Effect of Customer-acquisition Orientation on Salespeople's Performance in Distribution of Pharmaceuticals

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate sales managers' strategic focus on customer acquisition, specifically its effect on salespeople's performance. In addition, this study aimed to determine how salespeople's interpersonal skills, salesmanship skills, and technical knowledge affect the relationship between customer-acquisition management and salespeople's performance. Research design, data, and methodology: This study conducted a survey of 310 salespeople working at pharmaceutical companies. A structural equation modeling approach was applied to test the main effects and interaction effects using AMOS. Results: The results indicated that both managers' customer-acquisition orientation and salespeople's salesmanship skills and technical knowledge positively affected the latter's performance. Further, it was found that the higher the technical knowledge of the salesperson, the greater the effect of the customer-acquisition orientation on sales performance. Conclusions: Sales managers should enable salespeople to quickly acquire technical knowledge with respect to the market, products, competitors, and company policy so that they can bring greater synergy to the customer-acquisition orientation.

국내 제약산업의 합병효과 분석 (Efficiency Effects of Mergers in the Korean Pharmaceutical Industry)

  • The main objective of this paper is to empirically analyze the efficiency effects of mergers on Korean pharmaceutical firms and suggests managerial or policy implications for managers or policy makers. This study selects non-merging control firms close to the size of merging firms, as well as a set of merging firms, and measures the effects of mergers on efficiency three years before and after the merger using the non-parametric data envelopment analysis (DEA) method. To compare the differences of efficiency means among several groups, Wilcoxon rank sum test or Wilcoxon signed rank test is used. It showed that the long-term effects after the merger appeared partially. Furthermore, it was observed that there was no difference statistically in the efficiency between merging and non-merging firms. Also, there was no difference statistically in the efficiency between the pre- and post-merger periods. In conclusion, there was not any observed synergy effect through group (or affiliated) mergers between affiliates or related mergers for Korean pharmaceutical firms.

세드롤과 콜라겐 유래 펩타이드의 피부노화 개선효과 (Anti-aging Effects of Cedrol and Collagen-derived Peptide)

  • 피부 노화는 피부 표면에 나타나는 현상으로 피부 표면의 미세구조와 연관이 있다. 피부 미세구조의 변화는 주름형성, 피부 톤 저하 등 다양한 피부 노화 현상을 유발하는 요인이 된다. 본 연구는 주름 기능성 성분인 세드롤(Cedrol)과 콜라겐 유래 펩타이드 성분을 이용하여 시험관 수준(in vitro)에서 타입III 콜라겐 합성 시너지 효과를 평가하였다. 여성 피시험자를 대상으로 4주 동안 상기 원료가 함유된 크림제품을 사용한 후 피부 미세구조, 스타 형상(star configurations), 보습, 탄력, 피부 밝기, 윤기, 피부 톤, 투명도를 평가하였다. 시험관 수준의 세드롤과 펩타이드를 동시에 처리하면 우수한 수준의 타입III 콜라겐 합성 시너지효과를 나타내었다. 그리고 크림제형을 이용한 인체적용 시험에서는 사용 4주 후부터 피부 미세구조, 스타형상, 윤기, 피부 톤, 보습, 탄력을 개선시켰으나, 피부 밝기 개선 효능은 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구를 통하여 기존 주름 기능성 성분인 세드롤과 콜라겐 유래 펩타이드는 세포 수준에서 타입III 콜라겐 합성 시너지 효과가 있음을 확인하였고 이를 화장품에 적용하여 시험한 결과 피부 노화 개선에 도움을 주는 성분임을 확인하였다.

  • Background: Ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii has been increasing and growing as a threat in intensive care units. Limited therapeutic options have forced clinicians to choose colistin with or without combination of other antibiotics. We tried to compare the effectiveness between colistin monotherapy and combination therapy based on in vitro synergistic tests. Methods: From January 2006 to December 2007 in medical ICU of a tertiary care hospital in Korea, We reviewed the medical records of patients treated with intravenous colistin due to ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. Results: A total of 41 patients were analyzed. 22 patients had been treated with colistin monotherapy and 19 patients with colistin and combination antibiotics that were found to have in vitro synergistic effects. Baseline characteristics were similar in both groups but the mean duration of colistin administration was significantly longer in the combination group (19.1${\pm}$11.2 days vs. 12.3${\pm}$6.8 days, p=0.042). There were no significant differences in outcome variables between the two groups. Conclusion: Combination treatment based on the in vitro antimicrobial synergy test did not show better outcomes compared with colistin monotherapy in VAP caused by multi-drug resistant A. baumannii.

