  • In this paper, we developed an automated program for the modeling and manufacturing of three-dimensional roller gear cams. A computer program employing the theory of gearing and coordinate transformation is developed for synthesizing and animating cam mechanisms. Then a module for generation NC program for a five-axis CNC machine to manufacture roller gear cam is established.

  • In case of hard turning, tool wear is acclerated by heat. So we intend to decrease tool wear by using an air-jet cooling system. Before constructing the air-jet cooling system, no chipping conditions were selected through a statistical method, so called 'Taguchi method', and then the air-jet cooling system was developed by synthesizing and analyzing the results of experimental data through Taguchi method. The air-jet cooling system actually reduced flank wear of TiN coated tool by 25%.

  • In this paper, we developed an automated program for the modeling and manufacturing of three-dimensional roller gear cams. A computer program employing the theory of gearing and coordinate transformation is developed for synthesizing and animating cam mechanisms. A method using wire frame modeling and shading by triangular element is presented, and effectively used for modeling of example with reduced computation time. Then a module for generation NC program for a five-axis CMC machine to manufacture roller gear cam is established.

  • A component, $C_{20}H_{32}O_3$, m.p. $207.5^{\circ}$, was isolated from Siegesbeckia pubescens $M_{AKINO}$. This compound was identified as $17-hydroxy-16{\beta}-(-)-kauran-19-oic\;acid$, using spectroscopies and synthesizing various derivatives of the compound.

  • This paper explores the perceptual relevance of acoustical correlates of emotional speech by using formant synthesizer. The focus is on the role of mean pitch, pitch range, speed rate and phonation type when it comes to synthesizing emotional speech. The result of this research is backing up the traditional impressionistic observations. However it suggests that some phonation types should be synthesized with further refinement.

  • Graphene is a fascinating material with excellent electrical, optical, mechanical, and chemical properties. Remarkable progress has been made in the development of methods for synthesizing large-area, high-quality graphene. Recently, the chemical vapor deposition method has opened up the possibility of using graphene for electronic devices and other applications. This review covers simple and inexpensive methods to grow graphene using polymers as solid carbon sources; which do not require an additional process to transfer graphene from the growth substrate to the receiver substrate.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for technology-dependent logic optimization and technology mapping, and describes a performance-driven logic synthesis system, SILOS, implemented based on the proposed algorithm. The system analyzes circuits and resynthesizes the critical sections such that generated circuit operates opertes within time constraints, using only gate types supported by library for direct implementation. Experimental results show that the system can be a viable tool in synthesizing high-performance logic circuits.

  • A new method is presented for the synthesis of lossy tapered transmission line having presecribed frequency characteristic in the passband. The theory of lossy case extends lossless cases suggested by Klopfenstein and others, and a special optimization process based on the Fourier transfrom pair and generalized Taylor's procedure is proposed for exact designs of frequency-dependent and distance-dependent lossy tapered line. The process is achieved by control of zero points of lobe-like input reflection coefficient. The validity of the suggested method is confirmed by synthesizing a lossy microstrip transformer and analyzing the simulation results.

  • An ultrasonic linear motor was composed of a slider and a stator vibrator including piezoelectric material and elastic material. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic oscillator which generates elliptical oscillations. Elliptical oscillations are generated by synthesizing two degenerated modes. The design of a stator for an Ultrasonic linear motor was optimized with respect to vibration mode and direction of vibratory displacement by employing the finite element method. The motors were designed by varying the width of stator vibrator and the thickness, the length and the position of piezoceramics.
