  • 합성가스를 이용한 충돌제트 버너에서 신장된 예혼합 화염의 열전달 특성에 관한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 석탄을 가스화하는 과정에서 추출되는 수소와 일산화탄소를 혼합한 합성가스를 연료로 사용하였다. 정체점에서의 열유속은 전체 신장율이 증가함에 따라 증가하다 다시 감소하는 것이 관찰되었다. 또한 정체점에서의 열유속이 노즐로부터 충돌판까지 거리가 증가함에 따라 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 석탄에서 발생하는 부생가스의 주성분인 수소와 일산화탄소를 실용화하는 연구 중 기초 연구이다.

  • Increasing demand for natural gas and higher natural gas prices in the recent decades have led many people to pursue unconventional methods of natural gas production. POSCO-Gwangyang synthetic natural gas (SNG) project was launched in 2010. As the market price of natural gas goes up, the increase of its price gets more sensitive due to the high cost of transportation and liquefaction. This project can make the SNG economically viable. In parallel with this project, KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) joined in launching the SNG Quality Standard Bureau along with KOGAS (Korea Gas Corporation), POSCO and so on. KEPCO Research Institute is in charge of SNG fueled gas turbine combustion test. In this research, several combustion tests were conducted to find out the effect of hydrogen contents in SNG on gas turbine combustion. The hydrogen in synthetic natural gas did not affect on gas turbine combustion characteristics which are turbine inlet temperature including pattern factor and emission performance. However, flame stable region in ${\Phi}$-Air flow rate map was shifted to the lean condition due to autocatalytic effect of hydrogen.

석탄가스화 연료의 정적 예혼합 연소특성 (Premixed Combustion Characteristics of Coal Gasification Fuel in Constant Volume Combustion Chamber)

  • The coal gasification fuel is important to replace petroleum fuel. Also they have many benefits for reducing the air pollution. Measurements on the combustion characteristics of synthetic gas from coal gasification have been conducted as compared with LPG in constant volume combustion chamber. The fuel is low caloric synthetic gas containing carbon monoxide 30%, hydrogen 20%, carbon dioxide 5%, and nitrogen 45%. To elucidate the combustion characteristics of the coal gasification fuel, the combustion pressures, combustion durations, and pollutants(NOx, $CO_2$, CO) are measured with equivalence ratios($\phi$), and initial pressures of fuel-air mixture in constant volume chamber. In the case of the coal gasification fuel, maximum combustion pressure and NOx concentration are lower rather than LPG fuel. However CO and $CO_2$ emission concentration are similar to that of LPG fuel.

  • This paper presents both experimental and numerical investigation of the combustion characteristics of stretched premixed lift-off flames using synthetic gas($H_2$/CO) in an impinging burner. We used "Spin code" for numerical analysis. An ICCD camera was employed to measure flame location and flame thickness. The impinging surface temperature was affected by local strain rate K, equivalence ratio, and composition ratio of fuel. In spite of the difference of boundary conditions in experimental and numerical results, the tendencies of surface temperatures were agreed. From result of this work, we also found that flame location and flame thickness directly related to surface temperature are greatly affected by local strain rate K.

  • In order to develop a gas circuit breaker (GCB), the breaking performance of the short line fault (SLF) should be prioritized over that of the breaker terminal fault (BTF). In brief, it is necessary to evaluate the thermal characteristics of the insulating gas that is filled in a GCB. In the process of developing a GCB, many companies use the simplified synthetic testing facility (SSTF).In order to evaluate the SLF breaking performance of a GCB with a long minimum arcing time, a modifications to the conventional SSTF was proposed. In this study, we developed the SSTF with a modified transient recovery voltage circuit. The performance of the newly developed SSTF was verified by an $L_{90}$ breaking performance test on a rating combination of 170 kV, 50 kA, and 60 Hz.

  • This paper examines the insulation performance of synthetic air and dry air. This examination was conducted based on dielectric strength in uniform and non-uniform field, electric field distribution by interior structure and defects in gas insulation switchgear (GIS) and insulation performance in different temperatures. From this review, it was found that eco-insulation gas required to possess low moisture content for power equipment in the distribution class. The results of this paper are valuable to ensure the insulation design and insulation reliability of GIS using air.

