  • In stereoscopic television, there is a trade-off between visual comfort and 3-dimensional (3D) impact with respect to the baseline-stretch of a 3DTV camera. It is necessary to adjust the baseline-stretch at an appropriate the distance depending on the contents of a scene if we want to obtain a subjectively optimal quality of an image. However, it is very hard to obtain a small baseline-stretch using commercially available cameras of broadcasting quality where the sizes of the lens and CCD module are large. In order to overcome this limitation, we attempt to freely control the baseline-stretch of a stereoscopic camera by synthesizing the virtual views at the desired location of interval between two cameras. This proposed technique is based on the stereo matching and view synthesis techniques. We first obtain a dense disparity map using a hierarchical stereo matching with the edge-adaptive multiple shifted windows. Then, we synthesize the virtual views using the disparity map. Simulation results with various stereoscopic images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

  • Natural synthesis of real and virtual images is a key technology in mixed reality. For this purpose, we propose an efficient dense disparity estimation algorithm and a synthesis algorithm considering features of stereo images. Dense disparities are estimated hierarchically from the low to high resolution images. In the process, the region-dividing-bidirectional-matching algorithm makes matching process efficient and keeps the reliability of the estimated disparities, and dense disparities are assigned considering edge information. finally, mixed reality stereo images are synthesized by comparing depth data of real and virtual Images. Computer simulation shows that the proposed algorithms estimate very stable disparity vectors with sharp edge and synthesize natural stereo mixed reality images.

  • Recent advances in the media have no special change is the development of the 3D stereoscopic image, which started in the movie is coming over now to the broadcast. Confusing variety having, in the production of 3D images that are waiting for the standardized production. 3D images of them being used in broadcast subtitles, first because there is no standardized production systems, making it look is dedicated to the time and effort. This research necessary to create 3D images of these subtitles, titles, text-based objects, such as Rig imaging using a standardized way to synthesize the most stable is proposed. • As there is a growing tendency to represent the 3D content instead of the 2D content, researches for the stereoscopic image and video are under way in a variety of fields such as acquisition compression, transmission, authoring and display. The authoring technique for stereoscopic contents has given emphasis to virtual stereoscopic contents. Thus the authoring technique for stereoscopic pictures is insufficient. When we compose a stereo scene with stereoscopic pictures, stereoscopic contents may not match the stereo scene because each stereoscopic picture may have different camera condition. To solve this problem, stereoscopic pictures have been modified manually. It is a laborious work and will be spent much time. Also it is difficult for a user who does not have an elementary knowledge of stereopsis. In this paper, we propose the synthesis method to compose a natural stereo scene with stereoscopic still pictures and moving pictures. Experimental results show that the proposed method in this paper allows a user to synthesize stereoscopic contents easily and compose a stereo scene conveniently.

  • Students and other new readers of modernist poetry often experience difficulty with the influential early work of Ezra Pound. Although these typically brief poems may appear (deceptively) simple, an understanding of the relationship between Imagism and Vorticism is crucial to reading-or teaching-them effectively, which in turn requires significant familiarity with relevant poetics theories as well as representative poems. This essay clarifies the complex relations Imagism and Vorticism as two distinct styles that are too often conflated to the detriment of an accurate understanding of either one (and, in consequence, of the later modernist poetry that builds on their discoveries). In order to elucidate the modernists' justification of free verse over traditional metrical composition, I begin with an elaboration of T. E. Hulme's 1911 theory of the "cheerful, dry, and sophisticated" modern classicism on which both Imagism and Vorticism were largely predicated, developing Hulme's important distinction between the version of classicism that is "static" (and gives rise to Imagism) and the one that is "dynamic" (and leads to Vorticism and beyond it). In the following two sections, I draw upon and synthesize a broad range of Pound's own poetics statements to reveal the evolution of first sound ("melopoeia") and then the image ("phanopoeia") throughout his early work. Although the body of this article is analytical and historical in nature, it concludes with a practical template prompt for a creative response assignment, appropriate to undergraduate and graduate students, designed to help new readers recognize for themselves how Vorticist art works and why it matters.

