A Study on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Joined-wing Aircraft with Variation of Wing Configurations

  • The present study was attempted to investigate flow interference effects and the aerodynamic characteristics of the front and rear wings of a joined-wing aircraft by changing the configuration variables. The study was performed using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) tool to demonstrate forward flight and analyze aerodynamic characteristics. A total of 9 configurations were analyzed with variations on the position, height, dihedral angle, incidence angle, twist angle, sweepback angle, and wing area ratio of the front and rear wings while the fuselage was fixed. The quantities of aerodynamic coefficients were confirmed in accordance with joined-wing configurations. The closer the front and rear wings were located, the greater the flow interference effects tended. Interestingly, the rear wing did not any configuration change, the lift coefficient of the rear wing was decreased when adjusted to increase the incidence angle of the front wing. The phenomenon was appeared due to an effective angle of attack alteration of the rear wing resulting from the flow interference by the front wing configurations.

  • Recently flexible mobile terminals which can freely change the shape of their device are coming out with the development of the flexible display, high capacity memory and system integration technology. The display and the antenna configuration of the future terminals will be altered according to the QoS (quality of service) and the communication environment of users. In particular, we present the new emergence of a multimedia language for human and system to communicate over subjective concepts, intention of users. The intension of users is expressed by changing the shape of their mobile terminal. In addition, antenna configuration is also related to shape of terminal and QoS of users. Therefore, we set up a specific usage scenarios for future mobile terminals and propose an adaptive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) schemes that can maximize channel capacity and fit to QoS of users simultaneously.

Aerodynamic Effects of Gun Gas on the Aircraft's Armament System (항공기 무장시스템 Gun Gas 공력특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the airflow field around a gun port on the flight condition of gunfire to verify the aircraft performance and safety effects and gun gas rate, path according to the options of diverter configuration. The gun port diverter not only effectively lowered the heat generated by gunfire but also effectively discharged the gun gas upwards. The path of gun gas can be changed according to its configuration. According to the optional configuration of the rear-gun-port diverter, the flow rate, path, and pressure of the gun gas were analyzed during gunfire. An analysis of the internal velocity distribution and the temperature change of the gun port revealed a rapid decrease in flow rate through the rear diverter according to the option configuration. The forward flow rate showed a similar tendency with little change. This ensures that the gun gas generated during gunfire has a sufficient flow distance from the aircraft surface, regardless of the rear gun port diverter's optional configuration. The flow stagnation of gun gas according to the option configuration of diverter had a great influence on the internal temperature rise of a gun port.

  • The goal of the paper is to discuss the recent trend of the configuration of high resolution LEO(Low Earth Orbit) EO(Earth Observation) satellites. The satellite configuration is decided by considering several factors such as mission, payloads, launch vehicle, propulsion and attitude control module. The advent of commercial companies selling satellite's images in 2000's requires additional changes of the satellite system to be capable of obtaining many high resolution images quickly. In order to meet customer's needs, the overall configuration of satellites is designed to be compact and stable without the loss of structural integrity and reliability. Among design changes, the configuration change of satellites is treated intensively in the paper.

A Development of Advanced Wiring Harness Design System for a Vehicle (자동차 전장설계 옵션별 출도 및 관리시스템 개발)

  • The harness design process consists of repetitious routines to decide the wire configuration in its interior. A slight change in one of the wire's configuration will require a total reconfiguration of the entire wire system. Therefore, the harness design is extremely time consuming and is vulnerable to human errors by an engineer. Based on both electrical and mechanical area, Wiring Harness system is in complicated area. Existing systems are, therefore, not exactly suitable for practical use. This paper presents a novel framework for ameliorating existing system's defects. In this paper, Visio and Visual Basic was interfaced to process wire bundle information and wire bundle location to alleviate problems mentioned beforehand concerning harness design; at the same time developing the automation of the entire design process based on the feature based design method, optional print, and management of documents for reuse.

  • The capacity for tracing relationships among various artifacts which are created at each phase of software system development is essential for software quality management. Software release refers to delivering a set of newly created or changed artifacts to customers. The relationships among artifacts which comprise software release must be traced so that the work for customer's requirement of change and functional enhancement is effectively established. And release management can be effectively realized through the integration of configuration management and change management. This paper proposes the technique for supporting change management of artifacts and for tracing relationships of artifacts which comprise software release through the integrated environment of personal workspace and configuration management system. In the proposed environment, the visualized version graph and automated tagging function are used for tracing relationships of artifacts.

  • This paper describes the operating characteristic analysis of magnetic actuator that is used in breaker using 3-D axisymmetry finite element method. To analyze the operating characteristic of magnetic actuator for configuration change is designed an A, B model and C. Also, For Transient analysis of Electromagnetic system is considered Non-linear characteristic for magnetizing of iron. The analysis results of A, B model and C for magnetic actuator compared with those characteristic respectively.

  • This paper presents the influence of the process parameters on the change in dynamic behavior of a lathe turning system. With variation of feed rate, depth of cut, direction of tool motion, cutting speed and tool location along the workpiece, the dynamic characteristics of stable cutting, chatter transition and fully developed chatter regions are demonstrated. The workpiece vibration during machining is continuously measured at different tool locations along the workpiece and quantitatively analyzed. Complex linear behavior due to change of process parameter values as well as fundamental wystem nonlinearity due to change of process configuration indicated by a tool path dependence of the locations of chatter onset and disappearance are described. Finally, the structural characteristics of the turning system which can have large and nonlinear effects on system behavior are presented.

A Study on Korean-English Legend Configuration for Guide Signs (안내표지의 국·영문 문안 배치 연구)

  • In recent, the enhancement of guide signs system for expressway were studied. And newly suggested signs in that research show left-right bilingual (Korean/English) configuration of 2 destinations whereas existing signs showed top-bottom configuration. However the new configuration have not been evaluated with discreet examination. In this study, several bilingual configuration designs are developed and evaluated with human factors experiment. Therefore the design with the shortest legibility time were chosen as a best design. As a result, the fact that the change of Korean/English configuration shows different results of the legibility time was confirmed. The guide sign with left-right bilingual (Korean/English) configuration of 2 destinations showed less legibility time than that of the existing signs with top-bottom configuration.

  • Because of paradigm change to web service, numerous institutes have been suggested supporting solution about web service, and actively developed system using web service but it is hard to find out a systematic study for web service performance enhancement. Generally, there are SOAP message processing improvement and configuration optimization of server viewpoint for web service performance enhancement. Web service performance enhancement through SOAP message processing improvement have been studied related research but configuration optimization of server is hard to find out a systematic tuning model and performance criteria. In this paper, I suggested performance testing based tuning model and criteria of configuration optimization of server viewpoint. We executed practical analysis using tuning model about web service in internet. This paper show that the proposed tuning model and performance criteria is applicable to web service performance enhancement.
