  • As an approach to develope a control system with robustness in changing control environment conditions, this paper will propose a robot manipulator control system using multilayer neural network and immune algorithm. The proposed immune algorithm which has the characteristics of immune system such as distributed and anomaly detection, probabilistic detection, learning and memory, consists of the innate immune algorithm and the adaptive immune algorithm. We will demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control system with simulations of a 2-link robot manipulator.

  • The filtered-x LMS (FX-LMS) algorithm has been applied to the active noise control (ANC) system in an acoustic duct. This algorithm is designed based on the FIR (finite impulse response) filter, but it has a slow convergence problem because of a large number of zero coefficients. In order to improve the convergence performance, the step size of the LMS algorithm was modified from fixed to variable. However, this algorithm is still not suitable for the ANC system of a short acoustic duct since the reference signal is affected by the backward acoustic wave propagated from a secondary source. Therefore, the recursive filteredu LMS algorithm (FU-LMS) based on infinite impulse response (IIR) is developed by considering the backward acoustic propagation. This algorithm, unfortunately, generally has a stability problem. The stability problem was improved by using an error smoothing filter. In this paper, the recursive LMS algorithm with variable step size and smoothing error filter is designed. This recursive LMS algorithm, called FU-VSSLMS algorithm, uses an IIR filter. With fast convergence and good stability, this algorithm is suitable for the ANC system in a short acoustic duct such as the intake system of an automotive. This algorithm is applied to the ANC system of a short acoustic duct. The disturbance signals used as primary noise source are a sinusoidal signal embedded in white noise and the chirp signal of which the instantaneous frequency is variable. Test results demonstrate that the FU-VSSLMS algorithm has superior convergence performance to the FX-LMS algorithm and FX-LMS algorithm. It is successfully applied to the ANC system in a short duct.

  • In this paper, we optimize simulation model of a manufacturing system using the real-coded genetic algorithm. Because the manufacturing system expressed by simulation model has stochastic process, the objective functions such as the throughput of a manufacturing system or the resource utilization are not optimized by simulation itself. So, in order to solve it, we apply optimization methods such as a genetic algorithm to simulation method. Especially, the genetic algorithm is known to more effective method than other methods to find global optimum, because the genetic algorithm uses entity pools to find the optimum. In this study, therefore, we apply the real-coded genetic algorithm to simulation optimization of a manufacturing system, which is known to more effective method than the binary-coded genetic algorithm when we optimize the constraint problems. We use the reproduction operator of the applied real-coded genetic algorithm as technique of the remainder stochastic sample with replacement and the crossover operator as the technique of simple crossover. Also, we use the mutation operator as the technique of the dynamic mutation that configures the searching area with generations.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for loss reduction and load balancing by sectionalizing switch operation in large scale distribution system of radial type. We use Genetic algorithm and Kruskal algorithm to solve distribution system reconfiguration. Genetic algorithm is used to minimize objective function including loss and load balancing items. Kruskal algorithm is used to satisfy the radial condition of distribution system. The experimental results show that the proposed method has the ability to search a good solution regardless of initial configuration and size of system.

  • This paper shows application of optimal reconfiguration algorithm for distributing power system to KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) system for loss minimization and load balancing. That is, it suggests additional algorithm to check potential problems caused in case of theoretical algorithm being applied to real system and recover from them. Also, comparing the results of reconfiguration algorithm Tabu-Search Algorithm applied to current KEPCO distribution power system and those of Branch Exchange Algorithm using initial operation point suggested in this paper, it shows how much the results are improved in aspects of load balancing, loss reduction and calculating time.

  • In this paper we deal with a design of the evaluation system to assess the vehicle operational control algorithm for Personal Rapid Transit(PRT) system. PRT system is different from the conventional rail traffic system in such that the station is off-line so as to guarantee a very short headway. In this study we propose an evaluation system to assess the performance of the proposed vehicle control algorithm. The evaluation system is composed of virtual vehicles, central control system, virtual wayside facilities, monitoring equipments. The virtual vehicles are made up by the laptop computers and the central control system employs Power PC process of Motorola Inc. The wayside facilities are implemented by employing the PXI module of the National Instruments Corporation. In order to test the proposed evaluation system a test algorithm is used, which has been simulated in the combined simulation system between Labview Simulation Interface Toolkit and Matlab/Simulink.

  • We proposed the division algorithm that was aimed at dividing system models. It used a transitive matrix to express the relation between place and transition. And the division algorithm was applied to the scheduling problem, with the division-scheduling algorithm. The division-scheduling algorithm was able to calculate the divided subnet table. And it is able to reduce the analysis complexity. In this study, we applied the proposed division algorithm and division-scheduling algorithm to flexible manufacturing system models. We compared the efficiency and performance of the division-scheduling algorithm with the Hillion algorithm, Korbaa algorithm, and Unfolding algorithm proposed in previous researches.

  • This paper studies the structure and reliability of homogeneous s-coherent multistate system. We describe efficiency of inclusion-exclusion algorithm and pivotal decomposition algorithm for reliability calculation of 2-states system which developed in (Lee 1999) [10]. We extend our method, applied in [10], to the case when components of the system are given multi-states. As an application, the high pressure injection system of a pressurized water reactor is modeled as a multistate system composed of homogeneous s-coherent multistate subsystems. And Several examples are illustrated.

The research of new algorithm to improve prediction accuracy of recommender system in electronic commercey

  • In recommender systems which are used widely at e-commerce, collaborative filtering needs the information of user-ratings and neighbor user-ratings. These are an important value for recommendation in recommender systems. We investigate the in-formation of rating in NBCFA (neighbor Based Collaborative Filtering Algorithm), we suggest new algorithm that improve prediction accuracy of recommender system. After we analyze relations between two variable and Error Value (EV), we suggest new algorithm and apply it to fitted line. This fitted line uses Least Squares Method (LSM) in Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA). To compute the prediction value of new algorithm, the fitted line is applied to experimental data with fitted function. In order to confirm prediction accuracy of new algorithm, we applied new algorithm to increased sparsity data and total data. As a result of study, the prediction accuracy of recommender system in the new algorithm was more improved than current algorithm.

  • This paper proposes the parallel operation control algorithm of a power conditioning system (PCS) for a distributed Fuel Cell power generation system. A proposed control algorithm is made good a drawback of the conventional control algorithm. The controller must also supervise the total PCS operation while communicating with the fuel cell system controller. Simulation results are presented to performance of a proposed control algorithm for the PCS.
