepwise multiple regression analysis, post-traumatic growth was significantly influenced by therapeutic compliance related self-efficacy and positive reframing coping behavior and it was account for 29% of the total variance. These results suggest that these influencing factors should be considered in developing the nursing intervention to improve the post-traumatic growth in patient with breast cancer.

The purpose of this study was to explore factors associated with smartphone dependence among adults in their 20s. The data were derived from the 2017 Survey on Smartphone Over-dependence conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency. There were 3,684 participants. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and weighted hierarchical multiple regression analysis. For the results, factors related with higher smartphone dependence of participants were duration (β=.18, p=.000) and frequency (β=.04, p=.000) of usage, gaming (β=.15, p=.000), watching videos (β=.09, p=.000), mobile shopping (β=.05, p=.000), working (β=.05, p=.010), e-mailing (β=.13, p=.000), and sports betting (β=.07, p=.000). Music (β=-.07, p=.000) and adult content (β=-.07, p=.000) significantly reduced their smartphone dependence. SNS (Social Networking Services) (β=.01, p=.358) and instant messengers (β=-.02, p=.330) were not factors related to smartphone dependence. However, instant messengers were the most used by participants and had a strong correlation with working (r=.55, p=.000). This study shows that smartphone usage patterns related with smartphone dependence among adults in their 20s are different from those of children and adolescents. These results could be used to more deeply understand smartphone dependence among adults in their 20s and plan early detection and prevention and care of dependence.

The purpose of this descriptive survey was to investigate the duration of exclusive breastfeeding practice and its related factors of married immigrant Vietnamese women. And to provide baseline information necessary to develop education programs for the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding practice among them. 125 married immigrant Vietnamese women with a child between 6 months and 60 months old were conveniently recruited in two Multi-cultural Family Support Center in Chungcheong area. Data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire of Korean and Vietnamese versions. The data were analyzed using frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Stepwise multiple regression with SPSS 18.0 program. The results were as follows; 1) The mean duration of exclusive breastfeeding of the subjects was 15.9 weeks. 2) As the infants grows older, the rate of formula feeding and mixed feeding were markedly increased. 3) Stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that breastfeeding education and family type were significant determinants of the duration of exclusive breastfeeding practice. This model accounted for 30.8% of the duration of exclusive breastfeeding practice. Based on these results, we recommend to develop systematic breastfeeding education program in order to promote the duration of exclusive breastfeeding practice among married immigrant Vietnamese women.
Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees.
