This study presents an input-powered high-efficiency interface circuit for energy harvesting systems, and introduces a zero standby power design to reduce power consumption significantly while removing the external power supply. This interface circuit is composed of two stages. The first stage voltage doubler uses a positive feedback control loop to improve considerably the conversion speed and efficiency, and boost the output voltage. The second stage active diode adopts a common-grid operational amplifier (op-amp) to remove the influence of offset voltage in the traditional comparator, which eliminates leakage current and broadens bandwidth with low power consumption. The system supplies itself with the harvested energy, which enables it to enter the zero standby mode near the zero crossing points of the input current. Thereafter, high system efficiency and stability are achieved, which saves power consumption. The validity and feasibility of this design is verified by the simulation results based on the 65 nm CMOS process. The minimum input voltage is down to 0.3 V, the maximum voltage efficiency is 99.6% with a DC output current of 75.6 μA, the maximum power efficiency is 98.2% with a DC output current of 40.4 μA, and the maximum output power is 60.48 μW. The power loss of the entire interface circuit is only 18.65 μW, among which, the op-amp consumes only 2.65 μW.
This paper discusses the regulator problem of minimizing the input energy for the multi-input linear time-invariant discrete-time system with the zero terminal state. The optimal inputs are expressed by the state feedback form and they are made up of three phases. The optimal feedback gains are independent of the initial state.

A methodology to evaluate the seismic performance of interface piping systems that cross the isolation interface in the seismically isolated nuclear power plant (NPP) was developed. The developed methodology was applied to the safety-related interface piping system to demonstrate the seismic performance of the target piping system. Not only the seismic performance for the design level earthquakes but also the performance for the beyond design level earthquakes were evaluated. Two artificial seismic ground input motions which were matched to the design response spectra and two historical earthquake ground motions were used for the seismic analysis of piping system. The preliminary performance evaluation results show that the excessive relative displacements can occur in the seismically isolated piping system. If the input ground motion contained relatively high energy in the low frequency region, we could find that the stress response of the piping system exceed the allowable stress level even though the intensity of the input ground motion is equal to the design level earthquake. The structural responses and seismic performances of piping system were varied sensitively with respect to the intensities and frequency contents of input ground motions. Therefore, for the application of isolation system to NPPs and the verification of the safety of piping system, the seismic performance of the piping system subjected to the earthquake at the target NPP site should be evaluated firstly.
Recently, industrial systems are becoming quicker and lighter to enable the reduction of energy consumption and increase productivity. So the latest systems are more flexible and rapid than the previous systems. But, with this improvement, another problem has emerged, such as the increase in residual vibration when a system is started or stopped. The input shaper is a command generation method that can remove residual vibration. It can provide a solution to the problem of residual vibration in industrial systems. However, it is difficult to generate the input shaper in high order systems, such as a typical industrial system because the input shaper is induced from the system's vibration characteristics. This study focused on the extra insensitivity shaper that can compensate for the system's modeling error such as input dynamics, and the high order's system affection. A genetic algorithm was deployed to adjust a vibration limitation for the extra insensitivity of the input shaper. A plant is a low damping system that includes one zero and a pole. The fitness functions are an error signal of the system's response with normalized frequency variations. Verification of the suggested system is satisfied by comparison between the zero vibration derivative input shaper's response and the suggested one.

It is not desirable to have too large control input in control systems, because there are usually a limitation for the input magnitude and cost for the input energy. Previous papers in the iterative learning control did not considered on these points. In this paper, an iterative learning control method is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with consideration on input magnitude by adopting a concept of cost function consisting of the output error and the input magnitude in quadratic form. We proposed a new input update law with an input penalty function. If we choose a reasonable input penalty function, the two control objectives, good command following and small input energy, can be achieved. The characteristics of the proposed method are shown in the simulation examples.