  • This paper proposes a two-stage Water Shield Automation System (WSAS) to predict the possibility of river overflow and vehicle flooding due to sudden rainfall. The WSAS uses a two-stage Deep Neural Network (DNN) model. First, a river overflow prediction module is designed with LSTM to decide whether the river is flooded by predicting the river's water level rise. Second, a vehicle flooding prediction module predicts flooding of underground parking lots by detecting flooded tires with YOLOv5 from CCTV images. Finally, the WSAS automatically installs the water barrier whenever the river overflow and vehicle flooding events happen in the underground parking lots. The only constraint to implementing is that collecting training data for flooded vehicle tires is challenging. This paper exploits the Image C&S data augmentation technique to synthesize flooded tire images. Experimental results validate the superiority of WSAS by showing that the river overflow prediction module can reduce RMSE by three times compared with the previous method, and the vehicle flooding detection module can increase mAP by 20% compared with the naive detection method, respectively.

  • This paper presents a method that estimates face pose for a given face image and synthesizes any posed face images using Active Appearance Model(AAM). The AAM that having been successfully applied to various applications is an example-based learning model and learns the variations of training examples. However, with a single model, it is difficult to handle large pose variations of face images. This paper proposes to build a model covering only a small range of angle for each pose. Then, with a proper model for a given face image, we can achieve accurate pose estimation and synthesis. In case of the model used for pose estimation was not trained with the angle to synthesize, we solve this problem by training the linear relationship between the models in advance. In the experiments on Yale B public face database, we present the accurate pose estimation and pose synthesis results. For our face database having large pose variations, we demonstrate successful frontal pose synthesis results.

  • We present a method for creating realistic 2D stick figure animations easily and rapidly using captured motion data. Stick figure animations are typically created by drawing a single pose for each frame manually for the entire time interval. In contrast, our method allows the user to summarize an action (e.g. kick, jump) for an extended period of time into a single image in which one or more action lines are drawn over a stick figure to represent the moving directions of body parts. In order to synthesize a series of time-varying poses automatically from the given image, our system first builds a deformable character model that can make arbitrary deformations of the user's stick figure drawing in 2D plane. Then, the system searches for an optimal motion segment that best fits the given pose and action lines from pre-recorded motion database. Deforming the character model to imitate the retrieved motion segment produces the final stick figure animation. We demonstrate the usefulness of our method in creating interesting stick figure animations with little effort through experiments using a variety of stick figure styles and captured motion data.

  • This study is to design the transmitter and receiver of short range UWB(Ultra Wide Band) imaging radar that is able to display high resolution radar image for front area of a UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle). This radar can help a UGV to navigate autonomously as it detects and avoids obstacles through foliage. The transmitter needs two transmitters to improve the azimuth resolution. Multi-channel receivers are required to synthesize radar image. Transmitter consists of high power amplifier, channel selection switch, and waveform generator. Receiver is composed of sixteen channel receivers, receiver channel converter, and frequency down converter, Before manufacturing it, the proposed architecture of transceiver is proved by modeling and simulation using several parameters. Then, it was manufactured by using industrial RF(Radio Frequency) components and all other measured parameters in the specification were satisfied as well.

  • This paper proposes a technique for counting construction materials by analyzing an image acquired by a Drone. The proposed technique use drone log which includes drone and camera information, RCNN for predicting construction material type, dummy area and Photogrammetry for counting the number of construction material. The existing research has large error ranges for predicting construction material detection and material dummy area, because of a lack of training data. To reduce the error ranges and improve prediction stability, this paper increases the training data with a method of data augmentation, but only uses rotated training data for data augmentation to prevent overfitting of the training model. For the quantity calculation, we use a drone log containing drones and camera information such as Yaw and FOV, RCNN model to find the pile of building materials in the image and to predict the type. And we synthesize all the information and apply it to the formula suggested in the paper to calculate the actual quantity of material pile. The superiority of the proposed method is demonstrated through experiments.
