  • The 350[km/h] catenary system was successfully opened in Honam high speed line. This 350[km/h] catenary system is firstly constructed in South Korea. Therefore the current collection performance of this system should be tested and evaluated by the authority. This paper describes the testings by running of HEMU-430X train and the evaluation criteria and result analysis to determine whether the performance of the catenary is good or not as a verification of catenary-pantograph interface. In detail, the contact force by pantograph, arcs by loss of contact and uplift amount of the catenary support were measured and discussed as a category of the current collection performance.

  • On a bus-based shared memory multiprocessing system, the system bus monitoring and analysis are crucial for system integration test and performance analysis. In this paper, the design and implementation of a bus monitoring instrument for the TICOM-III system are decribed. The instrument dedicated to TICOM-III, which is called the Bus Information Procssing Unit, analyzes the bus state and measures the bus utilization. It performs many useful functions to help debugging the system, and offers a simple user interface.

  • In this study, the hydraulic breaker system was analyzed and the analysis tool using GUI was developed. The analysis on the system with the accumulator was included. from the parametric analysis, the effects of each factor were revealed. Through the simulation with varying parameters, the method to improve the performance of the hydraulic breaker system was presented. The analysis tool will help a man without special knowledge about programming analyzse the hydraulic breaker system. The result of this study will help improve the hydraulic breaker system in sight of "Blow energy" and "Blows per minute".ws per minute".uot;.

  • This paper considers the influence of internal heat exchangers on the efficiency of a refrigerating system using R-1270. These internal heat exchangers(liquid-gas or suction-line heat exchangers) can, in some cases, yield improved system performance while in other cases they degrade system performance. A steady state mathematical model is used to analysis the performance characteristics of refrigeration system with internal heat exchanger. The influence of operating conditions, such as the mass flowrate of R-1270, inner diameter tube and length of internal heat exchanger, to optimal dimensions of the heat exchanger is also analyzed. The main results were summarized as follows : the mass flowrate of R-1270, inner diameter tube and length of internal heat exchanger, and effectiveness have the influences on the cooling capacity, compressor work and RCI(Relative Capacity Index) of this system. With a thorough grasp of it is possible to design the R-1270 compression refrigeration cycle using internal heat exchanger.

A Performance Index for Time Slot Allocation in Link-16 Relative Navigation System

  • In this paper, we propose a performance index that can compare the position estimation performance according to the time slot allocation order, which is superior in the position estimation performance in the operation of the Link-16 based relative navigation system. In order to verify the validity of the performance index, a software-based Link-16 relative navigation system performance analysis platform composed of a signal generator, a signal reception and navigation algorithm execution unit, and a performance analysis unit was designed. Using the designed software platform, we analyzed the relationship between proposed performance index and position estimation performance according to time slot allocation order in the same position reference (PR) arrangement. The performance index of the proposed time slot allocation is expected to be utilized not only for the Link-16 system, but also for the Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA)-based navigation system.

  • This study introduces about the analysis, verification and implementation of Digital Communication Satellite transponder. Through the pre-performance analysis of each component by the circuit level simulation, each component's performance was checked whether satisfying the specifications. When each of the components was connected in order, System's performances were evaluated through system harmonic balanced simulation whether satisfying the specifications. Through pre-analysis of the system performance, specification of each component was defined. On the basis of that specification, Components which comprise the Digital Communication Satellite repeater were manufactured, and finally, the overall system performance check was made by integrating the components of Digital Communication Satellite transponder.

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to investigate usage level of production strategies based on group of production environment, 2) to investigate usage level of production systems based on group of production strategy, and 3) to analyze each of company performance based on group of production strategy and system. For this study, the questionnaires were administered to 215 apparel manufactures in metropolitan area from Feb. to Mar. 1998. Employing a sample of 201, data were analyzed by factor analysis, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, and multivariate analysis of variance. The following are the results of this study. 1. Concerning production strategy due to group of production environment, the stable group and the complicated group prefer to rice/quality centered strategy but the level of usage for strategies is so pretty that it is not significant to carry out them. 2. Concerning production system due to group of production strategy, the workers centered group is occupied high in the price/quality centered group & the complex group. And also the product centered system is occupied high in the flexibility centered group. 3. Concerning company performance due to group of production strategy and system, the price/quality centered group holds low position of performance comparing to another groups. And the performance of the managers centered group is higher than that of the workers.

Thermal Performance Evaluation of Movable Insulation System in Apartments (공동주택 발코니창에 설치된 가동단열 시스템의 열성능 평가)

  • The aim of this study was to analysis the Heating/cooling performance of movable insulation system built in apartments. The process of this study is as follows: 1) Test-cells of movable insulation are designed through the investigation of previous paper and work. The type of the movable insulation used in test-cell is low emissivity(5%) insulation, measured for heating season and the thermal effects are analyzed. 2) The simulation program(Design Builder) was used in energy performance analysis. the reference model of simulation was made up to analysis energy performance on movable insulation system. 3) Selected reference model(Floors:15, Area of Unit:115.5$m^2$) for heating/cooling energy analysis, Energy performance simulation with various variants, such as slate angle of movable insulation(5$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$, 50$^{\circ}$) and position of movable insulation. Consequently, When movable insulation system is equipped with balcony window of Apartment, Annual heating energy of reference model was cut down at the average of 5.4kWh/$m^2$ or 4.6% of heating/cooling energy.

An Economic Analysis and Performance Prediction for a Ground Heat Pump System with Barrette Pile (Barrette 파일을 이용한 지열시스템의 채열 성능 예측 및 경제성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Ground source heat pump systems (GSHP) can achieve higher performance of the system, by supplying more efficient heat source to the heat pump, than the conventional air-source heat pump system. But building clients and designers have hesitated to use GSHP systems, due to expensive initial cost, and uncertain economic feasibility. In order to reduce the initial cost, many researches have focused on the energy-pile system, using the structure of the building as a heat exchanger. Even though several experimental studies for the energy-pile system have been conducted, there was not enough data of quantitative evaluation with economic analysis and comprehensive analysis for the energy-pile. In this study, a prediction method has been developed for the energy pile system with barrette pile, using the ground heat transfer model and ground heat exchanger model. Moreover, a feasibility study for the energy pile system with barrette pile was conducted, by performance analysis and LCC assessment. As a result, it was found that the heat exchange rate of a barrette pile was 2.55 kW, and the payback period using LCC analysis was 8.8 years.

  • Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a theoretically sound framework for performance analysis that offers many advantages over traditional methods such as performance ratios and regression analysis. Largely the result of multidisciplinary research during the last three decades in economics, engineering and management, DEA is best described as an effective new way of visualizing and analyzing performance data. Besides, overseas information technology companies have aggressively tried to enter the domestic market. In the age of globalization and high competition, it is imperative that the system integration (SI) companies need to introduce the performance evaluation models of SI projects, including Capability Maturity Model and Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination, to gain a competitive advantage. Therefore, it makes our research regarding evaluation of SI projects very opportune. The purpose of the study is not only to evaluate efficiency of each project by DEA but also to gain insight into various factors such as project complexity, team members' man-months structure, and process index(project management index) that link to the projects performance.
