Various literatures related computing of information processing have been recently shown the researches inspired from the remarkably excellent human capabilities which recognize and categorize very complex visual patterns such as body motions and facial expressions. Applied from human's outstanding ability of perception, the classification function of visual sequences without context information is specially crucial task for computer vision to understand both the coding and the retrieval of spatio-temporal patterns. This paper presents a biological process based action recognition model of computer vision, which is inspired from visual information processing of human brain for action recognition of visual sequences. Proposed model employs the structure of neural fields of bio-inspired visual perception on detecting motion sequences and discriminating visual patterns in human brain. Experimental results show that proposed recognition model takes not only into account several biological properties of visual information processing, but also is tolerant of time-warping. Furthermore, the model allows robust temporal evolution of classification compared to researches of action recognition. Presented model contributes to implement bio-inspired visual processing system such as intelligent robot agent, etc.

It is important to design tunnel support system considering the various loads acting on the tunnel because they have a direct impact on the stability of tunnels. In Korea, standardized support patterns are defined based on the rock mass classification system depending on the project, and it is stated that it should be modified appropriately considering the behavior of tunnel during construction. In this study, the tunnel support pattern optimization method is suggested based on the convergence-confinement method, earth pressure, axial force of rock bolt, and moment acting on the shotcrete. The length and spacing of the rock bolts and the thickness of the shotcrete were optimized by using the differential evolution algorithm (DEA) and the results were compared to the standard support pattern III for railway tunnel. Rock bolt length can be reduced and the installation interval can be widened for shallow tunnel. As the depth of tunnel increases, the thickness of shotcrete increases linearly. Therefore, the thickness of shotcrete should be thicker than the standard support pattern as the depth of tunnel increases to secure the stability of tunnel.
The nonlinear characteristics of summer monsoon intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) in precipitation, which is manifested as fluctuations in convection and circulation, is one of the major difficulty on the prediction of East Asian summer monsoon (EASM). The present study aims to identify the spatial distribution and time evolution of nonlinear phases of monsoon ISO. In order to classify the different phases of monsoon ISO, Self-Organizing Map(SOM) known as a nonlinear pattern recognition technique is used. SOM has a great attractiveness detecting self-similarity among data elements by grouping and clustering such self-similar components. The four important patterns are demonstrated as Meiyu-Baiu, Changma, post-Changma, and dry-spell modes. It is found that SOM well captured the formation of East Asian monsoon trough during early summer and its northward migration together with enhanced convection over subtropical western Pacific and regionally intensive precipitation including Meiyu, Changma and Baiu. The classification of fundamental large scale spatial pattern and evolutionary history of nonlinear phases of monsoon ISO provides the source of predictability for extended-range forecast of summer precipitation.
In this study, a dynamic modeling scheme is presented to describe the probabilistic structure of soil water and plant water stress index under stochastic precipitation conditions. The proposed model has the form of the Fokker-Planck equation, and its applicability as a model for the probabilistic evolution of the soil water and plant water stress index is investigated under a climate change scenario. The simulation results of soil water confirm that the proposed soil water model can properly reproduce the observations and show that the soil water behaves with consistent cycle based on the precipitation pattern. The simulation results of plant water stress index show two different PDF patterns according to the precipitation. The simple impact assessment of climate change to soil water and plant water stress is discussed with Korean Meteorological Administration regional climate model.

Langasite ($La_{3}Ga_{5}SiO_{14}$) was found to have wide application as a promising piezoelectric material. It has high thermal stability of the frequency and large electromechanical coupling factor. For the further development of new compounds with langasite type structure, powders in the La-Al-Si-O system were synthesized by a modified Pechini process. The evolution of the crystalline phase during calcination was studied using TG-DTA, XRD and TEM for the precursor powders. Decomposition proceeded via dehydration and removal of excess solvents at low temperatures ($T<500^{\circ}C$), followed by the crystallization of lanthanum aluminum silicate ($T>800^{\circ}C$) and phase transformation to $LaAlO_{3}$ phase ($T>1200^{\circ}C$). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of the calcined powders showed diffuse hollow rings corresponding to an amorphous phase at $800^{\circ}C$ and clear diffraction patterns corresponding to a crystalline phase from the P321 space group ($T<1200^{\circ}C$) and the R3m ($T<1200^{\circ}C$).

