Expermental Studies of quantitative evaluation using HPLC (봉독침의 봉독함량분석)

  • Methods : This study was conducted to carry out quantitative evaluation using HPLC Content analysis was done using HPLC Results : According to HPLC analysis, each BVA-1 contained approximately $0.36{\mu}g$ melittin, and BVA-2 contained approximately $0.54{\mu}g$ melittin. But the volume of coating was so minute, slight difference exists between each needle. Conclusions : Above results indicate that the bee venom acupuncture can complement shortcomings of syringe usage as a part of Oriental medicine treatment, but extensive researches should be done for further verification.

PIV Measurements of the Pressure Driven Flow Inside a T-Shaped Microchannel Junction (T헝 마이크로채널 연결부 압력구동 유동의 PIV계측)

  • A custom micro-PIV optics assembly has been used to measure the flow fold inside a T-junction of a microchannel. The micro-PIV system consists of microscope objectives of various magnifications, a dichroic cube, and an 8-bit CCD camera. Fluorescent particles of diameters 620 nm have been used with a Nd:YAG laser and color filters. A programmable syringe pump with Teflon tubings were used to inject particle-seeded distilled water into the channel at flow rates of 2.0, 4.0, 6.0 mL/hr. The micro-channels are fabricated with PDMS with a silicon mold, then O$_{2}$ -ion bonded onto a slide glass. Results show differences in flow characteristics and resolution according to fluid injection rates, and magnifications, respectively. The results include PIV data with vector-to-vector distances of 2 $\mu$m with 32 pixel-square interrogation windows at 50$\%$ overlap.

  • The effect of periodic blowing and suction of upstream flow on the separated shear flow behind the vertical fence was experimentally investigated. The fence was submerged in the turbulent shear flow and DPIV method was used to measure the instantaneous velocity fields around the fence. Periodic blowing and suction flow was precisely generated by the syringe pump. Spanwise nozzle made 2D planar periodic jet flow in front of the fence and the effect of frequency and maximum jet velocity was studied. From the results, the reattachment length can be reduced by 60% of uncontrolled fence case under the control.

  • Cold blood potassium cardioplegia, by two types of the infusion systems, was used in 45 patients who were undergone the open cardiac operation. Method A [in 25 patients] was the syringe infusion system and method B [in 20 patients] was the pump infusion system. Cold blood potassium cardioplegic solution was used less amount on method B than method A. Serum potassium was often increased significantly on method A as a result of excessive infusion of cold blood potassium cardioplegic solution. But method B, excessive infusion of cold blood potassium cardioplegic solution was prevented by reperfusion of the previous infused cold blood potassium cardioplegic solution through the recirculation system. Alteration of infused rate and concentration of potassium in cold blood potassium cardioplegic solution during infusion [which might be suggested on the method A] could be controlled on method B.

  • The use of epidural narcotics to treat cancer pain was first described by Behar et al in 1979. More recently, a variety of implantable INDSs have been described for long-term intraspinal narcotic administration. Especially, among these systems INDS typeIII which is designed by Poletti et al is relatively low cost and less risk of infection, therefore this system has been widely accepted but the clinical experience is insufficient yet. 1, Problems, 1) thorough education of patients and care-givers about this system the method of drug delivery and the situations could be happen in using this system. 2) high cost of continuous drug delivery system 3) legal problems about morphine carry-out in the case of bolus infusion by syringe 1. Complications; 1) by morphine; Significant respiratory depression was not found in all 21cases. other morphine-related complications were occurred occasionally but improved within a few days by appropriate treatment. 2) by system, Blockage or leakage of catheter was occurred in 2cases and wound infection was occurred in 2cases and so reimplantation was done.

  • 몬테카를로 기법을 기반으로 한 모의실험을 통해 방사성 핵종별 주사기 차폐기구의 재질 및 두께에 대한 차폐분석 결과, 텅스텐, 납, 비스무스 경우 가장 높은 차폐효과를 보였다. 그러나 $^{18}F$ 선원의 경우, 차폐두께가 낮은 영역에서 저 원자번호 재질보다 더 높은 에너지를 나타냈으나, 이후 증가된 차폐두께에서는 더 낮은 에너지 분포를 나타냈다. 그 외 재질의 경우 구리, 철, 스테인리스 강, 황산바륨의 순서로 에너지가 낮은 분포를 나타냈고, 알루미늄, 플라스틱, 콘크리트, 물의 경우 핵종별로 각기 다른 양상을 나타냈으며, 상대적으로 감마선의 투과의 증가로 인해 전체적으로 차폐효과가 떨어지는 것으로 나타냈다.

  • Micro planar type liquid propellant thruster was fabricated by MEMS manufacturing process for micro/nano satellites applications. 90 wt.% hydrogen peroxide was used as propellant and for propellant decomposition, Pt/Al2O3 was used as catalyst. Micro thruster structure was made by 5 photosensitive glasses patterned with thruster component profiles. Objective thrust was 50 mN and required hydrogen peroxide mass flow was 2.1 ml/min, which was supplied by syringe pump and teflon tube in experimental test. Performance test said that average steady thrust was approximately 30 mN, around 60% of objective thrust, and transient time was about 5 sec. It is estimated that extended response time was due to high thermal energy loss of micro scale thruster and low enthalpy input by propellant mass flow.

  • Subcutaneous cervicofacial, mediastinal emphysemas are complications associated with head and neck surgery, trauma, infectious processes, tooth extraction. Drill cooling stream and dental syringe air ject are the sources of high pressure air that may enter exposed soft tissue. Since the introduction of the high-speed air turbine drill in the 1960s, The incidence of iatrogenic subcutaneous emphysema has increased. Most cases begin to resolve after 2 to 3 days and residual swelling is usually minimal at the end of 7 to 10 days. Surgical approach is not advised because it is likely to be ineffective. The differential diagnosis of neck swelling after dental procedure includes hematoma, cellulitis, angioedema, allergic reaction, subcutaneous emphysema. We report a rare case of patient with subcutaneous cervicofacial emphysema and mediastinal emphysema secondary to third molar extraction.

  • Survey of the infection rate of Dirofilaria immitis in Korean dogs was made in Chunju area by means of Kume's Aectone-Concentrating method. During the period of 60 days(July August) 1cc of the blood was collected from Vena mediana antebrachii of each of 205 dogs over the age of one year regardless of its sex.(In this case 2cc syringe was used.) Time for collecting the blood was from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The collected blood was checked, using Kume's acetone-concentrating method.: The results were summarized as followings. Microfilaria was detected in 47 dogs(23%) out of 205. Based on the dog's age, microfilaria possitive rate is 15.5% (12 dogs out of 77) at one age; 24%(14 dogs out of 59) at the age of two; 28%(12 dogs out of 43) at the age of three; 5%(5 dogs out of 15) at the age of four.

Adsorption Kinetics of Carrier-Free Yttrium-90 on Membrane Filters (막여과지에 대한 이트륨-90의 흡착 반응속도에 관한 연구)

  • The adsorption kinetics on a membrane filter have been studied by an introduction of acid or alkali in yttrium-90 solution. The change of the adsorption in the filtration process was determined by the filtrate activities with using a microsyringe filter holder connected with a syringe. The over all reaction rate obeyed a reversible first order reaction, and the rate constants thus obtained, showed the values of $k_1$ = 0.12 $sec^{-1}$ and $k_1'$ = 0.039 $sec^{-1}$. As a result of the present studies, it would be reasonable that the rate determining step of the adsorption reaction was the hydrolysis reaction of the adsorbed yttrium ions.
