  • This work describes capabilities based acquisition process in the SoS(System of Systems) environment. It is written as qualitative paper based on a cognitive paradigm. Future battle space is formed with grids of the various sensors and the shooters. It has been also transformed into a SoS concept which accomplishes missions and their functions through network based battle management systems in a single theater. The SoS is a set or arrangement of systems that results when independent and useful systems are integrated into a larger system that delivers unique capabilities. Therefore the acquisition process is changing over from single system requirements to capabilities based acquisition of the SoS. In this point of view, this paper analyzes functionally JCIDS, DAS and CEP which are critical elements of the acquisition process. From results of this comprehensive analysis, perspectives on the application of capabilities based acquisition suitable for Korean acquisition environment are presented.

  • Semiconductor deposition equipment is an important example of Complex Products and Systems (CoPS) and requires in-depth understanding of user requirements. For this reason, we analyzed and compared users' and producers' perspectives on the quality attributes of semiconductor deposition equipment using the Kano model. The results show that the patterns of users' perspectives were different from those of producers. Out of 22 level-2 quality attributes, producers evaluated all 22 attributes as attractive qualities, but users evaluated only 6 as "attractive," 10 as "indifferent," 2 as "must have," and 4 as "other." Although all quality attributes were attractive for producers, only those related to reliability were attractive or must-have qualities, and all others were "indifferent." This result implies that the perspectives on quality attributes may be different between users and producers, and producers should revise their perspectives and strategies. In addition, the results support the characteristics of CoPS suggested by literature implying that performance is more important than economies of scale and cost reduction. It is suggested that producers of semiconductor deposition equipment strategize their approaches to users by considering the characteristics of CoPS.

  • In multi-view subspace clustering, how to integrate the complementary information between perspectives to construct a unified representation is a critical problem. In the existing works, the unified representation is usually constructed in the original data space. However, when the data representation in each view is very diverse, the unified representation derived directly in the original data domain may lead to a huge information loss. To address this issue, different to the existing works, inspired by the latest revelation that the data across all perspectives have a very similar or close spectral block structure, we try to construct the unified representation in the spectral embedding domain. In this way, the complementary information across all perspectives can be fused into a unified representation with little information loss, since the spectral block structure from all views shares high consistency. In addition, to capture the global structure of data on each view with high accuracy and robustness both, we propose a novel low-rank approximation via the tight lower bound on the rank function. Finally, experimental results prove that, the proposed method has the effectiveness and robustness at the same time, compared with the state-of-art approaches.

  • This study aims to understand microaggressions directed toward international students from the perspective of international exchange professionals, who tend to be in relatively close contact with international students. This study targeted professionals who directly advise and support international students at university international exchange centers in J and G cities. The data were collected by conducting focus group interviews with seven participants in two groups from 25 May to 8 June 2023. Data were collected by conducting focus group interviews of seven participants in two groups from 25 May to 8 June 2023. After analyzing the interview data using thematic analysis, two themes emerged: the experiences of international students and the perspectives of international exchange professionals. The experience of international were further categorized into three sub-themes: differences in cultural context, academic discrimination, and discrimination due to lack of information. The perspectives of international exchange professionals were further categorized into three sub-themes: limited access to infrastructure, different perspectives depending on the level of the country, and consideration as a barrier. It is hoped that the findings of this study, obtained by exploring the microdiscrimination faced by international students at universities, will facilitate the development of different systems and policy recommendations to improve the experiences of international students.

  • Background: Palliative therapies have an important role in increasing the quality of healthcare and in dealing with physical and psychosocial problems due to cancer. We here aimed to evaluate the managerial perspectives and opinions of the hospital managers and clinical directors about specialized palliative care centers. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in two large-scale hospitals in which oncology care is given with medical directors (n:70). A questionnaire developed by the researchers asking about demographic characteristics and professional experience, opinions and suggestions of medical directors about providing and integrating palliative care into healthcare was used and responses were analyzed. Results: Potential barriers in providing palliative care (PC) and integrating PC into health systems were perceived as institutional by most of the doctors (97%) and nurses (96%). Social barriers were reported by 54% of doctors and 82% of nurses. Barriers due to interest and knowledge of health professionals about PC were reported by 76% of doctors and 75% of nurses. Among encouragement ideas to provide PC were dealing with staff educational needs (72%), improved working conditions (77%) and establishing a special PC unit (49)%. An independent PC unit was suggested by 27.7% of participants and there was no difference between the hospitals. To overcome the barriers for integration of PC into health systems, providing education for health professionals and patient relatives, raising awareness in society, financial arrangements and providing infrastructure were suggested. The necessity for planning and programming were emphasized. Conclusions: In our study, the opinions and perspectives of hospital managers and clinical directors were similar to current approaches. Managerial needs for treating cancer in efficient cancer centers, increasing the capacity of health professionals to provide care in every stage of cancer, effective education planning and patient care management were emphasized.

  • Until now there have been many kinds of enterprise architecture frameworks including the DoDAF in defense domain, the FEAF in administration domain, and the TEAF in finance domain. These EAFs define EA viewpoints for supporting each domain and propose perspectives and models for each viewpoint. These EAFs provide consistent models from different perspectives that interact with each other. However, they have too many perspectives so that their complexities are too high, or they do not define enough models for concrete architecture description. Especially, they neither consider business values, that mean the ultimate purpose of an organization nor execute processes for achieving the business values. This paper thus proposes the VBEAF, business value based enterprise architecture framework that considers and executes business values in organizational business processes.

  • Molecular simulation is an exceptionally useful method for predicting self-assembled structures in various macromolecular systems, enlightening the origins of many interesting molecular events such as protein folding, polymer micellization, and ordering of molten block copolymer. The length scales of those events ranges widely from sub-nanometer scale to micron-scale or to even larger, which is the main obstacle to simulate all the events in an ab initio principle. In order to detour this major obstacle in the molecular simulation approach, a molecular model can be rebuilt by sacrificing some unimportant molecular details, based on two different perspectives with respect to the resolution of model. These two perspectives are generally referred to as 'atomistic' and 'mesoscopit'. This paper reviews various simulation methods for macromolecular self-assembly in both atomistic and mesoscopic perspectives.

  • This paper addresses a performance evaluation model for ERP system's implementation using Analytic Network Process (ANP) technique. In this study, the performance variables are identified as the perspectives of cost, business process, systems operation, and change management, respectively. The empirical study also investigated factors that affect the performance variables to find out the causal relationship between them using the ANP approach. The data for the empirical analysis were collected from manufacturing companies that have implemented ERP systems. The research findings indicate the proposed model is powerful in proposing that the indirect relationship between influencing factors and managerial effectiveness, mediated by employee satisfaction, is an important one.