Synergy effect for performance of anionic SDS/ADS mixtures with amphoteric and nonionic surfactants

  • Detergency and surface active properties of mixed anionic surfactants with amphoteric and nonionic were investigated. Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and ammonium dodecyl sulfate (ADS) as anionic surfactants and cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) as an amphoteric surfactant were used. Nonionic surfactants, which are butyl glucoside (BG), octyl glucoside (OG), decyl glucoside (DG), lauryl dimethylamine oxide (AO) and saponin were also used. To study the synergy effects of mixed SDS/ADS anionic surfactant systems, amphoteric and nonionic surfactants were added into the mixed anionic surfactants. Investigated properties of surfactant mixtures were critical micelle concentration (CMC), surface tension (${\gamma}$), wettability. In addition, based on these properties, detergency of each sample was examined. Surfactant mixtures are anionics (SDS/ADS), anionic/amphoteric/nonionic (SDS/ADS/CAPB/saponin), and anionic/nonionic (SDS/ADS/BG/saponin, SDS/ADS/OG/saponin, SDS/ADS/DG/saponin, and SDS/ADS/AO/saponin). With the addition of amphoteric and nonionic to mixed anionic surfactants, CMC and ${\gamma}$ were decreased. Addition of CAPB, which is amphoteric, showed the best property at CMC and ${\gamma}$. Furthermore, as the chain length of hydrocarbon in alkyl glucosides was increased, the CMC and ${\gamma}$ were enhanced. However, the wettability did not exactly match up with CMC and ${\gamma}$. The surfactant mixture, which contained DG, showed the best performance at wetting time. Detergency was measured at various temperatures ($15^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$). The cleaning performance was enhanced by increasing washing temperature. Moreover, detergency was influenced by not only CMC and ${\gamma}$ but also wettability. Although CMC and ${\gamma}$ were not minimum at surfactant mixture that included DG, the best cleaning performance showed in that sample.

철도구조개혁 성과분석 -운영비용을 중심으로- (Effect Analysis of Structural Reform of Korea Railroad - Focusing on Comparison of Operating Cost -)

  • 1980년 이후부터 철도산업은 지속적인 경영적자률 기록하였고, 1990년대 이후부터는 수송량의 감소를 가져왔으며 그에 따라 철도 구조개혁을 실사하였다. 철도구조개혁을 실사한 선진국의 경우 철도시설과 운영을 분리한 원칙에서는 우리나라의 경우와 크게 차이가 없지만 각 국가마다 처한 상황에 따라 그 성과가 다양한 결과를 나타내고 있다. 2004년 구조개혁 이후 변화된 정책에 따라 기존에 비하여 어느 정도 성과가 이루어졌는지에 대해서는 연구가 이루어 지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 비용함수률 통하여 구조 개혁 전후의 비용구조를 알아보고 구조개혁의 성과를 트랜스로그 함수를 사용하여 분석하였다. 비용함수를 통한 분석결과 우려나라 철도에는 규모의 정제가 존재하며 평균수송거리 증가에 따라서도 평균비용이 감소하는 효과를 나타내고 있으며 구조개혁 이전과 이후의 모형을 비교한 결과 구조개혁 이후 평균 비용이 더 적은 것으로 나타났다. 구조개혁 이후 비용구조가 더 나아졌음을 알 수 있었다. 구조개혁과 거의 동시에 KTX의 투입이 발생하면서 두가지 효과가 사너지 효과률 가져와서 구조개혁의 성과률 더 크게 가져온 것으로 추정이 되며 구조개혁 이후에 효율적인 운영으로 인하여 비용이 절감된 것을 알 수 있었다.

폐교 부지 및 건축물을 이용한 도서관의 대피시설로서 활용 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Utilizing the Site and Building of Closed School as Evacuation Facilities for the Library)