As a result of the prevalence of smartphone, various mobile services became faster by LTE networks. Because many mobile devices are used more wireless services, heavy signaling traffic for authentication could be generated. Authentication is an important factor in wireless networks to identify devices; it is the start of wireless networks. This paper analyzes previous patterns for more effective authentication in accessing of another external networks. We propose a fast authentication scheme for minimizing of signaling cost between the authentication server and external networks. And we calculate the rate of authentication occurrence in LTE networks using mathematical modeling as well as the change of signaling cost for authentication in various network environments. Finally, we calculate the optimized number of authentication data and show the effectiveness for authentication signaling costs.

Accompanied by the rapid development of Computer Vision, Visual surveillance has achieved great evolution with more and more complicated processing. However there are still many problems to be resolved for robust and reliable visual surveillance, and the cast shadow occurring in motion detection process is one of them. Shadow pixels are often misclassified as object pixels so that they cause errors in localization, segmentation, tracking and classification of objects. This paper proposes a novel cast shadow removal method. As opposed to previous conventional methods, which considers pixel properties like intensity properties, color distortion, HSV color system, and etc., the proposed method utilizes observations about edge patterns in the shadow region in the current frame and the corresponding region in the background scene, and applies Laplacian edge detector to the blob regions in the current frame and the background scene. Then, the product of the outcomes of application determines whether the blob pixels in the foreground mask comes from object blob regions or shadow regions. The proposed method is simple but turns out practically very effective for Gaussian Mixture Model, which is verified through experiments.

Plants are continually exposed to a variety of potentially pathogenic microbes, and the interactions between plants and pathogenic invaders determine the outcome, disease or disease resistance. To defend themselves, plants have developed a sophisticated immune system. Unlike animals, however, they do not have specialized immune cells and, thus all plant cells appear to have the innate ability to recognize pathogens and turn on an appropriate defense response. Using genetic, genomic and biochemical methods, tremendous advances have been made in understanding how plants recognize pathogens and mount effective defenses. The primary immune response is induced by microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs). MAMP receptors recognize the presence of probable pathogens and evoke defense. In the co-evolution of plant-microbe interactions, pathogens gained the ability to make and deliver effector proteins to suppress MAMP-induced defense responses. In response to effector proteins, plants acquired R-proteins to directly or indirectly monitor the presence of effector proteins and activate an effective defense response. In this review we will describe and discuss the plant immune responses induced by two types of elicitors, PAMPs and effector proteins.

A 1257-m-long irregular deep foundation pit located in the central of Nanjing, China was constructed using the combined full-width and half-width top-down method. Based on the long-term field monitoring data, this study analyzed the evolution characteristics of the vertical movement of the columns, internal force of the struts, and axial force of the structural beam and slab. The relevance of the three mentioned above and their relationship with the excavation process, structural system, and geological conditions were also investigated. The results showed that the column uplift was within the range of 0.08% to 0.22% of the excavation depth, and the embedded depth ratio of the diaphragm wall and the bottom heave affected significantly on the column uplift. The differential settlement between the column and diaphragm wall remained unchanged after the base slab was cast. The final settlement of the diaphragm wall was twice the column uplift. The internal force of the struts did not varied monotonically but was related to numerous factors such as the excavation depth, number of struts, and environmental conditions. Additionally, the dynamic force and deformation of the columns, beams, and slabs were analyzed to investigate the inherent relationship and variation patterns of the responses of different parts of the structure.

User requirements for access and authentication increase daily because of the diversification of the Internet of Things (IoT) and social structures. The increase in authentication needs requires the generation of new passwords. Users want to utilize the same passwords for memorization convenience. However, system administrators request each user to use different passwords, as well as passwords that include special symbols. Differnet passwords and including special symbols passwords seem to exceed the tolerance range within your memorization skills. It fetches a very negative consequences in terms of password management. This paper proposes a preference symbol password system that does not require memorization by users. First, a survey is conducted to prove statistical safety, and based on this, an evolution-type password system that uses preference symbols is designed. Preference symbol passwords show superiority with respect to installation cost and convenience, compared with conventional non-memorizing password systems such as biometrics, keystrokes, and mouse patterns.