This paper presents analytic results of energy sequestered for the forcing cultural Cu- cumber and the others production system with the input-output tables method in the suthern parts of Korea. In this study an attempt is made to evaluate input of direct and indirect energy, output of yield energy and net energy in order to achieve increased energy productivity under P E greenhouse. Cultural practices were grouped soil and soilless with perlite for vegetable production. The results from this study are summarized as follows : 1. Total energy inputs in cucumber production were calculated to be 510 GJ/l0a(di- rect energy : 480 GJ/lOa, indirect energy : 30 GJ/lOa) from soil culture and 440 GJ/ 10a(direct energy : 420 GJ/lOa, indirect energy : 20 GJ/lOa) from soilless culture in perlite hydroponics. 2. Energy outputs from cucumber and biomass were 7 GJ/lOa and 120 GJ/lOa at a uniform rate respectively. 3. Heating fuel as diesel is a major energy inputs approaching 90% of the total energy requirements for cucumber production. 4. Net energy in cucumber production was calculated to be 503 GJ/lOa from soil cul- ture and 431 GJ/lOa from soilless culture. Net energy productivity was maintained costantly as 0.98. 5. Energy productivity in cucumber was calculated to be 0.029 kg/MJ from soil culture and 0.043kg/MJ from soilless culture, while energy efficiency was 0.012 and 0.015 respectively. It is expected that a soilless cultural production system seems to be reduc- tive in seguestered energy input by 13%.
To construct the production system of forest biomass as a small scale heating energy source, energy availability of wood-chip was examined by cost and energy balance analysis in the production process. The costs to produce wood-chip of 1 kg was calculated by yarding machines and their operational gradient conditions. As a result, 195.45~210.54 won/kg were required as production costs of wood-chip. Input energy rate (%) which is output to input energy in wood-chip production process were showed as 26.58~27.38%. Energy input rate by operational gradient was not significantly difference, and scenario B with tower yarder system appeared by more efficient than scenario A with tractor yarding system in opposition to production costs analysis.

Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) has developed a high efficient Stirling cryocooler with moving magnet linear compressor for precooling hydrogen liquefier and cooling high temperature superconductor (HTS) devices, such as superconductor cable and superconductor fault current limiters. Hydrogen liquefier and HTS electric devices require cryocooler with cooling capacity of hundred watts to kilowatts at 77 K. The compressor in the Stirling cryocooler uses opposed moving magnet linear motors to drive opposed pistons. High efficient Stirling cryocooler is designed by SAGE-software, manufactured and tested systematically. A cooling capacity of 1 kW at 77 K with an electric input power of 9.6 kW has been analyzed. But prototype test results of the Stirling cryocooler have the cooling capacity of 0.65 kW at 76.8 K with an electric input power of 8.1 kW. And then, 21.5% Carnot COP (Coefficient of performance) of the prototype Stirling cryocooler is achieved. The comparison analysis between SAGE-model and experimental results has shown the direction for further design optimization of the Stirling cryocooler.
In this study the thermal performance and economic analysis program of solar heating system for district heating was developed. This program, named SOLAN-DHS and based on TRNSYS, consisted of four modules like as user's interface for system input/output, library, and utilities and a calculating engine. SOLAN-DHS simplifies user's input data through the database of most system engineering data including weather data of 17 areas in Korea. Five different types of solar systems which can be applicable to district heating system were presented in this program. Due to the user-friendly layout, all design parameters can be changed quickly and easily for the influence on system efficiency. The reliability of SOLAN-DHS was finally verified by the experiments.
This study aims to develop the program for active solar heating system design & analysis. The program, named ASOLis, is consisted of three user's interface like as system input/output, library, and utilities and used TRNSYS as a calculation engine for the system analysis. ASOLis simplifies user's input data through the database and can design 37 different types of solar systems. Solar system is configurated by two separated parts "solar thermal collecting part" and "load supplying part". Due to the user-friendly layout, all design parameters can be changed quickly and easily for the influence on system efficiency. For the reliability, ASOLis compared with experimental result. As a result, ASOLis is expected to be used as a vital tool for the design and analysis of active solar heating system.