  • 본 연구는 국내에서도 도서관이 대피시설로서 활용될 수 있다는 점을 해외사례를 바탕으로 탐구하여, 기존에 건축된 도서관이 대피시설로서의 역할과 기능을 강화할 뿐 아니라, 대피시설 지정·운영 기준에 부합하는 도서관을 건축 또는 리모델링이 필요함을 제안하였다. 건축 또는 리모델링 시 경제적 효율성과 지역적 효과를 추구하기 위해 폐교를 활용할 것을 제시하였으며, 이러한 제안의 실효성을 검토하기 위해서 충주시 내 대피시설 및 폐교 현황을 확인하고, 대피소의 수용능력을 기준으로 폐교를 평가하였다. 본 연구에서 대피시설의 조건을 갖춘 도서관으로서 활용하는 방안을 제안하기 위한 논의점은 크게 3가지 측면으로, ① 도서관이 대피시설로서 어떠한 기능과 역할을 수행하고 있는지를 재확인하고, 도서관이 대피시설로 활용될 때 얻을 수 있는 이점을 탐구하였다. ② 이러한 도서관의 역할과 폐교가 만나서 실제 어떠한 시너지를 발생시킬 수 있는지를 검토 및 논의하였으며, ③ 기존 건축물을 대피시설로 지정하는 것이 아닌, 신축 내지 리모델링이 필요한 이유와 폐교를 활용하면 추가적으로 얻을 수 있는 이점과 효과는 어떠한지를 제시하였다.

대황견우산(大黃牽牛散) 에탄올 추출물의 Methicillin 내성 Staphylococcus aureus에 대한 항균활성 연구 (A Study on Antibacterial Activity of Daehwanggeonwoo-san(Dahwangqianniu-san) Ethanol Extract against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)

  • Objectives The objective of this study is to determine the antimicrobial effect of Daehwanggyeonu-san(Dahwangqianniu-san,DGE) and synergistic effects with antibiotics oxacillin, ampicillin, and gentamicin against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA). Methods The antibacterial activity of DGE extract was evaluated againest MRSA strains by using the Disc diffusion method, broth microdilution method(minimal inhibitory concentration; MIC), checkerboard dilution test. The checkerboard dilution test was used to examined synergetic effect of oxacillin, ampicillin, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin with DGE extract. Results DGE showed antimicrobial activity against MRSA with an MIC value of $125{\sim}250{\mu}g/mL$. In the checkerboard test, the interation of DGE with all tested antibiotics produced almost synergy or partial synergy against MRSA. Conclusions This study shows that DGE reduced the MICs of several antibiotics tested, and a remarkable antibacterial effect of DGE, with membrane permeability enhancers and ATP synthase inhibitors. This study can be a valuable source for the development of a new drug with low MRSA resistance.

AA1100의 부식에 미치는 Na2S, NaCl, H2O2 농도의 영향 (Effects of Na2S, NaCl, and H2O2 Concentrations on Corrosion of Aluminum)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the corrosion behavior of aluminum (AA1100) in a mixed solution of 0 ~ 0.1 g/L Na2S + 0.3 ~ 3 g/L NaCl + 0 ~ 10 mL/L H2O2. Potentiodynamic polarization tests were performed. Effects of solution compositions on corrosion potential, corrosion rate, and pitting potential of aluminum were statistically analyzed with a regression model. Results suggested that localized corrosion susceptibility of aluminum was increased in the solution with increasing concentration of NaCl because the pitting potential was lowered linearly with increasing NaCl concentration. On the contrary, H2O2 mitigated the galvanic corrosion of aluminum by increasing the corrosion potential. It also mitigated localized corrosion by increasing the pitting potential of aluminum. Na2S did not exert a noticeable effect on the corrosion of aluminum. These effects of different chemical species at various concentrations were independent of each other. Synergy or offset effect was not observed.

육수 개발을 위한 수조육류 및 부재료의 최적 배합비율에 관한 연구 (Study on Appropriate Mixing Ratios of Various Animal Meats with Other Ingredients to Improve the Palatability of Stock)

  • The objective of this study was to develop a stock that can be used to make a variety of dishes. For this, stock was prepared with beef, chicken, and pork meat as animal meats as well as anchovy, mushroom, and sea tangle as other ingredients. The qualities of six[only four though] kinds of stocks made with beef only (B), beef and chicken (BC), beef and pork (BP), and beef added with chicken and pork (BCP), and seven kinds of stocks made with anchovy (A), mushroom (M), sea tangle (S), anchovy and mushroom (AM), anchovy and sea tangle (AS), mushroom and sea tangle (MS), and anchovy added with mushroom and sea tangle (AMS) were investigated by sensory evaluation. The most preferred stock made with animal meat was mixed with the most preferred stock made with other ingredients at a 5% level to test the synergistic effects of palatability. As a result, BCP stock and AMS stock obtained the highest scores for overall preference. BCP stock within the range of 30%-65% along with the mixed stock containing AMS (35%-70%) showed synergistic effects for palatability.