가솔린 엔진에서 합성가스 첨가량에 따른 EGR 효과에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of EGR with Syngas Addition in a Gasoline Engine)

  • The purpose of this study is to reduce harmful emission gases in the range of stable combustion without loss of a thermal efficiency. Therefore, effects of both exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) and synthetic gas addition on engine performance and emission were investigated in a gasoline engine. Synthetic gas(syngas), which is in general prepared from reforming gasoline, was utilized in order to promote stable combustion. The major components of syngas are H2, CO and $N_2$ gases. The percentage of syngas addition was changed from 0 to 30% in energy fraction and EGR rate was varied up to 30%. As a result, $COV_{IMEP}$ as a parameter of combustion stability was decreased and THC/$NO_X$ emissions were reduced with the increase of syngas addition. And $COV_{IMEP}$ was increased with the increase of EGR but $NO_X$ emission was greatly reduced. In addition, under the region where the EGR rate is around 20%, thermal efficiency was improved.

$SF_6$ 가스차단기의 아크저항에 관한 연구 (A Study On The Arc Resistance of $SF_6$ Gas Circuit Breaker)

  • [ $SF_6$ ] gas circuit breakers are widely used for short circuit current interruption in EHV(Extra High Voltage) or UHV(Ultra High Voltage) power systems. To develop $SF_6$ gas circuit breakers, the arc resistance value is necessary to compare experimental results to numerical ones. The arc resistance value can be obtained from a breaking test with a $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker. The direct testing or synthetic testing facility is widely used to verify the breaking ability for $SF_6$ gas circuit breakers. We employed the simplified synthetic testing facility to test a $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker prototype. The arc resistance characteristic was measured and calculated under the various experimental conditions. This arc resistance value can be used for verifying the numerical results from arc simulation in a circuit breakers.

CNG엔진에서 합성가스 연료의 연소 및 배기 특성 평가 (Characteristics of Combustion and Emission for Synthetic Natural Gas in CNG Engine)

  • 합성가스(SNG)는 석탄 가스화를 통하여 얻어지는 가스연료로서, 고유가로 인한 천연가스가격 상승을 대비할 수 있는 대체연료 중의 하나로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 메탄 90.95%, 프로판 6.05%와 수소 3%의 조성비를 갖는 SNG연료 모사가스와 압축천연가스 (CNG)를 11리터 급 CNG 엔진에 적용하여 연소 및 배기 특성을 비교실험 하였다. 연료공급시스템, 분사시기 등 엔진의 연소제어인자를 일정하게 하고 전부하 운전조건에서 엔진회전수 변화에 따른 출력, 열효율, 연소 안정성 및 배기특성을 비교하였다. 1260rpm, 전부하 운전조건에서 노킹특성도 분석하였다. SNG 연료를 사용했을 때 출력 저하 없이 연소안정성이 향상되어 열효율이 증가하였다. 질소산화물($NO_x$)의 배출은 CNG연료의 경우에 비해 증가되었으나 이산화탄소($CO_2$)의 배출은 감소하였다. SNG 연료를 이용하여 운전할 경우 내노킹성이 향상되었다.

폐타이어 및 폐합성수지류의 건류가스화 특성 (Pyrolytic Gasification Characteristics of Waste Tires and Waste Synthetic Resins)

  • 본 연구에서는 150kg/batch(승용차용 타이어 기준) 규모의 건류가스화 장치를 이용하여 페타이어와 7종류의 폐합성수지에 대한 건류가스화 실험을 폐기물 종류별 건류가스화 특성을 파악하고, 건류시간 및 1차 공기량에 따른 건류가스의 발생량과 성분 조성 등의 변화 경향등을 분석하였다. 페타이어의 경우 반응기 내부에서 연소영역과 가스화 영역의 뚜렷한 구별이 확인되었고, 건류용 1차 공기량에 대해 1.05~1.35 배의 비율로 발생되는 생성가스는 비가연성성분 이외에 CO, $H_2$, $C_1$~$C_7$ 범위의 탄화수소로 구성되었으며, 정상상태에서는 1.500~300 kcal/N$\textrm{m}^3$. 종말처리 단계에서는 250~500kcal/N$\textrm{m}^3$의 발영량을 각각 나타냈다. 페합성 수지류는 생성가스의 온도변화가 심하고, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $O_2$의 구성비율이 85%이상인 건류생성가스는 원료폐기물이 가진 열량의 10~35%에 해당하는 300~2,900kcal/N$\textrm{m}^3$ kcal/Nm의 발열량을 보유하였다.
